the sharks are about to take the ice in the stanley cup final for the first time ever in the team's history. >> we have team coverage for you. damian trujillo is standing by with fans in san jose. but collin is first. >> reporter: guys, here we are finally, game one, stanley cup finalities, less than 30 minutes away. can the sharks seize the moment? we'll find out shortly. we're rink side here in pittsburgh. those without tickets to tonight's game, they are lawn chair ready for an outdoor viewing party that's also going on here in pittsburgh. we didn't find any sharks fans. but we did find these buddies here from sfo today.

now they're inside the shark tank ready to watch the big game on the big screen. they didn't wait for the game to start before they began to party. ♪ >> reporter: the party began at 2:00 this afternoon at plaza caesar chavez. it was 85 degrees but that didn't keep people from sporting their sharks sweaters. the sweater, really? >> got to represent the sharks for the fans. >> we're ready for the finals tonight. >> reporter: son tyler knows there are two big games today. so he wanted to represent both of them. >> i'm really happy that both teams have gotten as far as they have. i'm proud of both franchises for being able to get to this point. >> reporter: these diehards have been waiting 25 years for this moment. that was enough reason to get a new sharks hat or t-shirt. after all, it's their first chance to see their favorite players skate for one of the most prestigious trophies in sports. there is a wager between the

mayor of san jose and the mayor of pittsburgh. it involves a donation of food back and forth, also donations to the charity of their choice. the losing mayor has to wear the jersey of the opposing team. that's the bet. damian trujillo, nbc 11. >> thanks, damian. ticket prices are sky high. average price for a ticket to game 3, $624. game 4 at the shark tank, even higher, $648. average price for game 1 in pittsburgh tonight, 220 bucks. to be fair, the penguins won the stanley cup final in 2009 so this is not as massive a deal as it is in sharks history. what a day, the warriors also have a lot on the line tonight.

golden state trying to punch their ticket to the nba finals with a game 7 win against the oklahoma city thunder. we'll have a live report from oracle in ten minutes. decision 2016, the california primary now eight days away. competition on the democratic side still tough. here's a live look at oakland where bernie sanders is expected to arrive at any moment to hold a public rally, the last of three stops in the presidential candidate's swing across the bay area. we're outside a church in oakland. scott, you got the opportunity to speak to sanders one on one. >> reporter: that's right, jessica. he also spoke to 200 people inside the church earlier today, stressing economic equality and improved access to education. senator bernie sanders struck a chord inside this baptist

church. sitting down with us, senator sanders talked to us about how his message of closing the wage and education gap is resonating with bay area voters. >> most people understand the technology has changed the nature of education. we have got to make public education include free tuition at public colleges and universities. >> the fact that he comes to east oakland means a lot to me. a lot of candidates won't come out and hear from people and let us hear from them. >> reporter: he says he wants to give democrats a choice as we approach the california primary. >> we've seen a huge uptick in voter registers. young people, latinos, are getting involved in the democratic process. i think that's good for democracy. >> reporter: oakland representative barbara lee is a member here at allen temple baptist church. she was not in attendance today

and as of yet has not endorsed a candidate for president. scott budman, nbc bay area news. a surprise guest, bernie sanders paid his respects to fallen vets with an unscheduled stop in san francisco. mark matthews has comments from senator sanders and reaction. >> reporter: this is the biggest memorial day event but bernie sanders kept it on the down-low. he says he didn't want to turn this observance into a political event. it was a surprise to many to see senator bernie sanders walking in today's memorial day parade. asked why he wanted to be here, the former chair of the senate veterans committee told me it matters. >> the issue of veterans needs and the families of those who walk their lives is something that has always been of importance to me. that's why i'm here.

>> reporter: and your opponent is on the east coast. >> i don't want to get political right now, okay? >> i would have made the decision that he wouldn't speak. >> reporter: wallace lev insaid he had to lay down the law with sanders' staff. >> i convinced them it was better for him not to speak because it shows he really cares. >> reporter: after the ceremony is around could have talked politics. but he didn't. >> we're here to remember the sacrifices of those who gave their lives and their families. thank you. that's all i would like to say. >> he took a step back from politics and made it about the veterans. >> he made a decision not to criticize clinton. that was acknowledged by everybody here. >> it's surprising for me, i think it changed who i'm rooting for. so, yeah.

>> reporter: so, yeah, pretty positive reaction. i didn't see the last exchange between wallace levin and senator sanders. levin, i'm told, walked over to sanders and thanked him for not ruining the day. sanders' response? without a word he turned and walked away. >> interesting, mark, thank you very much. democratic contender hillary clinton marched in her hometown's parade in chappaqua, new york, joined by husband bill clinton for the event. the presumptive republican nominee for president, donald trump, had no public event today. yesterday he was at a biker event. he will be in new york tomorrow. police in san francisco are investigating the theft of a federal agent's gun and identification. both were taken during a car

a third day of searching but still no signs of two open teenagers who vanished off of jumping off a boat. they were with family on saturday. a group of seven jumped into the water. these two teens never resurfaced. the boys were not wearing lifejackets. it's east of stockton, north of oakdale in the central valley. no day off for victims of a five-alarm fire at a shopping center. flames roared through the rancho shopping center destroying one business after another. a business owner has salvaged her belongs.

>> reporter: that's right, jessica. it's hard to believe that much can be salvaged here. the owner of a well-known dance studio here also believed a planned 30th everyone show went up in smoke. a concerned community stepped up. donna has owned this dance studio for 30 years. but now instead of getting ready for a big show, she finds herself cleaning up after the five-alarm fire. it ripped through the shopping center. even though crews stopped the flames just short of the studio, there is still major damage to the center. the cause is still under investigation. >> we won't be able to continue in this location. >> reporter: some performers who participated as children now

ian cull is out there. ian, i was out there for game one of the series. in all honesty, the crowd was flat. what vibe are you getting tonight? >> reporter: we got a lot of fans coming in here tonight. oracle is going to be rocking. this is the first time in 40 years that the warriors have hosted a game 7. the fans know it. they're starting to trickle in here, many paying upwards of $400, up to several thousand dollars on the secondhand market to be closer to the court to have their ticket. the fans were having a tailgate party. they know what's at stake. warriors are trying to do what few have done, come back and win a series after being down 3-1. lebron james and the cavs await the winner. fans are confident the dub nation will be successful tonight. >> it's over.

developed again by the fog at the coastline. that's putting us at 67 in san francisco for the east bay, hotter 92. the south bay getting a slight wind from the coastline. that's why it's not as warm as the east bay. tomorrow morning, we'll start off mostly clear here, at the bay area. fog in san francisco and 53. as we head throughout tuesday, temperatures will warm up a few degrees. that will put us in accupunctcut 93. for the coast, we'll stay in the 60s for tomorrow. that will put pacifica at 69. pa palo alto, 64. for the tri valley, beautiful weather in napa, 89 degrees. oakland, a comfortable 76. the hottest weather across the tri valley, with 95 expected in

livermore, 94 in pleasanton. you know we're in for hotter weather this week, that's what i want to focus in on next. this area of high pressure will stay in place throughout the next five days. but the key component that will likely get us up to 100 degrees this week will be a dry offshore wind building. it looks like that's going to start to build in place once we hit friday's forecast. i want to focus in on that, because friday is going to be the day where we have the chance here of some 100-degree heat across the region, also increased fire danger and lowering humidity. here is how it looks, once we hit the hottest day this week on friday. 100 expected in walnut creek. this will also put san francisco at 77 degrees. and also our beaches in the low 70s. so let's go ahead and get an overall look at how that trend is going to shape up for the upcoming weekend forecast. you can see while we'll have 99 in the south bay on friday, we'll start to see things cool on saturday to 95, then eventually dropping down to our biggest decrease on sunday with 88 expected in the south bay,

east bay 75, and the north bay 81. since of course this is called a weather forecast, i want to take it into the forecast for the potential of maybe some late season june rain, maybe some showers on june 5th, and the 6th. but a better chance right now of a possible storm that could bring a quarter inch of rain on the 9th and the 10th. i'll closely monitor these, it's a long way out, but a sign of unusual weather coming our way. >> thanks so much. coming up, a two-hour chase in southern california caught on camera. you can watch as it comes to a dramatic conclusion.

we're still waiting for presidential candidate bernie sanders to appear in oakland. he's expected to take the stage at any moment. those are the steps of city hall. the crowd is between 10 and 15,000 people right now. this is the third bay area stop for sanders so far today. he's got more coming in the

coming days. new video tonight of a high speed chase that had the chp criss-crossing l.a. county for two hours. it started in southgate when a man began driving the stolen suv recklessly. he even through paper out of the paper and sideswiped other cars. the chp arrested him after he stopped on the 405 in long beach. memorial day weekend is coming to a close. you can tell that on our roadways. take a live look at 80 in emeryville and the 680 in dublin. right now it looks pretty darn wide open. it promises to get busier in the next few hours as travelers return from all over california, just in time for the sharks and later on the warriors. we went on a ride-along with the chp, out on checkpoints to keep drivers safe. 24 people have died on our roads since friday, more than half of those not wearing seatbelts.
