where a fire rips through several stores at a strip m ==laura /team coverage== let's get right to our live t breaking news in santa kara where a fire rips lou several stores at a strip mall. >> let's get right to our team coverage this morning of that fire, today in the bay chris sanchez is at the mall, what is the very latest? >> reporter: good morning to you, lawyer. >> reporter: -- laura. >> reporter: you see behind me the huge flames earlier are gone. we keep hearing the sound of the building collapsing inside. right now we can count, one, two, three, four, five water streams coming on to this fire.

this looks like what was an indian vegetarian on the corner of this strip mall. it appears it is in more than one building. as you mentioned, it is a five alarm fire. santa clara is here. they have asked for assistance from other apartments. we were trying to get a better van tage point for you. certainly a very big firefight this morning. the fire started around 3:14 here in the 3400 block of el camino. it went big and fast. we could see in the darkness of the night dark, black smoke. it was an active fire as we rolled up this morning. again, firefighters are making quick work of it. they are pouring patriots on to this building which appears to be to be a total loss the roof caved in on more than one

location. lots of smoke in the area. because this is el camino real, we have spoken to folks that said they will not take the bus, they have been waiting, calming for folks to come and pick them up from the area. but that is not going to happen. we will track that largely this morning. mike, what can you tell us? >> that huge flame and smoke on el camino real, which is a major thorough fair in santa clara. let's tell you it's el camino east of lawrence expressway. for those familiar with that stretch of roadway, it's between palmroy or vista. fire scenes on scene. huge amounts of flame and smoke as well. it's a huge distraction. folks on scene are not able to take tear bus. buses aren't arriveing. we'll get you more detail from

caucuses in march. the voters picked clinton as their choice last night. hillary clinton is in northern california. she is headed for salinas and san jose on thursday. we caught her husband former president bill clinton campaigning in san francisco yesterday. he is holding a rally if fremont, same day. 4:35. it is unfamiliar territory for the golden state warriors, they're on the brink of being eliminated for the first time two years ago. somewhere along the way they lost their mojo, now the nation is wondering if they can get it back. last night the warriors on the brink of another blowout in oklahoma city. they were down at the half and a valiant effort by clay thompson who scored 19 points in a row t. final score 118 to 94. game five will be thursday at

>> a fire started shortly after 3:00 this morning. >> in fact, it has been so intense. we are there live, gathering information as well, trying to tackle the massive fire, mike is tracking the traffic situation. we could have problems with buses in that area. we will check in with mike coming up at 4:50. san francisco lyders have afwreed to a new deal that both expands and modifies the controversial sanctuary city policy. supervisors last night agreed to that compromise. it bars them from notifying the feds.

it also gives new sheriff hen see wider discretion to five agents under certain circumstances. critics point out the new law would not have kept last year's shooting suspect from being released. the mayor has to sign off on the agreement before it can become law. now to an investigative unit exclusive. a teenage girl says she was sexually abused by her stepfather for years. she finally found the courage to report it. after waiting nearly two years, she turned to the investigative unit for help. we uncovered startling details how they moved through the justice system. arare apology and admission from the santa clara district attorney's office that this case was mishandled. >> it seemed like they didn't care. i thought no one was going to help me. and i have been through this enough. >> a tremendous apology is owed

you're looking at live pictures of a strip mall on el camino real, near flora vista avenue--- an j >> right now we're following breakb news out of santa kara this morning. you are looking at pictures of a strip mall fear flora vista avenue east of the lawrence expressway. you see that smoke still billowing out of the top of that structure. several businesses have engaged in a fire that started about 3:15 this morning and was recently upgraded to a five-alarm fire. the flames ripped through five shots, chris sanchez recalls seeing columns of black smoke when she arrived early this morning. she is monitoring this situation. she will bring us a live report

momentarily. there were several restaurants, so a busy thorough fair. >> the traffic for those who aren't driving as well. >> first a quick check at the weather. it will clear later, not just yet? >> not just yet, grab a light jacket before you head out. as we take a live look towards san francisco, low clouds out there once again, so as we start out this morning, there may be some spots that have to deal with low visibility and patchy fog, elsewhere, we have a nice start to the day with pictures in the 50s, we break you down for oakland, it will be in the mid-50s, then into the low 60s, by 10:00 the sun may not start to come out until 1:00 and those temperatures making it into the 60s. it will be breezy as well, a strong on shore flow coming in at about 15 miles an hour, so the wind starts to kick up later

on today. we will feel breezy as our temperature drops later on tonight into the 50. looking at those highs today, in the low 70s, right about where we should be, upper 60s to low 70s for the peninsula and san francisco making it up to 63 degrees, 73 degrees in nevada. the 7-day forecast at the bottom of the screen. you see our temperatures warming up over the next several days. this will be the last day, we will be slightly cooler than average. especially in san jose, tomorrow up to 78 degrees, then some low '80s in time for the weekend and the holiday weekend looks pretty warm for many spots, in the north bay in the mid-80s, so definitely some beach weather. we will keep some 60s and 70s right along the coast. san francisco will be in the low 70s and the peninsula up to 78

degrees and '80s for parts of the triyale, i'll have more in the forecast in a few minutes, mike is tracking the effects of the fire in santa clara. >> right now the bay bridge and the rest of the bay is looking light t. freeways not showing up with slow down, there is a new incident in dublin. i want to zoom in towards santa clara. it's on el camino real. here's lawrence expressway. to the east over here some folks familiar with the area, chili's is over here. another restaurant, jack in the box is over here off pomeroy. it's a huge scene, use grenada as an alternate. it should affect folks riding the bus as well, in any case, we're looking at the live shot here. this is what's going on, look at

headquarters. airlines are still encouraging people to arrive three hours for travel. lawmakers are expected to delay plan, puerto rico is swimming in several billion of debt. they will restructure the debt. that bill has bipartisan support. unions are among those opposing the plan. one north carolina school system is considering telling its students, leave your city jeans at home or else -- skinny jeans at home or else. some argue they show off a little too much. a school district in north carolina is proposing banning leggings and skin my jeans unless the accompanying top covers the poster you posterior.
