san francisco. i'll talk about that and what to expect. what is going on in the south bay? >> we have your build northbound 101 here at 680. we expect this. i want to warn folks heading up into san jose before santa clara, there is a crash and that maybe blocking one lane. heading down toward san mateo bridge, 880 shows a bit. we'll give you a look at the san mateo bridge. smooth flow on 92 westbound. low clouds hovering around. a doedly late night car crash in san jose. this happened southbound 280.

a bmw collided with a pick-up truck. it rolled over ejecting one of the passengers. passenger and driver suffered major injuries, one of them didn't survive. the bmw driver was hospitalized and later arrested. 6:02, decision 2016, final push for support here in california ahead of tomorrow's primaries. hillary clinton is just a handful of delegates away from clinching the nomination. bernie sanders is vowing to fight near the end. >> they are ranning up the frequent flier miles. front-runner hillary clinton spent the weekend in the bay area. it is no wonder that california is the belle of the primary ball.

margin are error is up or minus 2%. clinton was in vallejo yesterday talking about community leaders about education. in oakland she told folks that she would bring jobs and keep trying to end gun violence. former presidential bill clinton was in los gatos shaking hands and doing fund-raising. while hillary clinton has enough delegates to clinch the nomination tomorrow with several primaries in store, senator sanders says even then he could still take the nomination at a contested convention if he can persuade superdelegates to join his count. >> if working people and young

head to nbcbayarea.com. click on voter's edge election guide to find indepth information. more fallout after protesters after a trump rally turned violent. hundreds of people demonstrated outside trump's event thursday night at the mchenry convention center. some people in the crowd grew rowdy picking fights with trump supporters, burning merchandise and blocking streets. in that case egging a woman. san jose police say they were spread thin providing security for that event. >> police search for a man who accosted two students as they slept. about 3:00 a.m. a woman says she woke up to a man lifting the

covers off her bed. she screamed and the man ran from the room. the woman searched the residence 30 minutes and spotted him. he ran away. several hours later, public safety officers say the man was back. this time lifting the covers off another woman as she slept. that woman chased him from a home into a parking lot. we'll have a live report at 6:30. san jose saw two deadly shootings over the weekend. latest one happening yesterday near julian and 26th streets. police found a man suffering from multiple gun shot wounds who they say later died at the hospital. that incident is almost identical to a shooting that happened saturday night about a mile away. the victim of that shooting was found near east hills drive in south white road. that man died at the hospital. investigators are struggling for leads in both these cases. >> at this point, i don't have a reason to believe they are connected. again, we are at the very preliminary of the stages of this investigation and still investigating the other one, as

well. >> police have yet to identify the victims in either shooting. for context, there have been 22 homicides already in san jose. police investigated 30 homicides total last year. new this morning, crews are still working to repair a ruptured home water line it happened on buena vista avenue near park side. no roads are closed and crews expect to have the repairs completed any time. tonight san jose sharks trying to hold serve in the final series against pittsburgh. sharks beat the penguins in a dramatic ending on an overtime goal saturday. they still face a two games to one deficit in the series. a win tonight would be a huge boost for the sharks and keep the series on track. if you are not going to the shark tank, watch the game here on nbc bay area starting 5:00 p.m. if you still want to get to tonight's game in person, go and find a limited amount of tickets still up for grabs today.

sunshine and some warm temperatures for the valleys today as you take a look at the fog this morning around san francisco, along the coast. we are feeling temperatures in mid to upper 50s. mild and cloudy to start. still hot one today. look at lunchtime temperatures. 72 in the peninsula and 81 already in the tri-valley heading up to 88. peninsula 78 and the north bay 83. won't be that hot toward the end of this week. i'll show you that coming up in a few minutes. let's head over to mike. how is it looking as you cross the san mateo bridge? >> we are looking at the san mateo bridge. this is right on schedule for what you would expect over toward the peninsula. no real surprise for traffic patterns. i want to point out a couple of spots. southbound 880 past 92. i did have slowing and report of a crash in the area. that has been cleared from the chp report without detail. i'm watching that area. that is a tough one if there is

a crash blocking any lane. that did just disappear. sounds like a nonissue. there is one lane with maybe crews moving through the area. maybe a new crash at the interchange. a live look shows san jose northbound 101 showing traffic easy here. the levi stadium will be a huge crowd. a lot going on in the south bay. coming up next, concert chaos. thousands of people flooded the streets of new york for a pop-up show featuring kanye west except it didn't happen. the reason the venue shut the whole thing down. wall street waits on guidance from janet yellen. the similarities between axel rose and barbara streisand.

it is 6:14. short term rental companies could pay the price if hosts don't follow the rules in san francisco. airbnb was made legal in san francisco two years ago but there was a loophole to allow hosts to list properties before registering with the city. the new rule would require short term rental websites to post registration numbers on the listing. help the city weed out illegal rentals. failure to comply would come with a fine of $1,000 a day.

legislation goes to the board of supervisors this week. the world waits this morning for word from former berkeley professor janet yellen. >> she's got bay area roots. the fed chair will speak about friday's very odd jobs number. >> she'll speak 9:30 our time. i wouldn't be surprised if wall street doesn't make any moves. wall street investors, politicians are all confused by friday's jobs number which showed just 48,000 jobs. that is the american economy in the month of may. we've been getting numbers in the hundreds of thousands previously. >> one guy without a job, tony fidelle retired from google friday. one of the inventors of the ipod. >> california congressman daryl issa wants the federal government to allow government workers to use uber and lyft

while on government business to expense it like they do more expensive taxi cabs. he says it would help taxpayers save money. reports say guns and roses front man axel rose is demanding a certain picture be taken down from the internet that he thinks makes him look fat. this is not that picture. we don't have rights to the fat picture. rose is using the dmca copyright law demand they take it down. the problem with demanding a picture be taken down is you call more attention to that picture. it's something the internet calls the streisand effect. years ago barbara streisand fought to keep the location of her beach front home secret even though the organization that took the photograph documenting the location was the california coastal records project. they didn't care about the house. they cared about documenting erosion. the controversial meant millions of people were aware of her house on the coast and thus was

feels nice. we'll still have warm temperatures for those inland areas. high pressure that's been keeping it hot will continue to slide away allowing for this area of low pressure to move in with the counterclockwise flow around that low pressure. that will give us stronger onshore flow, more clouds and comfortable temperatures, too. it's still warm in the south bay. morgan hill 85. compare that to 70 in foster city and 66 in the mission district today. a wide range in temperatures. we'll still be up to 95 in brentwood today. oakland is at 70. tri-valley up to 88 today. 86 tomorrow. we come down a couple of degrees each day. we'll be feeling some average weather by the end of the week. looking ahead to the weekend forecast, we'll be at 67 in san francisco on friday, low 70s for

the peninsula. this weekend coming up is going to feel much better than the weekend we just had. i would make plans to head outdoors and take in the more comfortable weather. >> looking at fremont, no surprises. great stuff for 880 heading down to south bay. i want to note here toward the bay bridge there is a slowing off the curve now starting around powell and getting away from that bay bridge. watch out, that's closed. we talked about that last week. that will continue for weeks. as we showed the rest of the bay, slowing the slow traffic. pattern shows you're slowing through hayward. earlier crash looks like a nonissue. no problem down through pleasanton. did have a car break down in the

later today a ohio prosecutor will announce whether he plans to file charges to the family of the 3-year-old boy who fell into the cincinnati gorilla exhibit. that incident forced workers to shoot and kill the 400 pound gorilla. police are focusing their investigation on the child's parents and family. they turned the results over to the prosecutor's office. most legal experts believe child endangerment or similar charges are unlikely to be filed. nbc bay area responds to viewers' questions about recalled air bags. >> he asked whether he could turn it off until it's replaced. can he? >> maybe. regulators don't recommend it. air bags are required safety equipment. generally turning them off

the toll plaza itself, the live look assures there is backup there. metering lights are on. thank you. 6:31. disturbing crime on stanford campus. police are looking for a man they say broke into at least two rooms and lifted the covers off women while they slept. pete, we know of two incidents just hours apart. >> the stanford students don't want to hear this news during their finals week. both incidents took place on campus drive. the first incident happened around 3:00 a.m. a suspect entering an unlocked room lifting bed covers off a female victim and standing over her. the suspect ran off after she screamed. similar incident happened

democratic mayor who they believe allowed the violence to happen. he called that a conspiracy theory, noting he does not have the authority to tell the police chief to stand down. bob redel, today in the bay. we are learning new details about the man accused of stealing a gun from an fbi agent's car in san francisco. he was arrested last tuesday. he stole a pistol and the agent's badge and identification over memorial day weekend. authorities since recovered all those items. gregory is due back in court tomorrow. 6:35. last thursday's deadly crash involving a blue angels jet in tennessee could spell the end of the aerial stunt team in san francisco even during fleet week. supervisor john avalos proposed a resolution restricting the jet over the bay skas. they couldn't fly over during practices or air shows. a board vote is pending results of an investigation into last

week's crash when a jet went down during a practice run, killing the pilot. santa clara deputies found themselves in an unusual standoff this weekend. they were waiting for a mountain lion to come down from a tree. they evacuated the park. they waited for the animal to come down and leave on its own accord which it did after nightfall. >> i got a twitter message and an e-mail. >> somebody walking by saw it and reported it. once reported, they were blocking it off from foot traffic. i've been trying to photograph it two years. i finally got the opportunity. >> attacks on humans are rare with only 16 verified attacks in

california since 1890. it is the start of fire season. right now hundreds of firefighters are on the front lines battling six different wildfires across the state of california. here is a look at the map coming up here. most fires are burning in southern california. there is one burning near monterey. that fire started saturday afternoon on the border of the passional park. 3,000 acres are burned. dozens of crews from the bay area are on their way to help out. >> the weather is working against them. it's high temperatures. low humidity and strong winds. the fuel type is brush which allows for rapid fire spread. >> that fire is about 10% contained as of this morning. in the meantime, people are allowed to go back in their homes as firefighters are making good progress on flames burning in the so-called old fire that

here is an interesting question ahead of the election. could the election sink the economy? >> new data this morning, scott mcgrew joins us, that businesses fear november. >> they do indeed. it doesn't appear to matter who wins. businesses fear we'll all lose. new data from the national association of business economics shows 60% of corporations are concerned about the uncertainty ahead and worry that will mean less growth. even ahead of the economy, political uncertainty affecting economic growth, that's nothing new. it doesn't usually happen to this degree in the united states. >> fed chair janet yellen will speak 9:30 our time, her first appearance. that odds jobs number friday, 38,000 jobs added in the month of may. >> one of the concerns is the fed doesn't have tools to fight a slowing economy. it fired all its bullets last time and hasn't reloaded. it's not all bad news.

the unemployment rate lowest in more than a decade. hourly wages are up, better than 2% on 0 the year. inflation low, consumer spending. the strongest in a long time. >> a hacker group claims it was able to hack into several accounts owned by facebook ceo mark zuckerberg, his twitter and pinterest account. the hackers posted screen shots to prove that access. zuckerberg since regained control. it is suspected they may have gotten some of the information from a linkedin hack a couple of years back. then went into accounts they didn't care about or wasn't paying attention to. the lesson is those old accounts you have, things that you think are not worth anything. old e-mail accounts, may have information in there that allows a hacker to go to the next account and go to the next one.

side of the city where it will be in the mid to upper 60s. still fog and clouds around the western side of the city. ocean beach making it up to 62 today. then the clouds start to roll right back in. still very warm today for those inland areas in the south bay up to 84. also in palo alto. san francisco will top out at 66. check out brentwood. 95. oakland at 70. it will still be hot in some areas. we've been keeping tabs on what's happening on the east coast. florida is getting soaked by tropical storm colin. this will be making headlines as it could drop up to eight inches of rain for florida then moves out into the atlantic. it won't have a big impact for much of the east coast. florida really has to watch that storm system. for us, we are looking at nice weather. seven-day forecast bottom of the screen shows our temperatures will be coming down and by this weekend, we are looking at 60s
