turner for the first time. at least his own words. he's the former stanford swimmer at the center of a sexual assault case that sparked international outrage. newly obtained court documents paint a different picture of the athlete convicted of sexually assaulting a woman on campus. >> more on what turner had to say to the judge before he was sentenced to those six months behind bars. good morning. a letter to the court, brock turner the former swim star here appears to blame his criminal behavior on way calls, quote, the so-called party culture on campus. he goes on to write to the judge, "the swim team set no limits on partying and drinking. i saw guys take full advantage of these circumstances while i was shown to do the same. i witnessed countless times the guys i looked up to go to parties, meet girls and take the girls they just met back with them." turner was convicted and sentenced to six months in jail

describe a san francisco police commission meeting last night. they were supposed to discuss use of force by officers but then protesters took over. >> they want two minutes to keep going. >> i don't know how you sleep. you all have blood on your hands. >> things got worse from there. more rowdy. the meeting was eventually postponed. two more meetings are planned for later. the trial begins today for another baltimore police officer implicated in the arrest and death of freddie gray. officer caesar goodson is one of six officers who is charged in gray's death and the only officer who is facing murder charges. goodson was the driver of the transport van where gray suffered spinal injuries last april. the judge will rule on the case instead of a jury. it's a bench trial. another officer was aconvicted by the same judge last month.

to decision 2016. bernie sanders heads to the white house but not the way he wanted. he is going to meet with president obama. the white house says the president will congratulate the senator on his hard-fought campaign. the question remains if and when bernie sanders will support hillary clinton. the president was asked that question by jimmy fallon. >> is bernie going to endorse hillary? >> well, i'm sure they are going to have a conversation. >> is he ever going to drop out? >> you can watch the rest of that interview on "the tonight show" tonight. president obama is expected to endorse hillary clinton formally, the presumptive democratic nominee very soon. searching for more suspects. right now you're looking at a picture of a man wanted by san jose police in connection with that violent donald trump rally last week. he is one of several linked to the attacks on trump supporters. seven people have been arrested.

you look at the weather coming our way. it is looking good the next couple of days. we are going to start out with temperatures in the 50s and low 60s. mostly cloudy skies. then that sunshine breaking out later on today. the same weather we've seen all week. it will be a touch cooler in some spots. 57 degrees in palo alto, livermore, concord and napa, with highs reaching to the upper 70s and low 80s for the south bay. palo alto 74. 64 at at&t park. santa rosa 75. oakland 68. danville a high of 76. not bad at all. we'll talk about this weekend when it starts to warm up. that's coming up in a few minutes. mike is tracking activities on the san mateo camera. >> i just saw flashing lights. this is right past the toll plaza. looks like chip left the scene. we are looking at sensors not showing up there with a period of time where part of that slow lane was blocked for a very

robbed a storage locker at a public storage facility last friday and then went on a daly city police say a woman robbed a storage locker at a public facility, then proceeded to go on a shopping spree. she got away with sports memorabilia and the store owner's credit card. she allegedly used that credit card at stores in daly city, san francisco, antioch and brentwood. police in the east bay rescued a teenage girl who was kidnapped in a possible case of sex trafficking. police swarmed the area near 65th and alcatraz in oakland yesterday where they say that man took a 14-year-old girl hostage. they were able to rescue the girl and then arrest the man. the family tells nbc bay area that the girl told them other victims were inside that home. police will only say that the investigation is not over. at 4:41, bay area oil

reneries are trying to overturn a series of air pollution rules adopted following the chevron oil fire back in 2012. according to the east bay times, five refineryies sued the rules aimed at reducing emission by 20%, chevron, shell, valero, tasoro and phillips 66. they argue the new rules are unfair and possibly unjustified. they were created after the fire at the chevron refinery four years ago that sent thousands of people to hospitals with eye and throat irritation. happening today, controversial new law goes into effect here in california. terminally ill patients will be able to end their own lives legally. the law is expected to triple the number of patients nationwide who can get a lethal dose of effects from their doctor if their pain and suffering becomes intolerable. there is strong religious

check. we'll see the same thing again tomorrow. looking at all the microclimates. up to 75 in san jose. 74 palo alto. at&t park 64 with mid 70s for the north bay. antioch 82. 68 in oakland. danville high of 76. seven-day forecast at the bottom of the screen shows our temperatures will be going up for the weekend. here is part of the reason why. this area of low pressure to the north of us giving us a strong onshore flow will start to kick off to the east, then high pressure will be more of an influence. will give us more of a northerly wind. we won't have the ocean breeze to cool us down. that only happens for a couple of days. starts out sunday. continues into monday. then we start to see temperatures coming back down. as far as high temperatures all across the bay area, looking at 70s and 80s. it will start to feel a little toasty on sunday. i'll have another look at the forecast coming up. let's head over to mike.

fighting crew. this morning firefighters on the ground and in the air are battling that wind fuel tender foot fire. it started yesterday afternoon but burned more than 700 acres. 300 people are evacuated. and emergency shelters are set up. >> i hope everybody's safe. >> we do lose our house in 2003 with that fire. just don't want to do it a second time. >> you never know what can happen with the fire and wind. >> of those 19 firefighters killed three years ago were trapped by a fire near yarnell. it marked the deadliest strategy for u.s. firefighters in several days. an islamic funeral prayer service will be held for muhammed ali. it will be held at louisville, kentucky's freedom hall and will be open to the public. funeral procession and public memorial will be held in louisville friday. tens of thousands of fans
