the freeway right now. >> two freeway crashes but no major issues as far as speed sensors show. we'll go up to the peninsula. it's northbound 208 in redwood city where we have a crash. sounds like lanes are clear the last five minutes. i've seen those developing out of daly city. morning commute kicking in there. starting to kick in a bit for san jose. this crash is over on the shoulder again north of 280 interchange. 880 moves at speed and the rest of silicon valley. just a tiny blip. the east shore freeway coming off the berkeley curve looking here. nice easy drive. no slowing for the maze. the metering lights are on. now to a developing story out of san francisco. a deadly day on the roads for two cyclists killed in separate hit-and-run crashes hours apart.

>> the driver involved is still on the run this morning, but investigators have a big clue they hope will lead to his or her arrest. >> stephanie chuang is live in san francisco with the latest on both investigations. they found the car involved in the first one. >> good morning to you. that's what the big clue is. police have that car involved in the first hit-and-run and have strong leads from that. they stopped short saying they know who they are looking for. the first responders tried but could not save the young woman in her 20s who was riding her bike at golden xwat park last night like so many do. she died after the white honda crashed into her sending her 50 feet away. that driver crossed into oncoming traffic to pass the vehicle, slowing for a moment after hitting the cyclist before taking off. police saw the car with the shattered front window ditched

about a half mile away. police are searching for a second vehicle connected to this case. witnesses shaken by what they saw. >> seeing it happen in front of you is heartbreaking. especially as a cyclist. somebody on the road, you know? 8:30 last night in the so mania neighborhood, a hit-and-run. the driver ran a red light hitting and killing a man riding his bike there. that driver tried to run away but officers caught and arrested him. this is a city with 82,000 bike rides a kay. the city has been working on safety measures to help cyclists. one was along jfk drive where that cyclist was hit in golden gate park last night. they protected bicycling there.

club has opened since the shooting. the wife of the gunman wants a refund for three plane tickets he purchased for the family for a flight to san francisco. he bought the tickets the day before the shooting at the pulse night club. he called the unnamed airline after the massacre and told them her husband died and requested a refund. she has not received any money back for the tickets. a hearing in vallejo and kidnapping case so bizarre thought would be a hoax. the entire case could be tossed out. you may remember matthew muller allegedly broke into the home of erin quinn and denise huskins last year. today muller's lawyer is going to try to have all evidence against him thrown out in court later this morning. the evidence was obtained during an illegal search of his cell

phone. a dog groomer set to enter a plea in court daichlt he is accused of animal cruelty after a dog died in his care. the 38-year-old was arrested last night after a 1-year-old dachshund henry died suddenly while in his care. the dog suffered broken ribs and a punctured lung. the owners have not commented on the case on advice of their attorney. the search continues for a gunman who opened fire in the east bay. the victim is hospitalized in critical condition. our nbc chopper was over the scene in emeryville last night. officers have been interviewing witnesses. right now no one is in custody. hundreds of evacuees who live in duarte are returning home as firefighters continue to

battle a stubborn firefighter. it is 15% contained. most mandatory evacuations in santa barbara county have been listed. the sherpa fire charred 7500 acres. this is 93% contained. look at this video of white sharks swimming along a whale watching boat. this marks the second time in the last four days sharks were spotted there. young white sharks are not known to swim around those parts. experts believe they are attracted by the warmer waters courtesy of el nino. >> many were between five and eight feet. there were a couple that were probably 10 or 12 feet long. >> junior lifeguard program nearby is expected to continue with its normal schedule today despite those sightings.

72. you'll have a more comfortable day compared to more of those spots in the valleys where it will be a lot hotter. high pressure continues to pump in the heat. while it does stay cool along the coast, that onshore flow strong enough to keep the coastal areas cooler than in spots like antioch, livermore and sunol. we are looking at very warm weather and well above average. that continues tomorrow as well. then look at what happens this weekend in san jose. we'll go from the 80s to the low to mid 90s. even upper 90s for early next week. unfortunately, we will not shake this hot weather yet. a great weekend heading our way in san francisco. pride fest going on. it will be in the morning for the parade at 63. noontime 69 and low 70s by the afternoon. the weekend forecast shows that other spots are just going to be very uncomfortable with high heat, a lot of sunshine.

this coming flu season. this morning, the c-d-c says flu-mist isnt working well. ==take== there will be no needle-free vaccines coming to kids this season. the flu mist is not working out well. the vaccine has not protected people against flu for years and shouldn't be used this year. flu mist uses live but weakened strains of flu virus that stimulate the immune system and sprays up your child's nose. in some seasons it's been reported to be more aek fif than some injected vaccines. that accounts for 1/3 of all flu vaccines given to kids. new technology out of stanford could combat one of the biggest challenges facing people with autism. it's called autism glass therapy and runs on google glass. it analyzes faces in realtime and alerts users to which emotions those people are expressing. it's crucial for kids with autism who often have trouble reading the emotions in people's

sexual assault survivors. follow-up now. leaders of the gilroy school district are in the hot seat. gloria allred is filing two more lawsuits against that district. two students say former gilroy high school teacher loug dei sent inappropriate text messages. in one case a mother says she informed officials but nothing was done about it. the district needs to be held accountable. >> negligence, negligent supervision, intentional affliction of emotional distress, gender bias. >> lei was arrested in april for allegedly luring children online. his case is under review. gilroy schools are on summer break. a superintendent and spokeswoman did not return our phone calls. 6:37. new details on the party bus driver who police say had dozens

of teens with alcohol and drugs on his bus facing a judge for the first time. james greene was arrested monday after police received a tip. investigators say onboard that bus they found 33 minors, 30 bolts of hard liquor and a jar of marijuana. he will be arraigned tomorrow. a man is dead and woman still hospitalized because of this fire in santa rosa. it triggered an evacuation of the neighborhood. as firefighters showed up they could hear explosions from a large quantity of ammunition that caught fire. they say it started in the garage. to make matters worse, firefighters couldn't get to the front of the home because of live power lines. san francisco city leaders are desperately trying to get relief for those put out this past weekend's massive fires. the cole hardware store where

the fire started will be demolished. they are trying to get access to relief fund but there is little money for the dozens of people who no longer have homes. in the wake of that fire, city leaders want to make information about emergency exits and fire extinguishers readily available. supervisors are considering a proposal requiring buildings to display fire safety information more prominently. >> a map with symbols to show everyone in the building where things are such as emergency exits, where some of the fire extinguishers are, any information that would be helpful in the event of a fire. the building with 16 units or more would be required to hold a training session every year. just in time for summer, residents will be allowed to water their brown lawns. according to the mercury news, that is a new law as many cities drop mandatory water saving

wildlife leaders keeping their fingers crossed hoping new evidence proves a wolf is living in north california. it shows photos from four trail cameras. this is one of the images captured. wildlife leaders are not sure if it's a wolf, dog or wolf/dog hybrid. hair samples were taken in that area. gray wolves were native to california but driven to extinction in the mid state by the 1960s. >> the nba season just ended. tonight the warriors have the last pick in the first round. >> yesterday that happened to these folks, a victory parade for the cavaliers. about 1.3 million of their closest friends showed up. take a look at this shot. j.r. smith celebrating. look behind him. those are dozens of fans who

developing right w ==laura/boxes== fncphanie chuang is live in san welcome back. here is a look at the top stories on the nbc bay area developing right now. >> police are searching for the driver who slammed into a bicyclist, actually killing her. the crash one of two deadly hit-and-runs in the city within hours. >> good morning to you. police say they are working with very strong leads in tracking down that first driver. nbc bay area has learned that police are searching for a

second vehicle connected to this case, possibly driven by that same man who police say slammed into and killed a cyclist, a woman in her 20s riding her bicycle around 6:20 last night. investigators say that driver who had one passenger had crossed into the opposite lane of traffic and hit that cyclist head on throwing her 50 feet. police found the car with a shattered front window ditched a half mile away. the driver seemed to be going 50 or 60 miles per hour. that is a zone that is 25 miles per hour. around 8:30 last night in the so mania district, about 2 1/2 hours later, another fatal hit-and-run. a driver ran a red light at 7th and howard hitting and killing a man riding a bike there. officers caught and arrested him. police working hard to find the driver of that first hit-and-run
