welcome back to kari hall. >> thank you. it is so hot. you'll notice a little bit of a change, more of a sea breeze kicking in. it will still be hot for much of the afternoon. looking outside, you see a lot of clouds at 60 in the south bay. 54 in the north bay. highs reaching into the 80s for the south bay. some 70s for the peninsula and east bay and san francisco today. up to 66. we'll continue to see more cooling as we go through the week. let's head over to mike looking at low clouds over the bay bridge. >> low clouds. barely any cars as far as the bay bridge is concerned. as we move the map down, you see

former president bill clinton was in los gatos shacking hands and collecting checks. senator sanders says even if hillary clinton takes california, he is within striking reach of the nomination. >> if working people and young people are prepared to come out and make it clear it's too late for establishment politics and establishment economics, we are going to win. >> after tuesday i will try to reach out and try to unify the democratic party. i expect senator sanders to do the same. >> senator sanders was in san diego. he was rally at san francisco's chrissy field with danny glover who he attended a warriors game with. and with dave mathews. the latest polls show sanders is closing in on clinton's lead in california,s but she needs fewer than 30 delegates to get the

nomination before the ç convention. california is one of six states that votes tomorrow. thank you very much. we'll pay close attention to that. 4:34. deputies found themselves in an unusual standoff instead of waiting for a criminal to emerge they were waiting for a mountain lion to come down from a tree. it happened saturday. detectives evacuated the park after the cat growled at children then ran up a tree. they decided against tranquilizing and relocating the animal. they waited for the cougar to come down and leave on its own accord which it did after nightfall. >> i got twitter message and an e-mail. >> somebody saw it then reported it. unless it was reported, they were blocking it off for foot traffic. i've been trying to photograph it for two years so i got the opportunity to take a couple of shots. >> mountain lion attacks on humans are rare, with only 16

attacks in california since 1890. they move in flashes on the ice and they are trying to get back in a series. san jose sharks try to hold serve in their stanley cup final series against pittsburgh. they won saturday beating in a dramatic overtime goal. now they face a 2-1 deficit in the series. a win tonight would be a huge boost for the sharks. it would keep the series right on track. you can watch the game here on nbc bay area. that starts at 5:00 tonight. if you want to see tonight's game in person, there are a limited amount of tickets that are going to go up for grabs today. only at the sap center box office which opens at 10:00 a.m. warriors dismantling the cavaliers last night in front of a roaring crowd at oregon 0le. >> draymond gray for three. >> what a shot.

they don't call him money green for nothing. 28 points for green. warriors now two away from back-to-back champions. they won five in a row since facing elimination in the western conference finals. warriors lead that series two games to none. game three is on wednesday back in cleveland. a lot of sports fans were expecting a good competitive series. this has been a whupping. we welcome home kari hall who had a nice little break there. >> thank you. we had such hot weather. it continues for the inland areas today. nice and comfortable in san francisco. we'll see cloudy skies starting out the day. into the afternoon expect highs to reach into the upper 80s for the tri-valley.

to show how there are right now two very different oaklands. we found the vibrant and booming part of oakland where high-tech companies are moving and jobs are plentiful. unemployment there 8% and dropping. there have only been five murders and a dozen gun arrests there since last august. just down the street nearby in east oakland we found another part of the city that's still lags far behind. where unemployment is more than 18%. the average salary only about half of what the others make citywide. 21,000 people in east oakland live below the poverty line. there have been 26 murders and 90 gun arrests in that part of the city since last august. we asked oakland's marrawah she and the rest of city leaders are doing to address this inequality. the mayor says programs to make the city more equitable are being rolled out as we speak. to hear more about that and her

welcome back. quarter to 5:00 on your monday morning. there was a lot of heat. >> hard to not notice. >> you felt your skin and shirt sticking to it. >> i was driving through parts of the central valley and the thermometer in the car got up to 112. >> i bet. >> kept the windows rolled up. we'll have much cooler temperatures over the next few days. we are in for a cooling trend. you may be happy to hear that. we take a live look outside over san jose. you see the clouds and lights reflecting off the clouds there. we will have some clearing as we go into the afternoon and still warm in parts of the bay area like the south bay. east bay 58. 59 in the peninsula.

56 in san francisco. as we get a closer look in the north bay it's 55 in napa. 55 in novato and san rafael. watching the east coast and parts of the south now. in florida we have tropical storm colin. this looks to bring in drenching rains for much of the state of florida, if you have family there. this will track up the east coast. thisle roing out into the atlantic before it makes it up to d.c. that may be making headlines over the next few days. here at home, we are in for very warm temperatures in the south bay, peninsula making it into the lower 60s and the pacifica and 66 in the mission district in san francisco. 78 in petaluma and oakland today. 70. we'll still have spots like brentwood making it into the 90s and tri-valley still very warm. we'll see changes over the next few days. increase in the coastal clouds

and also that sea breeze kicking in as we go through the day. that shows the cloud cover over san francisco and along the coast. then it clears out over the next several hours. over the next three days, our temperature's going down. that will be the trend. by the middle of the week, we'll have mid 70s. in san francisco we'll go from 65 keeping it steady there and low 80s for parts of the north bay tomorrow. let's head over to mike for a look at the morning commute. >> we'll see how light the volume of traffic is. despite that light volume in the south bay we have two crashes reported in. the first one circled at the bottom of your screen. that's right around highway 9 off 17. no major issue. there will be flashing lights and unfortunately someone's car and a deer are involved. eastbound 237. we look at that single car

prices. the average price of regular unleaded creeping up another 6 cents to $2.37. in the bay area it's higher at $2.98. analysts say they see an increase in oil prices. >> demand for wall street jobs are high. goldman sacks received more than 250,000 applications from college students and grads for summer jobs. they could higher to end the workaholic culture. memorials are continuing to grow in honor of muhammed ali. since his death friday, fans have been showing up in waves at the muhammed ali center in louisville, kentucky, where his life began.

developing story, temperatures are rising and wildfire season is officially here. >> hundreds of firefighters across the state are on the front lines battling six big fires. most are in southern california. there is also one burning near monterey. 44 local firefighters now assisting with that one. it started saturday afternoon on the border of the national park. after only a half hour it spread

to more than 3,000 acres. more than 120 homeowners had to evacuate. alameda said many factors are making this a tough fire to fight. >> the weather is working against us. it's high temperatures, low humidity and strong winds. the fuel type is brush which allows to rapid fire spread. >> the fire is listed as 10% contained as of this morning. another wildfire burning in an upscale los angeles suburb. firefighters are making headway on containment. the so-called old fire is 80% contained. the goal is to cycle any smoldering and keep residents safe. it burned 500 acres and slid off into neighborhoods burning backyards and damaging homes. 5,000 people were evacuated. neighbors say it was a mad rush to get everyone to safety. >> we heard the helicopters and

i walked out, i could see the smoke and fire coming by. >> firefighters say the fire started after a driver lost control of a car and crashed into power poles that downed lines in three different places. >> a two-mile stretch of southern california coast line is shut down over concerns about large sharks in the water. the helicopter crew spotted the shark yesterday after sunset beach in huntington beach. most of the sharks are believed to be at least eight feet long and swimming 150 yards from shore. two beaches were closed. they may reopen today. sighting comes one week after a shark attacked a swimmer. 4:56 on your monday. today in ohio a prosecutor will announce he plans to fire charges against the family of a 3-year-old boy who fell into the cincinnati zoo igor i'lla exhibit. that forced zoo workers to shoot and kill the 400 pound gorilla

one way to wake up. good morning. thanks for joining us. >> the only thing want to hear growling in the morning is my stomach. appreciate our appetite for cooler weather, kari. >> looking forward to that, too. it will be gradual as we go through the week. we had searing temperatures for the past several days. this weekend started the cooling trend and it continues today. right now as we look at temperatures in the east bay and peninsula, it's 57 with highs today reaching the upper 70s for the inner bay and low 80s for the north bay, south bay and tri-valley and san francisco today. 66. we'll talk about those slightly cooler temperatures in the forecast. let's head over to mike updating us on the south bay crashes. >> right. first we have that fremont drive heading into the south bay. we are watching two crashes here. at the bottom of your screen
