keep others cool at the box office this weekend. i'm dara brown. it's party time in cleveland. the city of cleveland has a champion. the cleveland cavaliers beat the golden state warriors to win their first-ever nba championship and became the first team in history to come back from a 3-1 deficit to win the finals. lebron james lead the way with a triple-double. he's the only third player in history to have a triple-double in game 7 of the finals. james was voted finals mvp. his teammate called him the best player on the planet and even compared him to ludwig beethoven, and it's hard to argue. he's the only player in history to lead both teams in points, rebounds, assists, and blocks. afterwards lebron celebrated with his kids. >> to be able to end this drought, our fans deserve it.

they deserve it. and it was for them. i came back for a reason. i came back to bring a championship to our city. when i came back, i knew i had the right ingredients and right blupt to help this franchise get back to a place we had never been. >> president obama jumped in, tweeting what a game and what a series for the cavs. happy to see king james bring it home for cleveland. and back home, thousands of ecstatic fans took to the streets for the celebration, packing the downtown completely. they deserve it. the city hasn't had a major sports title since 1964. congrats to them. an estimated 50,000 people gathered for a vigil last night in remembrance of the 49 victims of last week's orlando nightclub massacre. the crowd circled around to light candles and honor the victims. many dressed in pride colors and held flags in support. others held signs of messages.

some reading "love always conquers hate" and "free hugs." the names of all 49 victims were read and after each name the crowd chanted "we remember them." how is this for perfect timing? at one point a full rainbow appeared overhead prompting cheers from those on hand. >> the fbi expected to release partial transcripts between omar marteen and hostage negotiators during the siege. it comes as isis puts out a video praising mateen's murderous actions. gabe gutierrez has more. >> reporter: seeking to capitalize on the nightclub massacre, isis release aid propaganda video, as it has in the past. the video shows a man speaking english, claiming to be an american. but investigators are still trying to pinpoint the orlando gunman's exact motive. a senior law enforcement officials tells nbc news that so far they've found no manifesto or anything resembling

based on race or religion. >> i hate the concept of profiling but we have to use common sense. >> reporter: the national rifle association argues gun control isn't the answer. to stop mass shootings like orlando. >> it's like they're trying to stop a freight train with a piece of kleenex. >> reporter: the other measures up for vote include requiring background checks at gun shows and making it harder to restrict sales to the mentally ill. none of those measures are expected to pass. >> tracie potts report tlg. firefighters across the southwest are battling several explosive wildfire this is morning amidst an intense heat wave. in southern california, the fire there grew to nearly 8,000 acres. some shouldering nearly 80 pounds worked around the clock in sweltering heat to save dozens of threatened homes. >> probably the hardest work i have ever done. it's back breaking. wears your body down.

>> in new mexico, the dog head fire already devoured over 17,000 acres. south of albuquerque. with less than 10% of it contained since it began burning a week ago, hundreds of residents were given mandatory evacuation orders. at least one county has declared a state of emergency. meanwhile in arizona, record temperatures and low humidity fueled a 12,000-acre fire. nearby counties are on alert for possible evacuations. the blistering heat proved deadly for some. in arizona, at least four people in their 20s died in separate heat-related incidents over the weekend. temperatures hit triple-digit highs not seen in nearly 50 years. the first victim was hiking on saturday on a trail outside of phoenix. on sunday a woman that worked as a personal trainer died during a morning trek despite packing plenty of water. later that day two hikers had to be rescued by helicopter. one was treated at a local hospital. the other died before deputies could help. and even when night fell, another group succumbed to the

heat. rescue crews found a man dead along a canyon trail. and they are still searching for a missing person. here is nbc meteorologist bill karins here with more on this extreme weather. >> sad, right? almost senseless. you try to tell everyone not to be out there because of the heat. and even 20-year-olds, too. shows you how serious it is. it continues today. peak in some areas and other areas. it doesn't dive off that much either. excessive heat from southern arizona through southern california. san diego under a heat advisory. high temperatures anywhere between 100 and 125. sun burn, heat stroke, heat exhaustion, all of it is possible. and as far as the next few days go, the heat dome still over. it will weaken somewhat but not enough. today we'll be 115 in vegas, 116 in phoenix. 123 los angeles downtown, 104.

temperatures will again level off a little bit. 114 in vegas to 110. it will continue right through the end of this week. of course, we also have that big fire burning there, the sherpa fire. 101 today with gusts of 40 miles per hour. i can't imagine the story. sacramento, southward has the brutal stuff. not that you really need it. but summer officially does start later on today at 6:34 east coast time. >> with temperature this is high, where do you go from here? let's hope down. >> it will. >> thank you so much for that, bill. presummitive republican nominee donald trump now suggests that the united states should seriously consider profiling muslims inside the country as a way to fight

terrorism. >> i hate the concept of profiling but we have to start using common sense and we have to use our heads. we really have to look at profiling. we have to look at it seriously and other countries do it and it's not the worst thing to do. >> house speaker paul ryan made no effort to second guess people in choosing trump as his nomi e nominee. he told chuck todd that he continues to support trump as the standard bearer while making it clear he would not try any rebellion to stop trump in cleveland. hillary clinton is expected to give a speech tomorrow hitting trump mercilessly in ohio, and will follow it up in north carolina on wednesday. joe biden could also go after trump once more. he gives a foreign policy address in washington this afternoon and then senator elizabeth warren. in her new hampshire state

this convention speech this weekend she went after trump over and over again. meanwhile, clinton and outside groups are spending $23 million in ads in battleground states across the country, while republicans spent zero. clinton far surpasses trump but trump doesn't seem to think contributions are needed for his run. here's what he said about a possible self-funded campaign this weekend. >> if the republican party -- and i hope they all come together, because i went them to come together, it would be great. but if for any reason they get a little bit like they don want to help out as much then i'll fund my own campaign. i'd love to do that. >> this morning nbc news is debuting a new digital feature on the rise of donald trump. it walks you through a visual of the campaign and highlights the people that supported him. the united states of trump.
