tell you what i encountered in fremont. a shake-up few predicted. people of great britain are reshaping the european union. >> that prompted the prime minister to resign. >> reporter: there is a sense of shock, for some excitement, for others, real fear. the vote 16 million in favor of staying inside the european union, 17.4 million saying we should leave the european union. the prime minister announced he plans to resign. he will leave in three months. the will of the british people must be respected. they describe this as a sad day for britain and a sad day for europe. the british pound dropped more than it has in decades. economists look at the uncertainty that now is faced in

to be good. some 0 plus homes are gone this morning, burned down to their beams and foundations. about 1,000 other homes are in danger of the same fate. thousands of people are under evacuation orders and are at a red cross center. 40 senior citizens had to be moved from a senior center. adding to the worry and fear, information is going to be hard to come by for some of those evacuees to get because phone towers and power towers are down, too. >> soon as i got to my house there was a sheriff saying get out. >> we're losing everything. >> they just had to get out so fast. this is some of the fire video before night fell. kern county fire department captured a neighborhood where 50 homes were all burning all at the same time. at one point, a hospital was ordered to evacuate, but there was just not enough time.

coalition is calling for improvements after two cyclists were killed in hit-and-runs earlier this week. they are asking to slow down traffic. this follows wednesday night's accident at 7 and howard where a driver ran through a red light and a woman was killed. another woman died riding her bike through golden gate park. she was struck by a driver in a stolen car. >> the city needs to provide infrastructure to provide engineering that makes the streets safer for all road users. the party bus driver police say had dozens of teens with alcohol and drugs on his bus is set to enter a plea in court today. james greene was arrested monday. investigators say onboard that bus they found 33 minors, 30 bottles of hard liquor and a jar

of marijuana. greene faces four drug charges and one felony child endangerment charge. police are looking for a man they say attacked an employee after he was caught shoplifting at the westlake shopping center in daly city. they released this picture in the hopes of capturing that suspect. he lunged at an employee with a knife tuesday. luckily he missed and nobody was injured. the employee reportedly saw that man stealing items and confronted him. this is not the first time the man had stolen from that store. each time he's gotten away from it. 4:41. reaction to a huge legal setback. >> president obama suffers defeat at the hands of a supreme court deadlock. toss to weather and traffic.

any time we start out with clouds, that keeps those temperatures down 2, especially in san francisco and along the coast line. highs today inland will be very hot in gilroy. up to 5. palo alto seeing a high of 89. low 70s in san francisco. santa rosa 89 while 79 in oakland and 90 in pleasanton. seven-day forecast shows we'll have a hot weekend and another hot one today. looking at widespread 80s away from the coast line with 70s in san francisco and around half moon bay. then as we go into tomorrow, we start to see those 90s starting to creep into parts of the south bay as well as the east bay. that will also be the case with some heat building as we go into the weekend. if you are going to sonoma raceway this weekend, it will be very warm. up to 89 this afternoon, low 90s tomorrow as well as sunday. sunday's the big event.

you want to make sure you have the sun block and plenty of water. the beach forecast for tomorrow, we still want to keep in mind there may be rip currents. if there is a high place near the beach where you can look down at the water, you may be able to see a dark kind of channel in the water that shows where those rip currents may be. great tips there. looking at temperatures that will be in the 60s and even low 70s for santa cruz. another look at the forecast coming up. let's head over to mike for a look at the roadways. >> great weather, great condition at the beach. very slow getting there. watch 17 and 92 heading to the coastal areas. right now they are looking fine. all around the bay. i want to zoom into a new crash over fremont. northbound 680 heading up to sunol. it sounds like everything is off the shoulder.

treasury bonds or the dollar or gold. we are seeing market moves today because lots of opinion polls going into the uk vote yesterday suggested the stay camp would come out on top. now investors are caught on the other end and have to move quickly to adjust their portfolios and lower their exposure to great britain now. as far as individual investors and 401(k)s, you shouldn't panic over the market's knee-jerk reaction. this isn't something that will likely happen right away. it is a process that will take a few years. today's decision could keep the fed on the sideline through at least the summer. back to you. >> taking a nose dive here. gold is the only thing up this morning. it was an uneasy night for the president but earlier his immigration plan was effectively blocked by the supreme court. many believe this is the biggest legal defeat of his presidency.

new gun control initiative will be on the november ballot in california. lieutenant governor gavin newsom and supporters submitted 600,000 signatures for safety for all act yesterday. the proposal had several provisions, including making people undergo a background check to buy ammunition, not just weapons. it would require gun owners to turn in large capacity ammunition magazines. a possible sign of compromise in the senate. an amendment that would prevent people on the no-fly list getting guns passed a test vote yesterday. many don't think it will go further than that. the procedural hurdle, the test vote showed it lacked the 60 votes needed to move on. republican leaders indicated this plan to move on from the gun control debate. several senators will hold a press conference pushing for action and pushing for extended
