another san francisco pride wee- -- despite security concerns.sao plus - chaos sacramento. another san francisco pride weekend and it went off without a hitch. >> plus chaos in sacramento. a demonstration by white supremacists erupt after hundreds of counter protesters show up. >> firefighters making progress in the deadly fire burning near bakersfield. quali "today in the bay" starts now. thank you for joining us. >> i'm laura garcia. >> we're coming off a warm weekend. >> yeah. it's more of the same coming into monday. >> yeah. no changes. we start off the morning we warm up into the afternoon. expect it to be like yesterday. it's 56 degrees now in the east

bay and the peninsula. and 51 in the north bay. highs up to 95 there. 97 in the south bay. trivalley will be hitting 100 degrees today. a look out there, at least we have clouds along the coast. i'll talk about that and what else to expect throughout the week. that's coming up. tracking a couple of earlier crashes. >> that's right. a couple of issues. you see the speed center is not a problem around the bay. fremont we had an earlier crash reported around dunbar but no lanes were blocked. it just cleared from the map. meanwhile, here in the south bay the second of the two crashes we're talking about south 101 and the capital expressway offramp. it sounds like the activity isolated to part of the offramp which is open for service. we're looking at the live shot north of there. and you'll see san jose. this is north 101 and 680. new this morning check out what is left. the driver of the car crashed

while speeding away from deputies overnight. chp said the driver ran a red light in downtown san jose about 2:00 this morning. that's when the pursuit started. a few minutes later it ended up on highway 101 going up to speeds of 100 miles per hour. eventually the driver lost control spinning across all lanes before coming to a stop. driver was hurt but was expected to be okay. police say he will face charges. thankfully, no one else was hurt. may him at the state capitol. this morning at least ten people are recovering after protesters and white sprim cysts clashed in sacramento on sunday. >> the capitol went on lock down as police scrambled to control the violence. this all started when a group of about 30 demonstrators from the traditionalist workers party were met by 400 counter protesters on the state capitol steps. some threw pieces of concrete

and rocks. several people were stabbed. >> this is crazy. somebody just got stabbed. it's real. it's a real fight. there's nothing exaggerated about it. >> two men suffered head injuries and two others are critically injured this morning from stab wounds. no arrests have been made. a smooth and successful pride in downtown over the weekend. taking on special significance since the orlando shooting. >> it's a huge celebration for the lgbt community but this week was marked for somber awareness for those lives lost. their presence did not dampen the mood as people in colorful costumes showed their spirit. >> personally i'm grateful. i know some people feel

threatened by the police coverage. >> reporter: do you notice it? >> yes. >> there was no major incidents of violence. the san francisco police say the parade went smoothly. should get number of arrests this afternoon. more coverage of pride 2016 check out our website. nbcbayarea.com. to a developing story out of the central valley. firefighters seem to be getting the upper hand on the fire burning 40 miles from bakersfield. it's 40% contained. that's actually up 10% from containment over the weekend. the fire has burned more than 43,000 acres destroying 200 homes. sadly, at least two people have been killed. firefighters say without many dramatic rescues, the death toll could be higher. >> firefighters pulled people from their homes that were immobile and put them in fire engines to get them out of harm's way. the dynamic, fast moving, scary

situation, and the people who were flying for their lives, i can only imagine how scary it must have been. >> a drone got in the way of helicopters helping crews in the area. all helicopters were grounded for a half hour yesterday. corral fire hopes to have the fire fully contained by thursday. a violent weekend at berkeley. there were robberies and fights that landed one person in the hospital. two groups got in an argument. a man got hurt after he was hit with an object. early saturday morning, two people robbed at gunpoint. they had minor injuries. police are looking for three suspects in that incident. san jose city leaders coming together to tackle the homeless problem. >> it begins tomorrow and the city council will consider extending measure aimed at providing more short term housing options. supporters want churches to open up their doors for up to 35 days a year without getting permits. council members are going to

decisions of e term day. one of the most closely watcheda a supreme court is expected to issue the final decision of the term later today. one of the most closely watched cases involves abortion laws. the state passed the law almost three years ago, the number of abortion clinics in the state shrunk from 42 to 19. under the texas law abortion clinics have to meet the same medical centers as walk in surgical centers. they have to have hospital admitting privileges. sponsors say the law protects patients. opponents say the law is geared at stopping abortions. across the country developing story. more heavy rains expected in west virginia where flood waters have claimed the lives of 25 people in the last week. >> so sad. more than 20 counties are under a flash flood watch this morning. the national weather service said downpours are possible and

>> that rain for that guitar from 1988 from 1994. new week same tune, kari. >> more hot weather and no purple rain. >> we're going to have more hot weather. we're just settling in to this pattern where we start off with some clear skies in spots. a look from emoriville toward the bay bridge and not a lot going on. it feels mild in concord. it's 64 degrees and 63 in livermore. oakland 56 degrees and mostly 50s. looking at the highs today it'll be another hot one. fairfield up to 102, concord 92, san francisco seeing the highs reaching into the mid 70s. we'll help you break it down for oakland. here is a look how the temperatures trend.

it will be nice and comfortable through the morning. so whatever you have to do, best get it done before the temperatures start heating up. i would say before noon the best time to get out there and cut the grass and do yard work or try to get out there for a run. the temperatures start to make it to 80 degrees during the middle of the day. we have the high pressure across the region causing hot temperatures, especially for the central valley. look how hot it is there. over 105 degrees. we have some 80s and 90s a few spots will be hitting the triple digits. along the coastline we have some 70s that stick with us for the next couple of days. so the bay bridge series kicking off today, it will be at first pitch at 66 degrees. mild temperatures to start feeling comfortable by the end of the game. winds coming from the northwest at 15 to 20 miles per hour. and our temperature trend over the next several days keeps it in the 90s for the south bay. but then average high of 82.

we're up to 92 today. not smashing any records but we are well above average, and we stay there all throughout the week. even into friday as your temperatures come down a couple of degrees. it's still going to be very hot. i'll have the another look at the forecast coming up in a few minutes. let's head to mike to see what is happening as you head out for the roads this morning >>well, above average, i think, for the roadways. more average this morning. no problems now. we have the one crash in san jose south 101. not a problem for the freeway and freeway speed around the bay at the limit. including the bay bridge no problems in the back up there. the north bay moves well. toward san francisco the event. we look at the bay bridge. a beautiful easy drive across now. the battle for the bridge and we have the a's versus the giants in san francisco. expect more crowds around at&t

park. how about political hardball now. decision 2016 hillary clinton hits the road with rumors running rampant about a running mate. bernie sanders moves closer to supporting her. donald trump defends his comments on britain leaving the european union. tracie potts is tracking it all from washington, d.c. >> reporter: the clinton/warren visit happened this morning in ohio. a rally in cincinnati focussed on the economy as hillary clinton aired this ad. >> the last thing we need is a volatile president. >> reporter: blasting donald trump for saying he's proud of great britain for leaving the european union. >> in turbulent times it cause for tush lens. >> as a person who gets things done is one of the attraction of his candidacy. >> reporter: despite our latest poll showing clinton with a five-point lead, top republicans aring being more comfortable trump can win. >> i think they're beginning to

right the ship. it's a long time until november. >> reporter: today is the first time senator elizabeth warren joins clinton on the campaign trail. ohio is a swing state. warren can help her with progressives there. and so can bernie sanders. >> if she does the right thing, i'm absolutely confident that the vast majority of my supporters will vote for her. >> reporter: the democrats are working on a more progressive platform. sanders said it's a start. tracie potts nbc news washington. hillary clinton is making her way to the bay area this week on the fundraising stop. it's her first in time since becoming the presumptive democratic nominee. she will attend with jamie lee curtis. $1,000 gets you in the door. $27,000 gets you meet and greet. millions of british citizens are calling for a redo on the brexit vote.

an online petition has more than 3 million signatures. actually it looks like 3.5 million. to hold another referendum on whether or not the united kingdom should stay or leave the european union. last thursday 51.9% of voters is calling on britain to leave. the remain or leave vote is legitimate if the winning side gets 60% more of the vote or 75% turn out. any petition with more than 100,000 signatures automatically gets a hearing in parliament. brexit, as you know, has everyone watching the markets. in the meantime july 4th travel plans on a lot of people's mind. now we turn to landon dowdy. good morning, landon. live at cnbc headquarters. >> good morning. a very busy in business news. there could be one thing ahead for the markets today. investors are figuring out the impact of the uk's vote to leave the european union.

u.s. stock futures are lower ahead of the open. it's a mixed picture of global markets. japan a rebounding partially from friday's 8% loss. europe is right across the board. on friday. the dow fell 610 points. the biggest point drop in the history. all told the global markets lost nearly $2.1 trillion in value. it's the largest drop on record. a bumpy road ahead. americans will be in the mood for a road trip this fourth of july weekend. 43 million people will travel. about 5 million more than memorial day weekend. that's largely spurred by gas prices which are at the lowest level in a decade. u.s. drivers save about $20 billion on gas so far this year. and starbucks is expanding the reach. the chain will start selling premium coffee from india at the u.s. in this year. only at their tasting room. back over to you.

start cracking down on illegal celebrating our nation's ib dependence. the fourth of july holiday around the corner. police in several cities will begin cracking down on illegal fireworks. cities like pacifica you can face a thousand dollar fine, even jail time if you're caught with illegal fireworks. the extreme fire danger is forcing counties and cities to step up the crack down efforts this year. some parts of the bay area allow safe and sane fireworks. check with your city for legal fireworks you can enjoy for fourth of july. and officials plan to show the dangers of the illegal fireworks today in santa clara. they will hold a news conference at 1:00 this afternoon. it's good to be prepared. 10,000 people nationwide end up in the er during the fourth of july weekend. another member of the golden state warriors will be representing team usa. >> barns is reportedly joining his fellow teammates draymond
