very nice. just some clouds along the coast that will clear out as we go through the day. we are starting out with mostly clear skies for inland areas. 57 in the east bay. grab a light jacket. you won't need it later today. it will be nice and comfortable with a mix of sun and clouds and highs in the low to mid 70s. 65 in san francisco. we'll talk about our warmer temperatures and a slight chance of rain in the forecast this week. that's coming up in a few minutes. now mike is tracking two spots in the east bay already. >> already this morning you see how light the bay bridge toll plaza traffic is. it's like that all around the bay. i have two incidents i'm tracking. westbound 580 past highway 84. split there in livermore. a family has a flat tire and the family is down the road which is concerning. stay off to the right. over here a dump truck has been the issue. 580 at the 13 split.

caltrans in the area. it might be a caltrans dump truck as you're heading toward the construction area. watch for flashing lights. slowdown just a tad bit. it should clear soon. the fbi now investigating whether the shooter omar mateen visited the pulse night club before the attack. >> people who worked there say he had dozens of time. sunday he killed 49 people inside that club in orlando. we take live pictures outside pulse. investigators were talking with the family and others who knew him. the gunman appears to have been a home grown terrorists. greg is in orlando with more on the investigation and how the community there is coping. >> in the wake of tragedy, an outpouring of love with memorials across the country. >> hate cannot bring an end to hate, only love can do that. >> reporter: as communities

grieve, investigators are learning more about the attack. images from inside the pulse night club reveal horrific moments. then this video on snapshot was killed after this was posted. >> he said your son is dead. >> just like that. >> just like that. >> never made it to the hospital? >> he died on the floor of the club. that's what they said. >> agents continue to investigate the gunman's background, including reports he sent messages using a gay online dating site and had been seen several times at the night club where he opened fire. the weapons he used bought legally over a week ago at this gun store. >> unfortunately, he's evil. we happen to be the gun store he picked. and there is nothing else i can say.

it's horrible. >> and now a community left to heal following tragedy. mateen was on a federal watch wisconsin after comments about terrorist connections. if he tried to buy a gun then, the fbi would have been notified. the case was closed and notification was not required. stay with us for continuing coverage from orlando. that is where nbc bay area michelle roberts is on the ground gathering more information. she'll have live updates in the next half hour. breaking news back home. this is new video of a pick-up truck that slammed into a san jose house causing serious damage. >> today in the bay is live at that home right now. the homeowner said this happened more than a dozen times? >> reporter: yes. if you can believe it. we were just talking to the homeowner. he was out here. take a look behind me. you can see the wreckage left behind.

he says this has happened to his house 19 times. he lived here since the 1950s. the owner says he was just heading back to the back of the house for the night when he heard this loud rumbling noise. he thought it was an earthquake, but then he heard a neighbor start to yell. he realized it happened again. a truck crashed into his home off 680. he tried to prevent this from happening. >> putting the poles down. it tore off my fence. here are the poles there put my car, parked it right here to prevent my house from getting hit. didn't do any good. the guy in the truck hit my car and pushed it into the garage. >> reporter: he is so grateful he is okay. fortunately, no one was

in scope at the oakland police department. nbc bay area's learned that the contra costa county sheriff's department is now investigating allegations that a sex scandal growing in scope at the police department. the contra costa county police department is investigating allegations that one of its employees had sex with a woman who tells the media she was a prostitute. she says she slept with 28 law enforcement officials, some of them while she was only 17 years old. they include members of the oakland police department, the richmond police department, alameda county sheriff's department, livermore police and someone based in stockton. a fifth officer was put on administrative leave as a result of that scandal. the man police say robbed a high end union square stores to hundreds of thousands of dollars

multiple times since march was behind bars. >> san francisco police arrested kevin dale burton from pittsburgh. investigators say over the past few months, he stole more than $100,000 in designer clothing, as well as purses and accessories. he is facing multiple charges of robbery, burglary and assault. police say he worked with at least two other suspects and they are still at large. the search is on for this man suspected of robbing three alameda businesses in less than a half hour on sunday. suspect was wearing what looked like a batman beanie. police say last night he robbed a walgreens, wells fargo and alameda cellars. he left in a stolen car and was driving recklessly. there is a possible break in a murder case at a san francisco constructi construction site friday. the 23-year-old los angeles woman fatally stabbed a woman

construction worker because she was denied access to the port-a-potty. sources tell us the suspect is likely linked to a nearly identical stabbing over the same issue at a tenderloin construction site a week earlier. they say everything is bigger in texas including this monster size tornado that whipped through the area. what may surprise you about this supersize twister.

how would you like to drive by that? texas continuing to get hammered by extreme weather. this strong tornado touched down yesterday in masterson. you see the lightning, 30 miles north of amarillo. there are no reports of injury or damages. parts of the texas panhandle were under storm watch and warnings this morning as rain and hail continued to come down. >> i couldn't believe there were no damages. >> there were no homes in the area. >> can't they catch a break? the last couple of months has been weather like that. >> it's spring time and that's about what they expect every year. >> california, yay. >> we cannot complain. especially today when we see that our temperatures will generally be in the 70s. here is a live look now at oracle arena. we are still doing well, right?

we enjoyed the game last night and hopefully will make it much better in game five. as we look at current temperatures now, 54 in livermore. it's 55 in concord, as well as san francisco. coastal clouds this morning then becoming mostly sunny and breezy today. lunch time temperatures will mostly be in the 60s. in the north bay warmer there, 72 with highs there reaching 75. 65 in san francisco. the peninsula reaching 71. expect those temperatures to feel nice today along with the breezy winds. coming in from the northwest at about 15 to 20 miles per hour. the winds stay gusty today. especially along the coast, even later on tonight. half moon bay will have those winds rolling in at about 25 and maybe 30 miles per hour. we'll be slightly cooler today as we do have this area of low pressure. this cold front close by the shore. as we go into thursday, there

will be a chance of some showers and we'll be watching out for that possibility. models are still all over the place. exactly where to place this area of low pressure and where the rain will come down. looks like we could have a fairly unusual pattern for this time of year. 1/4 inch of rain in napa. that's where most of the rain will be in the north bay while the rest of the bay area could see trace amounts of rain. that means a quick passing shower on thursday. meantime we have temperatures that feel nice and comfortable, slightly cooler than average for june. the peninsula, high of 67 on thursday. mostly cloudy skies. a slight chance of rain in san francisco on thursday, as well as the north bay. east bay up to 69 by the end of the week. as we look ahead to the weekend, after a nice little break -- yes, we'll be klaining again, temperatures going back up. 80s on saturday for inland valleys and 90s on sunday. it looks to continue into the start of next week with some

very warm weather. i'll have another look at the forecast coming up. let's head over to mike to see where you may be slowing down on the roads. >> two reports in the east bay, we now have three reports in the east bay. this is fremont. very light traffic flow there. around the bay, green for the most part. over the tri-valley, we talked about west 580. sounds like a flat tire being fixed. there is a family standing on the side of the road with that car so use caution. stay over to your right. chp is not overly concerned but safety is an issue. reports of wood debris in the roadway. there may have been a quick traffic break. traffic does flow smoothly. we see the early signs we see of this slowing there.

the implosion happening with a big fireworks show leading up to the detonation. the riviera site will make way for an expanded convention center which sits nearby. if your morning ritual includes a morning swim, there is one kid who has you beat. about one hour from now he is going to swim to alcatraz. >> 9-year-old james savage will try to make history this morning. he is supposed to set off from aquatic park at 6:30 in an attempt to become the youngest person ever to swim to alcatraz. he's from fresno and has been training at a central valley reservoir for months. his swimming coach will swim alongside him. are we going to beat the heat if we don't jump into icy cold water today? >> we'll have nice comfortable weather the next couple of days. this weekend, a different story. that's coming up in the microclimate forecast. we have a couple new crashes in the east bay. and it's not the first time.
