gradual build for tuesday. fast track lanes moving well. back to you. >> we have breaking news where at least 20 people are dead, killed when two trains collided head on. dozens of others were hurt. take a look at the damage there. the crash happened on a single track railway line. both trains had full cars and rescue crews are trying to get to more victims. italy's prime minister described the crash as quote a moment of tears. we are monitoring all the information coming into our news room. we will bring you updates as soon as we get them. >> happening today family members of the vallejo woman believed to have been kidnapped for ransom will hold a news

conference, the first time we are hearing from the family. >> the victim's family will be out here talking to the media getting us more information about the bizarre and disturbing case. elvira babb has been missing for two weeks last seen by a co-worker who dropped her off at sea food city. her son got a text message asking for a $60,000 ransom. he went to her apartment and found her small dog dead inside with no sign of his mother. two of the four suspects in the case were in court yesterday. friends and family held candle light vigil saying babb is a hard worker and it doesn't make sense. >> this is a tragedy that should

not happen. >> reporter: as you mentioned the family will be out here later today we are told at about 10:30 today and the suspect will be in court at 1:30 this afternoon. reporting live in vallejo. 6:03. a man from the small coastal town near half moon bay is in jail accused of molesting girls over a period of 14 years. daniel miranda was arrested last week. the 66 year old is charged with molesting five girls between 1999 and 2013. the district attorney's office says miranda targeted his daughter's friends when they would come for sleepovers. child protective services notified us that someone who they were interviewing made allegations that they had been sexually molested by him.

>> the sheriff's department says there was not enough evidence for an arrest until last month. once they established a pattern they located three additional victims. miranda pleaded not guilty to 17 felony counts of lewd acts with a child. his bail set at $6 million. >> live look at the sun shining above the dallas texas skyline. president obama is expected to land in that city in about four hours from now. he will speak at a prayer service honoring lives of five police officers shot and killed sniper style last week. we are joined live from dallas. mr. obama joined by vice president joe biden and george w. bush speaking at another mass killing. >> that's right. the president cut his trip to

will draymond green be there. police arrested him early sunday on charges of assault and battery after an incident. you are looking at cell phone video of his arrest. some witnesses report the fan was antagonizing and taunting green. >> shocked, actually. i didn't think he would do something like that. seemed like a good guy. >> mention his olympic status and team usa's only response so far has been to say they are reviewing the matter. some legal experts believe green's arrest may impact his ability to enter brazil because he would have to make changes on his immigration paperwork. the warriors for their part declined to comment saying they need more information about the situation. it's 6:09 tuesday morning.

we have a photo of the inmate who shot and killed two bailiffs in michigan. police say larry gordon was being escorted out of court when he grabbed a gun from an officer, shot the bailiffs in the courtroom and tried to take hostages. he wounded a deputy and citizens listed in stable condition. gordon was quickly shot and killed. now his ex-wife is speaking out. jessica gordon says he was still her best friend. she says she spoke to larry on sunday and gave no indication of the attack. >> all he wanted to do was get

home to our baby girl and to me. he wanted to try to reconcile. >> gordon was in jail on two counts of criminal sexual condu conduct. another tesla crashed and security and exchange commission wonders if the company had been honest enough. >> talking about last week you have the latest. >> this is something the fcc is asking questions. we have been asking them last week. should tesla have told investors about the fatal crash in florida earlier? the wall street journal says it is looking into the timeline. remember what happened. a man is killed while his tesla is in autonomous mode and tesla makes a secondary offering going back to the stock market with more stock to sell to raise more money. as it is raising that money it

the labor market is. economists say we are full employment where it is hard to attract a new employee so they don't want to lose the employees they have. a lot of companies are doing this. jobs we think of as minimum wage often don't pay minimum wage. >> how are they raising? what is starbucks doing on the backs of hard working coffee drinkers everywhere. if the cost of your latte seems to be higher this morning it is not your caffeine-deprived imagination. starbucks going up as much as 30 cents. the company is not saying which drinks will be affected. i guess you find out when you go to order your skinny caramel

degrees to low 70s for the rest of the early afternoon and then by late tonight we'll start to see clouds moving back in and 57 degrees early in the morning. palo alto 89. santa rosa 88 degrees and 92 in sant yauk. we have low 90s in parts of the tri-valley and high pressure is building just to the south of us. it still gives us just enough on shore flow to cause us to have cooler temperature s along the coast. this weekend the area of low pressure moves in to give us a stronger sea breeze and helps cool off temperatures in time for the weekend. as we get a look at san jose highs reaching into the upper 80s to low 90s which is well

below average. we will have highs in the 60s in san francisco by sunday and mid to upper 80s for the valleys by the end of the weekend. let's head to mike now. found flashing lights at the bay bridge. >> swe show you typical flowing and over in the east bay what you would expect maybe lighter for friday. not a big deal. a couple of incidents reported at the bay bridge. didn't see anything on toll plaza camera. this is exhaust from a building. just steam. looking at flashing lights. they have made their way over towards the far right lanes but then the secondary section. there are flashing light tlz and it is a distraction but looks like towards metering lights as you approach the bay bridge.

conditioner while it will be 68 degrees in san francisco. i will talk about the warmup headed our way coming up. mike has a new crash reported in san jose. >> no major injuries reported. this is in a critical spot. we will give you a big spot of speeds. things are looking good. starting to kick in over here. i am going to zoom in here because i will expect the pattern expect for the crash around oakland road. slowing north of there around the airport. this may be part of the crash scene. censors aren't on every section of the roadway. precisely on that section. let me show you the live picture. we have northbound 101 slowing at 680 and oakland road we'll track that and let you know if it will arrive. chris sanchez is out there, as

well. >> reporter: some folks might be stuck in the repair work that will be happening later on today some drivers have been driving over a pot hole that goes straight through the deck. we got video this morning of the area that is going to be repaired. we did use a hands free camera so we were very safe. temporary metal plate you might see is covering the pot holes that will be replaced with permanent fix. this is on the hayward side of the bridge just before the high rise. you might remember cal trans did a major overhaul last may. the cal trans spokesman told us it was replace would polyester concrete which is longer lasting

whether the pot hole has anything to do with the work is not clear. the bridge repairs will effect drivers from 7:00 tonight until 5:00 in the morning tomorrow. it will continue every night until saturday night going into sunday morning. we are talking two lanes of westbound traffic from hayward to san mateo. reroutes will be bay bridge. either way give yourself some time because that is not an easy or fast re-route. if anything changes, if there is a delay or if cal trans finishes early as sometimes they do we will be sure to let you know. >> breaking news out of italy where a desperate rescue operation is underway after two trains collided head on. at least 20 people have died. dozens more are injured.

out there. >> reporter: unfortunately, you're correct. police looking for the man who beat her up. the nation's oldest who will be returning to her job here and it's remarkable to think that it was just two weeks ago that she was attacked during home invasion robbery. a man broke into her home while she slept. the intruder busted her lip, giving her two black eyes. she survived. he escaped with her jewelry, electronics and special coin president obama presented her in recognition with her time at the national parks service. the white house promised to replace the coin while the community raised over $50,000. police still looking for her attacker. she will speak to us later this morning about what happened and her recovery since. she has indicated right after

tracie potts live in washington, d.c. could we see that endorsement today? >> reporter: it is likely to happen today in about han hour and 15 minutes hillary clinton and bernie sanders have a campaign event together in new hampshire. new hampshire is the state where he beat her pretty badly. it was five months ago won by 22 points. now she is the one with enough delegates to get the nomination. we have been waiting to see if he is going to endorse her. today is expected to be that day. there was a lot going on behind the scenes. the standers camp wanted to make sure things they fought for were addressed in the platform. today we are expecting that endorsement. on the other side a lot of other work going on donald trump looking for a running mate.

he should expect an announcement although he hasn't made it clear. unlike mike pence who will be with trump at a fundraiser in indiana seems to be gung ho about being on the short list. then you have chris christie who was an early endorser of donald trump. and then there is mike flynn, the general retired who trump says he like as lot but is looking for someone with political experience. so crystal ball, probably not worth a lot right now because we don't know yet. we could get that announcement before the convention on monday. >> quite a bit of response leading up to picks. tracie potts live from d.c. governor jerry brown launched a campaign to extend some of the most ambitious climate change programs in the country. the center piece is the cap and

trade program forcing companies to meet tougher emissions limits. the program is only authorized to operate until 2020 and it faces numerous challenges. the california air resources board will release a proposed blueprint for continuing the program until 2030. it is quarter to 7:00. in the wake of deadly murder suicide ucla is looking into a system that would lock classroom doors remotely. the system would be the first of its kind in the nation. the security experts worry it could keep first responders and other people who need to get into the classrooms out. a recommendation is expected to be sent by september. last month the campus was locked down when a grad student shot a professor and then killed himself. it has been pokemon mania everywhere in the u.s. police across this area are warning people to be aware of

their surroundings while playing pokemon go. the smash hit game has been out for a couple of days but already got millions of people following their smart phones to the most random places. police in concord spotted pokemon players all over downtown. one person zoned out and put herself in a pretty dangerous position. >> a young girl looking for these pokemons who almost wandered into the street. >> almost walked into the middle of the road. police are cautioning against driving or trespassing while playing pokemon. the free mont police department tweeted asking players to train in well lit populate skpd public areas. >> watch what you are doing. >> that's not the only concern out there. >> you have concerns about the app itself. >> i hate that we are being scrooges.

there is security concerns with the game's software. people notice when you sign in with your google credentials you give the game maker full access to google accounts. the app's maker which is a google spinoff company says it really shouldn't have set it up that way and it is going to fix the problem. in the meantime the company acknowledges the game erroneously requests full access permission but that it will only access basic information and no other google account information is or has been accessed or collected. the bottom line here is there is a disconnect between the legal language and what the companies involved say happened. the app says it has full access. says looking into tesla and what

for san jose going hour by hour in the mid 60s by 9:00 and jumping to upper 70s, low 80s in spots andary nice afternoon. it will be warm for some areas where you may have to turn on the air conditioner. up to 89 degrees and also 89 in palo alto. mission district reaching 58 degrees and upper 80s for north bay while we have a range from 92 in antioch. dublin up to 89 degrees. seven day forecast bottom of the screen shows temperatures warming up between tomorrow as well as thursday and friday. mid week warming caused by high pressure making the valleys warm into the 80s and 90s. by this weekend it starts to come down a couple of degrees as low pressure builds in from the north. that gives us stronger on shore flow that makes it into inland areas. as we look at next five days the average high is 87 degrees.
