weather continues as well. good morning, kari. >> good morning. it does continue with some 50s as you head out the door. it is now 52 degrees in the peninsula and 49 degrees in the north bay. kind of cool. and we'll warm it up to 82 degrees in the north bay. also 83 degrees in the south bay. 80s ♪ south bay, tri-valley, up to 65 degrees in san francisco. the warming tend don't through the week so i'll talk about that coming up in just a few minutes. mike has b.a.r.t. delays and what's going on at the golden gate bridge. >> so we'll talk about the b.a.r.t. delays first. fremont line reported, mechanical equipment problems so we don't know factually what but that is causing delay for the fremont line. major delays specified. that means anything 20 minutes or no, more than 20 minutes, i should say. that will be a problem. fremont in through hayward and downtown oakland. across the golden gate bridge we saw that sign that kari pointed out. there's a crash causing some slowing it looks like from the pattern southbound just about

the north tower. tracking that. affect from the north gi into san francisco right now. that's the only route effected and the only option because the other one means you have to go across the bay to the bay bridge and tough drive across. more mileage. over here, flashing lights off the nimitz freeway. the nimitz freeway not blocked, between 23 and 5th. this is breaking news. i hand it off to you. >> update to breaking news we're coming out of oakland. very active police standoff happening right now. it's been going on for quite some time now. this is video just in to our newsroom. showing a woman, can you see her there? coming out of a building and surrendering to the police. you can make her out in the light there's. eventual eventually kneeling down and to the ground so police offenser it is descend upon her. damian is near in oakland. he joins us now with the latest. you've been out there since early this morning. >> good morning. there isn't that same sense of urgency that we saw earlier this morning but the officer here behind me says this is still an ktive crime scene. there is one man in the backseat

of her patrol car right now. he apparently not handcuffed so he's apparently a witness in all of this. the call came in early this morning of a man bran dishing a gun inside a warehouse on twelfth street in oakland. police surrounded the billing. evacuated many people who are inside that building early this morning. there are some unconfirmed reports of shots fired. the sergeant near at the scene told me that was not the case. we're still trying to confirm that information at this point. they have surrounded a warehouse here on twelfth street. back alley way and front entrance. using a bullhorn to coerce the suspectsed gunman out of that warehouse. at this time, again, officers here at the scene tell me this is still an active crime scene. they have arrested several suspects who were inside that warehouse. had them sitting along the curb and about five minutes ago picked them up and put them into a wagon and supposedly over to police headquarters. we'll bring you the latest as it develops in oakland. damian trujillo, "today in the

bay." more breaking news, personal belongs gone as flames ripped through a storage facility overnight destroying a dozen units. "today in the bay's" bob redell is live from that facility in alameda with the look at the damage left behind. some are completely burnt out. >> they are. unfortunately because they were full of so much stuff there was a lot of fuel to burn. alameda fire department tells us when they arrived around midnight last night six to seven of these units, namely right here behind me, were already fully involved. then they saw smoke pouring out from ten more younits. they had to cut through the steel rollaway doors and the material inside. some of the units were stacked from floor to ceiling. i see a weight set in there. i see small engine or small appliances, shelving, ladders. there's an atv the fire department was able to pull out. this gives you an idea of the items inside this storage yun

pit. probably things you would expect to be seeping in storage units. things people don't necessarily want to keep at home. but they were able to get this fire out. again, it looks like it was six or seven units destroyed. they had ten more units that had smoke pouring out. they cut through those rollaway doors and several more units so the smoke could escape. 25 units suffered heavy smoke damage. the fire department still trying to figure out whcaused this fir l.a. night on singleton avenue in alameda. reporting live here on alameda, bob redell, "today in the bay." >> thank you very much. and yet more breaking news this morning. this from the north bay. look at this video showing fire ripping through a large barn overnight in petaluma. we're told that fire broke out at 2:30 in the morning. the barn was loaded with hay and alfafa stacked to the roof. no animals were injured. 6:04. new this morning, two people in

the hospital in serious condition after a rollover crash in san francisco. rescue crews say it happened a little before 10:00 last night at 43rd and point lobos. so far no word on what might have caused the crash. decision 2016, here's a live look inside of quicken loans arena this morning in cleveland. it is official. donald j. trump is the gop presidential nominee. last night california delegates helped to put trump over the top and officially secure the gop's nomination. trump got all 172 delegates from the golden state. overall, donald trump received more than 1700 delegate votes. well above the tloehreshold he needed. he accepted via satellite in new york. in cleveland his children shared why their father should be america's next president. >> my dad is a natural born encourager. the last person who will ever tell you to lower your sights or

give up your dreams. >> when people tell him it can't be done, that guarantees that he gets it done. >> tonight indiana governor mike pence accepts the vice presidential nomination and will be speaking. nbc's tracie potts will have a live report on what's expected for day three of the gop convention. accounts 6:06. oakland voters will decide on a new rent control measure in the november election. city council members about 2:00 this morning finally agreed to place the renter protection act of 2016 on the ballots. follows a series of packed hearing on that measure. if approved one provision requires landlords to petition for rent increases above the allowable amount based on an new inflation. maybe it was because they were busy but oakland city council members yesterday put off debate about a measure to create a new independent police commission. city leaders are seeking new oversight from recent scandals and controversies involving

officers. a commission would have more clout than the usual review board or auditor and in this case would have the authority to fire the police chief. if the plan does get approved it would ultimately be decided by voters in november. former gilroy teacher is accuse of luring teenage boys into sending him explicit pictures. he's expected to enter a plea in court today. douglas le will be in a san jose courtroom charge with 20 different sex crimes against nine boys. he allegedly posed as a girl online and tricked the boys into sending him nude pictures and videos. some of the victims are his former students at gilroy high school where le was a science teacher. a san francisco man is under arrest this morning after allegedly threatening active police chief on social media. the tweet posted earlier this month calls for toney chaplin's head. police say don hoganson posted his picture next to a guillotine. police arrested the 60-year-old for making criminal threats at

his home on ortega street on monday. neighbors say he put swastikas on his window and within neighbor shared a racest note. chief chaplin says the department is taking all threats seriously. >> the kkk was passing out flyers in san francisco. as you just said, we've had the assassination of police officers across the country right now going on. and so any threat to any public safety official i'm going to look at and take it seriously, even if it's me. >> the threat comes as activists continue to protest san francisco police department's tactics. chaplin has been leading the efforts to reform the department. several cars are shot in the south bay now police do have a new clue to try and catch the gunman. morgan hill police are hoping you recognize this man seen running across the screen in that surveillance video. police believe that man shot nine rounds into multiple parked cars in monterrey and third streets in morgan hill on saturday night. that's right in the downtown

area. no one was injured but those cars were shot and were damaged. berkeley police believe a man who reportedly had a rifle near the berkeley marina yesterday is still on the loose. authorities searched the area for most of yesterday afternoon and evening but they never found the suspect. shortly after noon police got a call about a man on a pedestrian overcrossing who appeared to be carrying a rifle. he was then seen heading into east shore state park. officers shut down roads nearby while they conducted that search. we have had the luxury of layering up here in the last couple of days. a little bit cool. >> not bad but nice finish. beautiful afternoons. >> we've had great weather. you do want to take it in and enjoy it because there will be changes as we go into the next couple of days. it is cool in the north bay. only 49 degrees in napa and santa rosa. it's 57 degrees in san jose and livermore now at 55 degrees. highs today reaching into the 60s. still along the coast. 75 degrees in oakland. and some mid to upper 80s for

fairfield, concord, livermore and more again hill. inland valleys starting to feel warmer today. and that continues as we head into the weekend. and i'll talk more about that coming up in less than ten minutes. heading over to mike now, he has an update on a crash. >> we're looking at most of the bay in the traffic flow around looks pretty good. a little build for the south bay. bigger issues, big build coming out of the north bay. southbound 101. now, the speeds sensors have turned from red to orange but spread out more. what i did get is in marin county fire department was addressing an overturned video mid span on the golden gate bridge. let's look over at the life shot we have and we'll see if there's more traffic coming. no, south koreain' southbound, those four lanes could be filled up with the headlights. we're still restricted about mid span. overturned vehicle. no major injuries but this is a problem, major problem. we may be down to one lane right now as you travel south from marin county towards san francisco. heading up across the richmond/san rafael bridge and bay bridge, a lot more mileage

first, a they lost their apartments and now some of their belongings are missing, too. you may remember that massive six alarm blaze in emeryville which started at a construction site and then it spread to adjacent town homes displacing some of the people that lived there and it took hours to extinguish on july 6th. several people who lived there say their apartments were ransacked and looted. security gates took two weeks to fix and the thieves were able to waltz right into their living space. oakland police have increased their patrols in the area. big marijuana bust on mt. hamilton, 4700 plants. santa clara sheriff's deputies confiscated along with pvc pipe and other grow materials. the number of raids is to five. they say $33 million of pot has been kept off the streets. in the most recent raid last

friday sheriff's deputies arrested a suspect and confiscated a rifle. >> it's a safety issue for the people that walk through those property. we seen on state department, county property, uc santa cruz property and where they own large acre where's the suspects are going on their property and making the marijuana grows. >> the sergeant says environmental damage is bad incruding pollution from all the fertilizer growers use and the water they steal to feed those thirsty plants. san francisco right now investigating two separate carjackings, the police department is, that happened within 24 hours. the first carjacking happened on monday afternoon at 2:00 at third street and yosemite avenue. they took a man's acura legend at gun point. the victim was hot hurt. the second carjacking happened at 2:00 in the morning at silver and san bruno avenues yesterday. two suspects beat a man and took his honda accord and that car has not been found. no arrests made in either case.

it's 6:15. a burglar punched his way right into the ormes of a concord police officer. here's a picture of the arrest itself. officers say they were looking for a burglar after neighbors reported seeing a man breaking into homes yesterday. he apparently tried to hide in the attic and when officers found him, that's when he punched the ceiling and fell right down right into the loving arms of flis. >> loving or waiting. 6:16. facebook is planning to expand its campus but the city of menlo park has to okay it council members debated to propose it. all of this is along state route 84 at the foot of the dumbarton bridge. you will notice it gets clogged with traffic getting on to the bridge. facebook is pledging millions of dollars to tackle the stratraff issues and affordable housing. driveless car bs a may vor part of our future?

there could be answers today as the automated vehicle symposium continues in san francisco. among the speakers, the administrator of national highway traffic and safety administration. goggle is currently exploring self-driving cars. new this morning, spacex making good on delivery of a space station docking port. a dragon capsule arrived at the international space station this morning. with more than two tons of supplies. the shipment includes a docking port needed for future rocket ships. the dragon was launched from cape canaveral, florida, on monday. spacex is working on sending a crew to space. boeing is developing a capsule for astronauts right now. when it comes to pokemon go just about anything you hear these days can be hard to believe. it would have include the turnout tonight for first of its kind crawl. organizers are using social media to plan a pokemon go crawl through san francisco at 6:00 p.m. at both deloris park and the embarcadero.

if you believe the event on facebook page, 8,000 people could be taking part. another 28,000 are interested. nothing to sneeze at. police reportedly plan to add extra patrols along that route because they're expecting such a large crowd. >> they're actually using our forces, police forces now to help people guide them as they are on their pokemon -- >> they're obsessed. >> the police force is to protect the people, not the pokemon. >> you're going to see all these people looking down on an absolutely beautiful day. >> priorities here. >> i know. and we're going to have a lot of sunshine out there. warm temperatures all across the bay area. and a nice little breeze to go along with it. kind of weather like we've had the past couple of days. you see this beautiful sun rise. and we will see temperatures that are nice and cool to start out. it's 51 degrees there. heading up to 81 degrees with a lot of sun as we go into this afternoon. so the rest of the week we will

be a little bit warmer today. and temperatures continue to rise the rest of the week. this weekend we'll be hitting the 90s and it will be hot. so we will talk about that in just a second. let's just get a look at san francisco today. 56 degrees at 8:00. nice cool start. and then some low to mid 60s today with the breezy westerly kind of southwesterly wind coming in today. and a look at the south bay. warmer than the past couple of days. san jose up to 83. half-moon bay, still nice and cool. 68 degrees. and the mission district at 63 degrees. 82 in santa rosa while oakland is at 75. 84 in concord as well as pleasanton and livermore. this area of low pressure continues to move in to the north of us. and it is giving us some more of a southwesterly wind. but what happens as we go into the weekend, high pressure starts to move in from the west. and it causes the heat to build. so we are going to have some very dry weather, high fire danger. the valleys will be making it into the 90s in some spots,

especially across the central valley. over 100 degrees. and it will still be nice and cool in san francisco. a little bit mild eer as we hea towards sunday. inland areas, especially the valleys, making it into the upper 90s. up to 98 degrees on sunday. and that heat continues into the start of next week. now as we head over to mike, you have major delays for b.a.r.t. >> major delays for b.a.r.t. and that continues because of equipment problem. and a major delay into san francisco out of the north bay. over here, this is the golden gate bridge. that sign says -- talks about an accident, caution, accident. it's not northbound. those two lanes are going okay into marin county. it's south. that's why we have so little traffic here. mid span as we look at your map. mid span southbound 101 at the golden gate bridge we'll have a crash. overturned vehicle being addressed by the marin county fire department. looking at the maps you will see the speed sensors will reflect the same thing as we travel through the area. over here the rest of the bay shows what you would expect.

. contra costa county is getting a boost to protect drivers from freeway shootings. supervisors an prod $100,000 for mormon terie monitoring systems. it will be along a stretch of bay point and antioch. authorities have reported almost 40 shootings since last year on five interstates and highways in contra costa and alameda counties. nbc bay area responds to a small business owner in oakland putting $4,000 back in her pocket. >> consumer investigator is k s chris chmura is here with her story. >> it took two days to put four grand in this consumer's pocket. she runs a small marketing

forecast. carl the fog has taken the day off. >> he has. we will have mostly clear skies as you head out across most of san francisco and as you start out the day it's also cool. we have some upper 40s in parts of the north bay. 49 degrees there. 59 in the east bay and 52 degrees in the peninsula. now as we go into the day it will be warming up a little bit warmer than yesterday for the inland areas from the north bay, south bay, and tri-valley. mid 60s for the peninsula and east bay and 65 in san francisco. we will talk about a warming trend heading into the weekend. that's coming up in a few minutes. mike has an update on the golden gate bridge crash. >> we have a clearview because there's no carl the fog here at the golden gate. we also have a clearview of the pavement. no traffic southbound. down to one lane mid span from a crash that has you jammed upcoming across the marin county side. spencer, exit backed up beyond that exit as you come down. pass a couple of exits getting on to the golden gate bridge and mid span where the marin county fire department still trying to

damian trujillo is live. is there still a man armed with a gun inside that warehouse? >> reporter: police don't believe so but they are not sure so they want to make sure. they're calling this a follow-up to an investigation. you can see officers are guarding the back entlans to this place. one opinions here says a resident says that this is an underground nightclub and they're not surprised this is what happened here at this place. there was a bullhorn that police were using to coerce aen expected gunman out. police believe there may be three -- what they're calling witnesses inside this warehouse here on 12th street. they don't know that the gunman is -- or a gunman is still inside. they want to make sure so they're going to send a team in there but they're telling us right now witnesses who are in the stay in there until they can assure their safety will be ensured that the point. right now it does remain an active crime scene. they're bricki inbringing out se

suspects. we can't show you that to not jeopardize the investigation. they have taken several of the suspects into handcuffs and into a wagon and back to police headquarters. at the latest here in oakland, "today in the bay." >> damian, thank you very much. san francisco man is under arrest for posting death threats to the acting chief of police. kris sanchez is live in the newsroom. >> active chief toney chaplin says he's too busy to give the threat too much thought. he is trying to reform the sfpd as we speak. given the timing of the threats within weeks of two sniper attacks on police that is a threat that has to be taken seriously. let's show you what we're talking about here. it is a user with the twitter handle lambofgod who wrote let us behead this black man, please. it was posted earlier this month. the tweet has a picture of a guillotine and acting police toney chaplin. the man arrested was donahoe

four asian cafes in the south bay may be linked to murder cases that have gone cold. san jose police are looking for the man walking in this black sweatshirt in this surveillance video. you will see him there point a gun. we will not show you him pulling the trigger. it happened at a golden king tea house on alum rock avenue in december 2014. police think this homicide may be linked to three others. the most recent, last month at bond wa cafe in the area. the four cafes all in that same general area. >> can't say that these are gang homicides, but i won't be surprised if that ends up being the case. >> san jose police also released this surveillance video from inside the cafe in march. police believe the man seen here holding a ga ing ing a gun in h shot two people. only one survived the attack. the earthquakes hitting south appears to be getting

stronger. monday's afternoon quake measured 4.2. most of them are between two or three magnitude. >> this really is normal for what we have seen. now, it hasn't happened all the time. but this has happened before. >> the quakes are on the san andreas fault. the hayward fault and east bay represents the biggest danger for our region. quick check of your microclimate forecast and we are not shaking things up just yet. kari hall, one more day of cool weather here. good morning. >> good morning. it will be a very nice start to the day as you're heading out it feels like it's in the 40s and 50s. and a lot of sunshine to go along with it. it will be a touch warmer for the inland areas today and the rise in temperatures continue as we go through the week. as we go into the weekend, some spots especially in the valleys will be hitting the upper 90s so we're getting ready for a surge in those temperatures and it will continue into the start of next week. and i'll have details on all of

that coming up in less than ten minutes. mike has a big update for the golden gate bridge. >> that means a big burst of traffic. i just saw it over the last five minutes coming southbound. all four lanes at the toll plaza are active. it looks like the majority of the lanes if not all are clear heading south from the marin side over towards san francisco. the map will show you that marin city exits are the ones jammed up. that is as you come in down towards the city. quick recovery as far as the flow of traffic. again, that's the big backup waiting for you. in the east bay, we have your typical slowing through berkeley and university and the bay bridge toll plaza for interstate 80. moving out towards the rest of the bay. it's the rail still a major delay for b.a.r.t. between fremont and hayward stations baz of a mechanical problem along the track there. everywhere else report nothing more delays other than that. we're looking at the south bay. northbound 101 shows you more traffic flow northbound throughout san jose. this is 101 just north of 680. we also have 87, 85, 280

. 6:45. update to breaking news we've been following since we first came on air at 4:30 this morning.

personal belongings gone as flames ripped through an east bay storage facility overnight destroying a number of units. "today in the bay's" bob redell live at facility inial immediate the with a look at the damage now left behind. bob? >> good morning to you, laura. this happened at the all safe storage facility here on singleton avenue on the alameda. you can see several units that were destroyed. we count six, possibly seventh unit. when this fire started around midnight the alameda fire department arrived. they said these six units were already fully involved. you can see why there are a lot of items which means there's a lot of fuel for that fire which means it took a while to put out. anything knacks in there. you can see small appliances, filing cabinets, a small motor engine, tables, chairs, and the other problem was as this fire burned it's the smoke from the fire spread to other units. the fire department tells us initially ten other units had smoke pouring out of them when they arrived. they ended up having to cut the doors from those units.

in all, 25 units suffered heavy smoke damage. six or seven units destroyed. at the all safe storage facility on the alameda. the fire department trying to determine the cause. reporting live here on alameda, bob redell, "today in the bay." >> bob, thank you very much. feeding off of fears. a union city woman says someone called her claiming to have her daughter and threatening to the kill her if she told anyone and didn't pay up. in the meantime that woman's daughter also received a call at the same time claiming that her mother was kidnapped. the mother asked her po corkers to call police while she was trying to wire money to mexico which is what the callers wanted but before that transaction could be completed, union city police were able to track down the daughter and the mother. the woman is shaken up and did not want to be identified. >> and they said we have your daughter. we have her. you know, and right before i gave him the transaction number for the money, have it in his hands. >> police say they can't trace the call because the number used was fake.

police said if this happens to you ask to speak to the person kidnappednd try to contact your family members to make sure it's not a scam. yet another kidnapping story out of vallejo you. a kaiser employee says she was targeted by two men. hospital called center employee claims she was walking out of work on monday morning when two men in a green minivan tried to lure her into their reek. one of the men started running after the woman but she was able to get away. midsi sanchez knows all too well how serious it may have been. she was kidnapped when she was 8 years old but she escaped. >> it just saddens me. we share something so heart wrenching. >> vallejo has had three kidnapping cases in the past year. 14-year-old pearl pinson and 57-year-old elvira babb remain missing. dead bat rays are washing ashore in alviso and nobody

knows why. alviso woman was walking a i long the shore when the noticed a dozen dead rays. marine experts say large die-offs of rays and sharks have have been reported from san francisco bay for decades. but the reasons are not always clear. the theories is that it's a combination of low oxygen and high salt content that may have contributed to this die-off. >> everything is kind of a theory until it's actually looked into is the way i look at it. so oxygen levels? it's a possibility. do i think there's possibly maybe something in the water? that's also a huge possibility. >> experts add that 12 dead rays is a large number. another oddity now, beaches on the monterrey coast are turning green. >> instead of sand and surf beachgoers are finding tons of seaweed. literally. one beach there called sand city now it's more like salad city. experts say the type of seaweed is actually edible. beachgoers were shocked when they arrived to find their

little bit of a change from the start of this week. and looking at the temperatures, 57 degrees there. mostly clear. we're heading up to 65 degrees for the afternoon highs. a look at all of the bay area. it's 49 degrees in napa and santa rosa. so really cool in spots. 58 in concord. and 57 degrees in san jose. the highs will be topping out in the mid 70s. for oak halandoakland, mid to u. going into the day planner for san francisco, mid 50 tz start. low 60s by this afternoon. another perfect afternoon. all of the microclimate show it warming up to 90 in gilroy today. low 80s for the north bay, p santa rosa, 82. 84 today in pleasanton and livermore. this area of low pressure continues to give us a nice onshore breeze. but if t. wind direction is starting to change a bit.

it's because that low is moving away. north of us. being replaced by high pressure just to the west of us. as we go into the weekend the valleys will be making it into the 90s. closer to 100 degrees as you go over towards the central valley. that increases the fire danger and it will be very hot. looking at the seven-day forecast where san francisco, mid to upper 60s, low 70sthis weekend. inland area, especially in the valleys will up to 98 degrees on sunday. get ready for that. and that heat continues into the start of next week. mike has better news for b.a.r.t. riders. >> that's right. traffic flows well. making up flow from the marin county side. for the b.a.r.t. riders through fremont, they're recovering now from if earlier mechanical problems. there's still a delay but it should be improving be i the minute. here we're looking at the southbound north northbound build. typical pattern. again, we're talking about that recovery and how quickly we go

from the red to the orange and now to the yellow. speed coming up toward the 50-mile-per-hour range as you're approach that golden gate bridge. still slow as you come out of the waldo tunnel. the bay bridge toll plaza has your metering lights on. not an unusual pattern. across the san mateo bridge. good volume of traffic. sun is at your back. coming over into the east bay, the sun is in your eyes here. back to you. >> all right, thank you very much, mike. hollywood is mourning the death of a directing, producing, and writing legend this morning. garry marshall, the man behind a string of television hits including "happy days" and "la verne and shirley" died last night from complications of pneumonia following a stroke. marshall helped launch the career of robin williams by casting him in "mork and mindy" and he directed 20 films including "pretty woman." right now people are leaving flowers on his star along the hollywood walk of fame.

update to breaking news we've been following all morning long. several people arrested after an hour's long standoff with police. >> still an active police situation right now in oakland. damian trujillo has been on the scene. what's the latest? >> it sounds like the s.w.a.t. team has arrived. they're going to attempt to make entry into that building. they're not sure if there is any danger at this point though. but they do want to make sure they believe there may be still a few people in there no might be so-called witnesses or victims in this case. want to make sure they get them out safely. they want to make sure they secure the area around the building and make sure that those folks inside do get out safely and on time. the entry should take place at any moment now.

we've been asked to leave this area because it's going to become quite an active scene here in just a few minutes. we'll bring the latest as it becomes available. live in oakland, i'm damian trujillo, "today in the bay." more breaking news right now. this time out of the north bay. we're going to try to show you video, fire ripping through a large barn overnight in petal a petaluma. we told you about this fire which broke out about 2:30. look at the flames. that barn was loaded with hay and alfafa stacked to the roof. no animals were hurt. new this morning. two people in the hospital in serious condition after a rollover crash in san francisco. rescue crews say it happened a little before 10:00 last night at 43rd and point lobos not too far from the legion of honor. so far no word on what might have caused that crash. new this morning, oakland voters will decide on a new rent control measure in the november election. city council members at ant 2:00

this morning finally agreed to place the renter protection act of 2016 on the ballot. it follows a series of measures on that measure. if voters approve one provision requires them above the allowable amount based on annual inflation. heat control is going to be the issue. moving into the weekend 6:58. so far, pleasant weather this week. >> it continues into today. no major changes, especially along the coastline. 52 degrees in the peninsula. it is cool in the north bay. we've soon 40s there with a mostly sunny start. kind of a different start to the day without low clouds and fog across most of the bay area. so we start out with sun and it will be a little bit warmer in the north bay, south bay, and the tri-valley reaching into 80s. 70s in the east bay and peninsula and cool 60s along the coast. another perfect day. we will see this for a couple of days before it does get a little bit hot for the weekend.

>> a little. >> yes. a lot hot. >> pretty good on the morning commute although the golden gate is still recovering from a crash. >> we had a couple of trouble spots, on the roads, the rail. we'll look at your maps. don't see an unusual pattern. south bay, just starting to see the northbound, all the freeways in the last 15 minutes, speeds start to dip. in the middle of your screen. also slow across the san mateo and dumbarton bridge over from the nimitz freeway in is the recovery laura just mentioned. southbound 101, speeds quickly recovering from basically the waldo tunnel slow across the golden gate bridge. earlier crash had an overturned vehicle mid span discouraging folks over to the right side. it adds all of that mileage and you still have to go through the backup. back here in studio, you have the backup at the bay bridge toll plaza. oh, b.a.r.t. recovers at fremont. that's back on schedule for most of the line.
