that usually clues us in to a crash south of us but there is nothing. we'll watch for that pattern as we approach the summertime traffic all around the bay. a nice drive here. a new crash reported southbound 880. highway 84. the dunbarton bridge over there. no injuries reported. we'll track the rest of the east bay. back to you. >> thank you very much. 6:02, more than 24 hours later, shock and horror still sinking in following the deadliest terror attack on u.s. soil since 9/11. 49 people were killed by a gunman. more than 50 others injured inside a night club in orlando, florida. the suspect sprayed gun shots inside that night club early sunday morning. he was later killed in a standoff. a live look where it all

unfolded. federal agents continue to come through the scene for evidence. >> they are following up on 100 plus leads right now. we have team coverage on that attack. michelle roberts live in orlando with new details we know this morning. >> just about an hour ago we got an update from orlando police and fbi. we are learning more about this shooter and learning more about what happened inside that night club. take a look at the scene behind me. about two blocks away from the pulse night club and we are being blocked off here. several blocks are offlimits. there are dozens of law enforcement agencies combing through the evidence. electronic evidence. this morning orlando police are relegaling more details about that terrifying attack that killed dozens. the s.w.a.t. team used an armored vehicle to break into the building where people were being held hostage. that decision likely saved dozens of lives to move in.

once they moved in the shooter came out and was killed. we are learning more about that shooter. 29-year-old omar mateen. his ex-wife describes him as abusive and bipolar. in 2013 he was interviewed by the fbi after making radical comments to a co-worker. the motive of the attack and possible terrorist connections is still under investigation at this point. >> resources are available. other agencies pulled their resources and brought them down. the fbi brought resources to bear from the miami field office, atlanta field office, as well as quantico, virginia, the laboratory sent down shooting reconstructionist. that's the next task at hand. >> the shooter's family told reporters yesterday they believed that the attack was fueled by hate for the lgbt community. pulse night club was a popular

spot for people to gather. it was latino night where people came to dance and gather. foe horrific for the lgbt community as well as the entire community in orlando and around the world. 43 people are still being treated at local hospitals. >> thank you very much. this morning authorities are identifying more victims as we learn more about their lives leading up to yesterday's attack. >> kris sanchez joining us in studio. it's one thing to hear about the death toll but another to see these faces and hear their stories. >> some had to wait almost 24 hours to find out whether their loved ones were among the dead or survivors of this pulse night club shooting. the gunman killed 49 people, all of whom have now been identified by police. only 26 families have been

notified. that is the next of kin. those victims' names are being made public. 53 people were injured in the shooting. some are still in the hospital. we have a link to a story on our website that has a full list of the victims. we are putting their faces and stories in there as we get them. three victims were identified overnight. he was just 20 years old, worked at a starbucks. edward sotomayor was a travel executive. that woman was kimberly morris, a bounce r. this is the mother of 30-year-old eddie justice whose son texted her 45 minutes as that gunman was inside that

night club making his way to the bathroom where he was hiding. the first text was "mommy i love you." then there was more. >> "please call police, i'm going to die. call them now. i'm in the bathroom. he's coming. i'm going to die." >> some families were relieved to find out their loved ones were shot but survived. angel cologne was shot three times. each time the gunman returned to where he was hiding, the young woman next to him did not survive. 53 people are injured. some are still if grave condition in the hospital. in a testament to the amount of support going out to victims and families, a go fund me account was set up. as of this morning, $1.3 million had been donated, contributed by more than 33,000 people.

so tragic to hear. as the nation mourns, thousands of people across the bay area are showingç their support for the victims s of orlando from vigil to memorial in san jose last night. the tragedy touching people across the region. san francisco city hall beautifully lit up, as well. >> castro neighborhood filled the streets with somber vigils to honor those killed. stephanie chuang live with more how people are honoring the victims. >> good morning. oftentimes the lgbt community comes to castro to celebrate events. unfortunately last night this place was packed with hundreds mourning the loss of those orlando victims. here at harvey milk plaza was

the vigil. harvey milk was also a victim of gun violence. yesterday people left messages and flowers and lit candles. >> a month ago, now it's insane how life works out. >> i don't know any of these people, you know? i feel like i lost family almost. i don't know how to deal with it. the fight is still on against bigotry in this country. there was increased police presence in castro yesterday. there is talk of security for the upcoming san francisco pride

in orlando. people in her hometown in new jersey plan to hold a vigil tonight to remember her. another oakland police officer is now on administrative leave amid an ongoing sex scandal within the department. bob redell joins us live with what we know so far. this is now the fifth officer put on leave. >> correct. good morning. this is the fifth oakland police officer who has been put on administrative leave in connection with this tape involving alleged sexual misconduct involving an underaged woman who was a teenager at the time, now an adult. opd did not release any more details. two of the five officers already resigned. yesterday's anousment comes after friday's announcement that sean whent is stepping down as top cop. libbey schaaf insists he left

for personal reasons. his departure comes after a federal judge appointed an independent monitor to oversee this investigation into the sexual misconduct. mayor schaaf appointed ben farrow on loan from b.a.r.t. where he was deputy chief the past five years and with opd for 20 years. bob redell, today in the bay. breaking business news in the tech world and a curve ball. microsoft will buy linkedin. >> it's a $26 billion big. it was unexpected enough bee were very careful to double check. we've got several people on the phone early this morning. microsoft is going to buy linkedin. it will buy $26 million for the mountain view company. linkedin had a number of problems with growth and security but is a well thought of company. the people i talked to say jeff

weiner will remain ceo. the company will retain its independence as well. linkedin handles the business side of social networking. walgreens ending its relationship with theranos, something most business analysts say should have happened months ago. elizabeth holmes and her blood testing firm are toxic. the theranos the billion dollar company that promised to test for dozens of health problems in a single drop of blood. federal investigators say it doesn't work. they may bar holmes from her own lab. we don't know about theranos' financials. nobody seems to know about the company. it didn't stop them from investing in it. we suspect walgreens provides the only income theranos has or had. >> the markets will probably turn lower today. fed meets tomorrow. we don't expect an interest rate hike. fears over britain leaving the

door for work. santa clara 57. we'll break it down for san francisco with upper 50s to start out the day. a lot of clouds till about 11:00. you'll start to see the sun coming out. by noon we should be all clear. low 60s throughout the day. a nice breeze to make it feel comfortable and bringing those temperatures down from over the weekend. if you are going to the warriors game this evening at 6:00, very nice. 66, winds from the northwest at 10 to 15 miles per hour. next door we've got the a's game going on. it will be 65 to low 60s. we also have the giants game across the bay that will start out with temperatures in the low 60s and a mix of sun and clouds. temperatures dropping back to the upper 50s by the end of the game. will be slightly cooler today and next couple of days. middle to end of the week, a slight chance of north bay showers. something we'll keep an eye on over the next couple of days. let's head over to mike.

>> just a few minutes ago i caught up with florida's attorney general pam bondi. her main message to the people of florida and everywhere is to continue living your life. if you let fear dictate what you do and who you are, then you let the terrorists win. we are on scene here about two blocks away from the night club. it's still blocked off. it is a crime scene at this time, a big day for investigators. they do say their main focus today is notifying the victims' families. they are working to collect electronic and physical evidence from the scene. we are learning more about that horrific attack. police say that they were in contact with the shooter who said he was wearing a bomb. that's when officers drove an armored vehicle into the building of that night club. the gunman omar mateen, 29 years old, exchanged fire with police at that point and was killed. the decision to move into the night club saved dozens of lives. people being held hostage inside

the bathroom of that night club. today the motive of the attack is still under investigation, and they are looking into possible ties the shooter had to terrorists overseas. >> we've been collecting a great amount of electronic and physical evidence. there is an ongoing criminal investigation. it is still in the early stages. we do not know whether anyone else is involved in connection to this crime. we have no reason to believe that anyone connected to this crime is placing the public at imminent danger at this time. >> officials reiterating they do not believe that the public is in danger. of course, many people are waking up in fear and mourning the loss of those killed. the shooter's family believes he was fuelled by hate for the lgbt

community. loses of people are still in the hospital being treated. and fighting for their lives at this point. there are vigils set up throughout orlando. looking around the area, there are small memorials gathered of flowers and notes of those lost. imagine when this road is opened up, there will be an outpouring of support for the pulse night club and lgbt community. michelle roberts. back to you. >> thank you. as we try to understand the full complexity of this attack, moments ago nbc news' correspondent kerry sanders sat down with the killer's father. >> now when you know he targeted a club in orlando, 50 people killed, more than 100 people shot, what do you make of this? what triggered your son? >> i don't approve this in the
