this morning. certainly a lol cooler out there. >> yes, it is cooler, especially in the north bay, temperatures have dropped back into the 40s. we have mostly clear skies. it will be a cooler day, we are in for mostly sunny skies, it's 53 degrees now in san francisco as well as the south bay. highs today and mostly in the 60s with some low 70s in the south bay, north bay and the tri-valley and san francisco up to 64 degrees. so i'll talk about what else to expect. rain moving in tomorrow. that's coming umm. mooic is heiling road work. what's going on? >> actually, they're highlighting the road work. that's about it at fremont, 880 south of auto mall parkway. circle that area, you see no slowing. don't look directly into the light. highway 13 off 24, there is another construction zone there. that's another one we see slowing. some points you get out t. rest of the crews still out there typical for overnight road work.

we go back to the south bay. flames ripped through a strip mall in san jose, destroying several businesses. >> look at the size of that fire. "today in the bay" chris sanchez live at the scene where hundreds of firefighters are monitoring this situation. chris. >> reporter: good morning to you, laura. good morning to you, sam. there are still firefighters here on scene, some of them wrapping up hoses because the fire is largely under control. you can see behind me, there is still spoke billowing from some part of this strip mall. it is an l-shaped building here on santa ter res ra and catalan in south san jose. this is whatt looked like outside that strip mall. the problem is it was spraying quickly through the attic space of this building. at the height of the fire, it was a four alarm. there were more than 100 firefighters here on scene. the firefighters were not only budget out that fire, they were trying to make sure it did not spread the homes behind part of

the strip mall nor to the gas station here in this same parking lot. it took about two hours of firefighting to get it under control or contained. it was three-and-a-half hours of firefighting before the battalion chief gets it under control. there will be slowing on santa teresa avenue. no road closures, people will be stopping looking at these 20 businesses that will now not be opening today. >> thank you very much, chris. it is 4:33. the police department mourns a fallen officer, an 11 year veteran of that department. thousands of officers gathered last night for a procession in his honor. . a violent crash in north san jose yesterday afternoon. >> left to go to work. he wanted to see his family when he got off. he didn't make it.

>> a minivan struck the motorcycle officer on north 10th street near heading yesterday. police said that van made a left turn right in front of the officer that collided and his bike came to a stop about 100 feet later a. passerby quickly jumped in to try to save his life. >> he provided first-aid to the officer and used his police radio to call for help. >> officer katerman was taken to regional medical center. sadly, he later died. the minivan driver not facing any charges t. fallen officer leaves behind a wife and two children. funeral arrangements are expected to be announced later this woke. of course, we will have live updates following a look at the after math there. a very sad day. our condolences go out to the department and the family as well. >> to the police community in general. a developing story out of

oakland, where a celebration of life quickly turns tragic when a 16-year-old girl is shot and killed. it happened right near city center. hundreds of people were gathered there. why? because they were at a funeral remembering two 15-year-old boys. . they both tragically died in a water accident last month. they were being laid to rest when a fight broke out in the street. that's when two young men walked into the crowd and started firing and four people were hit. >> we heard several shots, probably about six in a row. then at that point i saw a bunch of kid running. >> there were a group of people in the 1,300 block of franklin. there was a group, or two individual striking the victims and then fleeing. >> ken-year-old regina jeffreys was taken to highland hospital,

where she later died t. other three shooting victims are in stable condition. breaking news this morning out of florida where there is a desperate search continuing right now for a two-year-old boy dragged by an alligatoror into a la began to at disney's grand floridian resort. these are like pictures from the scene. overhead, they're still trying to search for that boy. the boy and his father were wadeing in a foot of water when the alligator came up out of nowhere and attacked. it happened about 9:00 last night t. boy's father and mother tried grab the boy from the alligator's mouth, but they were unsuccessful. 50 law enforcement officers spent the entire night searching for the little boy. as you saw earlier, they are still searching. the alligator is believed to be between 4 and 7 photolong t. family of five was visiting from nebraska. they were vacationing at that resort. >> that is just the latest in

what's been -- happening. >> more information and details. lee anne greg is joining us from orlando with the very latest. >> reporter: the gatherings continue. this one last night in orlando and supported the victims. as we learn more about the man that caused this chaos. omar mateen lived two hours from the crime scene in his apartment with his wife norah salman and their three-year-old son. salman told federal agents, she was with her husband when he bought ammunition and a holster and she tried to talk him out of his plans and once drove him by pulse because he wanted to scope out the club, where he would later kill 49 people and injure 53 others. >> i look over and he shoots the girl next to me and i'm just

microcliemts, 70 in saratoga, redwood city. >> a lock at the future-cast shows tomorrow we have a chance of rain moving in. starting out in the north bay, yes, a rare june ryan moving in with the possibility of some pretty good measurements there him as it moves san francisco farther to the south, a lot of that rain falls apart. there is still that possibility we could have trace amounts of rain anywhere around san francisco into the south and to the north, looking at about a quarter of an inch of rain. we talked about temperatures warming up for today, it will be 69 degrees and some upper 70s for the end of the week, by the weekend, we'll be in the upper
