aston court, only a few blocks away from lundy avenue. >> sharon is there live this morning. sharon, police are not releasing a lot of details at this point. what are you hearing out there? >> reporter: that's right, sam and laura. when we arrived, there were still some police units blocking off aston court, cape aston court and the investigation is still ongoing. police say at about 9:30 last night, they responded it a report of shots fired in the area. and a man slumped over the steering wheel of a car. police found the victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound and he was pronounced dead at the scene. >> we don't have any information right now on a suspect or suspects. nobody is in custody it. we're in the preliminary stages of the investigation trying to locate witnesses and gather evidence. >> reporter: the identity of the victim won't he released until the family has been notified. if you have any information on this case, you're asked to call

the san jose police department. reporting live in san jose. sharon, thank you very much. we have breaking news overnight that is shocking the sports world. it is the passing of a legendary college basketball coach. word of pat summit's death came out in the last couple of hours. summit is the winningest coach ever in division 1 college basketball. she coached the university of tennessee for almost 40 years. her teams were a powerhouse annually. she won 8 national championships. summit, notched 1,098 career victories. she had been suffering from alzheimer's in recent years and turned 64 two weeks ago. a familiar sight. wildfire dangerously close in the south bay. firefighters working into the morning, watching for hot spots. flames erupted yesterday. after a car caught fire and

a spate of violence on local highways. more than 20 have happened since november. thankfully no one died in that shooting. a new plan for affordable housing is now one critical step away from the november ballot. al media county supervisors will vote on affordable housing bond, it would have low income ren teres and also provide down payment assistance. seniors, veterans and disabled will be among those who stand to benefit. $1 billion is needed to repair government owned property in san francisco, and if money is not available soon, work won't get done until 2031. that's according to a grand jury report released yesterday. delayed maintenance could increase costs by $800 million. it could mean government hospitals, playgrounds will suffer. the report also comes down hard on the maintenance division, saying it lacks transparency.
