trump promised the millions back in january when he held a competing event after refusing to participate in a fox gop debate. why did he wait until now to make the donation? trump says his team was busy vetting the organizations and then he unleashed attacks on his favorite target, the media. nbc's hallie jackson has more. >> reporter: for 39 minutes a fiery roast. >> you're a sleaze. i've watched you on television. you're a real beauty. >> reporter: at a combative news conference. >> i find the political press to be unbelievably dishonest. >> reporter: donald trump being angry for being held accountable for claims he raised $6 million. who got the money, when did they get it and why did it take so long to get it? >> i have raised a tremendous amount of money for the vets, thank you very much mr. trump, everyone's saying, who got it, who got it, who got it and you make me look very bad.

million in ads. clinton continues to reel from reports about her e-mail server. clinton called into msnbc and said she never intended to hide her personal e-mail use. >> i e-mailed hundreds of people, and i e-mailed department officials and it was directly with my e-mail as other secretaries have done. i certainly never instructed anyone to hide the fact that i was using a personal e-mail. it was obvious to hundreds of people, visible to many people that i was e-mailing throughout the state department and the rest of the federal government. >> clinton is campaigning in new jersey this morning. she'll head to boston for a fund-raiser and rally where she'll be joined by jon bon jovi. she'll resume her california campaign tomorrow.

breaking news overnight. the first baby born with zik zika-related birth defects. hackensack university medical center delivered a baby girl with severe microcephaly. the mother is a 31-year-old mother from honduras. babies with microcephaly, a condition where the head is significantly smaller than expected normally grow to have learning deficiencies, hearing and visual problems. the first u.s. case of zika-related microcephaly was confirmed in puerto rico could he in mid may. meanwhile, important protections for the zika virus. if you've traveled to a country with an outbreak of zika, you should practice safe sex or abstain for eight weeks. men who have shown zika symptoms

are advised to wait six months before trying to concede. it was a rough flight for passengers aboard flight 567. the boeing 767 carrying 250 passengers bounced up and down on the runway before the pilot ditched the landing. flight attendants rushed from their seats to check on passengers. fortunately the panels collapsed into the aisle and no one was hurt. the plane circled north for 30 minutes before landing to cheers by the passengers. still no word from united on what caused the incident. a bronx man is charged with manslaughter after police say he fatally beat a would be rapist to death. 61-year-old mamadou was welcomed by cheers. he was arrested tuesday just hours after allegedly beating an attacker to death with what appeared to be a tire iron. police say surveillance video shows that attacker, 43-year-old earl nash, being beaten just

moments after nash attempted to rape his wife. police say nash forced himself into the couple's apartment, exposed himself and ripped her clothing. that's when dialo got a frantic call from his wife. he was rushing to her aid when he encountered nash in the hallway and began beating him in the elevator. sources tell nbc new york nash had 19 prior arrests and served at least four years in state prison. for now dialo has been released from jail and is with his family pending upcoming proceedings. over 1,000 migrants have died crossing the mediterranean in just the past week. the international organization for migration said the majority who died were on barely sea worthy boats which sank in calm seas. 2500 mieg zbranlts have died crossing the mediterranean this year alone, that's up substantially. approximately 25,000 migrants have arrived in 2016 so far. paris mayor announced plans

to set up a refugee camp in the city's northern area. she says france can no longer stand by as the mediterranean, quote, becomes a graveyard for refugees, the humanitarian camp is expected to open next month. amateur video appears to show workers in syria rescuing a child from the rubble of a destroyed building. you can see the child appears bloodied and covered with debris but alive. the syrian observatory for human rights says at least 23 people were killed including 7 children. the exact date of the video was unknown although the strikes reportedly happened monday. russia has denied any involvement. water is rising in southeast texas after unrelenting rain has led to historic flooding. horses are looking for shelter on flooded farms and neighborhoods on the verge of being washed away as hundreds struggling to find higher

it got so bad that the padres had to have a couple of position players pitch to finish the game including starting catcher christian detencourt. he threw a ridiculous 53 mile per hour knuckle ball. in seattle 16-4. baltimore, boston's mookie betts first lead-off hitter became the first hitter to hit three home runs in a game. boston won 6-2. betts had fiv rbis. cleveland's francisco lindor had a tough time running out this grounder going for the slide just a bit early. his bad actually got caught up in his legs. at least he had a sense of humor about it. the awesome stumble losing to the rangers 7-3. north of the border, toronto's kevin halar makes the amazing diving catch preventing an extra base hit. he goes all out getting parallel with the ground.

in jail for shooting an unarmed man. he shot eric harris in april of last year after allegedly mistaking his gun for a taser. he was caught taking part in an illegal gun sale and ran from deputies before being shot. the incident sparked outrage over race discrimination and raised questions about training standards. the gunman who went on a shooting rampage in housto texas, sunday fired 212 rounds according to police. the shooter and another victim were killed. 6 people were wounded including two officers. the gunman was a 25-year-old army veteran who suffered from depression. prince harry will hand over an american soldier's invictus medal tomorrow to medics who saved her life. she received it in brittain for a serious lung condition. she asked prince harry to donate the gold medal she won this year so she could give back. good news there. an annual wolfpack racing championship took place in
