there has been polling, it showed a close vote. yet there is this sense no one saw it coming. >> well, i think there was a lot of wishful thinking, more like the scottish referendum a while back, people thought their pollings would show it was close but at the end of the day all of those undecided voters would come through and say let's keep the status quo. let's keep britain in the european union. but it didn't happen. >> so what happens now, chris? i mean we talked about a domino effect, people going as far as to say it will now be the breakup of the european union. if there is going to be more to this in terms of dominos where do we look? >> well, i think that france is really the most problematic because it was one of the founding members of the european economic community, founding of the eurozone, all of these things. there is sentiment against europe in france, and the person who is guiding that sentiment is the leader of the far right

national front party who is going to do very well in presidential elections next year, according to all of the polls. even if she doesn't take the final victory herself. >> there is this issue of sovereignty, that was at play in this vote. also, immigration and jobs and in a lot of ways seems those are the real fuel for this fire. >> well, you know savannah, i mean the thing that has gone unsaid too often in the discussions today about brexit is that the driving force in this was the migrant crisis. hundreds of thousands of syrians and north africans in italy and greece and elsewhere they said we've got to stop this. and europe, the european union, the european commission, the european government in brussels seemed completely incapable of dealing with that. and that helped mightily the people pushing the brexit vote in britain. they said what is this government in brussels that it can't stop these people from coming in?

now, did that play the racist sentiment yes, absolutely it did but we can't say everybody who was voting for brexit was a racist or a zen 0 phobe but it affected the emotions and as margaret thatcher used to say referendums are a bad idea, they are based on emotion. >> christopher dickey unparis for us. thank you very much. donald trump kicked off a business trip he happened to have in scotland this morning immediately weighed in on the vote upon landing. katie tour is live. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. as markets both abroad and home were dropping and mounting concerns about a global recession, donald trump is golfing right now at his golf course in scotland. praising brexit and saying that a devaluation of the pound would be good for his business here. donald trump's flying to scottland and landing in political chaos as the uk votes to leave the eu, a move trump encouraged.

impact the election, what it should do is wake some of us up in the sort of political and media elite world which is there has been i would argue a global middle class revolt against political elites and leadership around in western itzed democracies all around the world. and the issue of economic anxiety that's been fueling both bernie sanders and donald trump, in this country, it's ditto in the uk, ditto in france, ditto in germany, in japan. so the point is that this is something that people got to take seriously. the middle class, it's frustrated. just like we've seen here with the use of immigration sort of feeding into fears on economic anxiety that is what fueled what happened there and never mind the fact this is also connected to a decision or a lack of a decision that president obama made when it came to the issue of syria. and that in itself will have a bigger impact i think on the campaign debate about what to do

about the middle east, which of course is helping to lead to the crackup of europe. >> talk about the campaign. as we mentioned trump happens to be in scotland but not on a foreign trip that candidates take, he is there to promote the opening of a golf course. he got some criticism when asked about this world event he started talking about his golf course. >> by the way, savannah, in a parallel universe, a presidential presumptive nominee on the ground in the country that's in the news of the moment could have been political genius. he could be there starting to have meetings and understanding the issue better but instead he is there promoting himself and his own brand, and i've been thinking earlier this week, he ripped into the clintons for what is a charge that others made for years that they use their own political connections to make money, to enrich themselves or to enrich their friends. well, that may be an effective message against the clintons but

he is the right mengen ger using his campaign to prop up his golf course? >> chuck, thanks. >> let's look at the reaction on wall street as we speak. jim cramer at the new york stock exchange. good morning. we saw the european markets get banged up. what do you see in the dow and the u.s. markets? >> i see kind of a nutty situation. this market is barely down, all it's done is reverse yesterday's rally. i think a lot of people here including a lot of local media, a lot of trucks outside from different media outlets would have indicated that we would be down 500, 600, 7. we opened below and rallying. i want to caution it's early in the day, there can be many things that can happen but right now people are taking it in stride. >> i mean, not to contradict you but this thing has gone all over the place, jim. started at 200, to 400, back to 300, up to almost 500. so it's hard to say right now

people are taking it in stride, isn't it? >> well, but i would have expected that we could have been down very much at the opening and then gone down again. so, in stride only because all we've done, matt, is given up yesterday right at this moment. i think that's wrong. i think we could revisit lower prices, all i'm saying is that there should be more reaction than we had. and that we should at least be back to where we were a few weeks ago when we were concerned that brexit so to speak would win. i guess all i'm saying is that it's just kind of business as usual and i would have expected more. there's no panic at all. >> this is just one moment one time, do you expect the economy here in the u.s. in particular, to take it to feel those ripple effects? >> i think there are people that see that our market is a safe haven, our interest rates have gone down again so stocks that yield 3, 4% are doing better. the pain seems to be the

financials because they are the most linked to europe. i think we're being a lit little blind. a level of complacency. i have come on your show when it's down big and said please, let's just be in there and take your time, stay the course. i'm surprised that people are doing that this time. it's almost as if they were prepared for this. but again, it's early, i've seen fridays that have been okay, and badly, mondays lower. i just think that this is not the great buying opportunity i've been waiting for. >> jim cramer, keep an eye on it for us. another major story, a dangerous wild fire growing fast in california. it's destroyed dozens of homes, nbc's miguel almaguer is live in lake isabella. good morning to you. >> reporter: good morning. this is what the fire has done, we got a briefing from officials, it has destroyed 100 structures and counting, this fire did it all in a matter of hours, one of the most aggressive fires we've seen so far this year.

and it may also be the most destructive. overnight exploding out of control and racing toward homes, so called earthkin fire swallowed communities near lake isabella, california. >> it's surreal. i've never been in a fire i've seen so many homes burn. >> reporter: this firefighter documenting the drama in the middle of a fire storm. >> we lost structures in multiple communities. >> reporter: feeding on drought, fueled by scorching temperatures and fanned by the wind. >> one house, second, third here. four or five, six down the street. >> reporter: a wall of flames, hop-scotched from home to home. >> this is a danger zone. >> reporter: the count now at least 80 structures, propane tanks exploding through the day. with damage mounting and at least 1500 homes threatened, massive evacuations are under way. >> i'm in danger of losing

emergency as a band of severe thunderstorms pounded parts of west virginia, causing historic and widespread flooding. that flooding washing some houses right off their foundations. stunned residents watched wa appeared to be part of a house on fire floating down a creek. >> dad, watch out. >> reporter: emergency crews in jackson county responded to reports after toddler swept away by rushing water. but heavy rainfall forced the crews to suspend the search. the storms uprooted trees and knocked over power lines, plunging almost one million residents in darkness. and the small town of richwood, rain watt every swallowed most of the down town area, flooding homes and businesses. in elk view emergency crews are working to rescue hundreds of people, forced to spend the night at a shopping mall after the overpass bridge into the shopping annex was washed away by flood waters. authorities are trying to figure out how to reach those people

good friday morning. i'm meteorologist kari hall. as we take a live look at the golden gate bridge. can't even see it right now. visibility low in spots. we have low clouds and fog near the coast. temperaturewise, 56 degrees in livermore and 62 in san jose. mid 50s for most of the bay area our temperatures spread out as we go through the day, staying cool along the coast. 70 in pacifica. gilroy 95. outer sunset 64. 90 in napa. 79 in oakland. brentwood 96. 93 today in dublin. our temperatures will stay hot for the inland valleys as we go into the next several days. even into next week doesn't look like it will catch much of a break as we stay in the 90s and upper 90s in a few spots. let's head over to mike to see what's happening on the roadways. >> dunbarton bridge slow. that's the biggest backup in the bay area.

into the rest of the day. livermore is 89 degrees in san jose and low 70s in san francisco and act issa rosa is 89 degrees. cooler along the coast and hot temperatures for the valleys. and that is your latest weather. on today food, we'll wrap up a week of meat free main additions. we decided to come up with a black bean burger. >> never had one of these. >> the trick is, a lot are kind of mushy and they don't have much texture. so i think we've come up with a pretty good plan. first of all, we'll use mushrooms which already has a meaty texture to begin with. avoca avocado, tomato, cooked rice.

so it will be kind of cool. first you want to take some garlic and onion. i love putting a little -- because this adds some splaflav and text dhur. you saute it until it gets translucent. then you take it off your fire and let it cool down. now, in a food processor, you take some black beans. reserve some on the side. >> are there any poems regarding beans? >> i think it was wadsworth would once wrote beans, bean, a magical food. anyway, you take whatever mushrooms you happen to like and you pulse a little bit. >> completely? >> just get a little chunky. you take also this, once it's cooled down, you put it in there, as well. so you get it to this

consistency. and then you add some beans, some whole beans. and then you can actually -- is in to. you save the garlic and onion mixture. you also add one whole egg. a binder. and then what you also will combine, some leftover brown rice or white rice if you want, whole beat bread crumbs. >> i was wondering why they looked so dark. >> you can do whatever. also cumin, salt and pepper. you pour that all in. and then you basically mix it up. >> is this when you go in with your hands? >> you could go in with your hands. then people say you didn't wash your hands before on twitter and everybody is whining. >> so hence the wooden spoon. >> you're not in a body suit, you're not wearing a hazmat suit. you'll take that and put it in the fridge about 30 minutes to an hour. once it gets chilled, you form yourself some nice hamburger

patties. nice big meaty patties. the difference, this is a two step cooking process. you take your pattie, put it into a pan. you can do these on the grill, but you'll need one of those grill kind of like pans. because this will stick to the grill grate and then fall through and everybody will complain. so you put it in. and you cook it for about five minutes per side. >> does that cook it all the way lieu? >> does not quite cook it all the way through. do we have any in here? no. they're not in here. they're already out. so you cook them on both sides. you put them in the oven to about 30 minutes at about 300 degrees. and that should cook it through. and then you have this burger pattie that has a terrific texture. >> it actually holds together really well. >> and then you can do whatever you'd like as far as your condiments. you have your lettuce, your tomato, avocado. i also like to make -- >> what's that?

>> siracha is a big thing. if you don't like spicy, you can cut back. >> i've nevered had it. i know. everybody has been talking about it and i'm like what is this spice. >> what is this spice that they speak of? you mix it up. if you like things a little sweeter, you could add relish and also sweetened condensed milk and you get a nice thick consistency. what would you like on your burger? >> i definitely want to try this. i like that. i like everything. >> all right. a little tomato. and a little of that. all right. and then also as a side -- >> oh, that is spicy. it just caught me in the back of the throat. >> and you just slice up some sweet potatoes, toss them with a little olive oil.
