latest on the shooting ram middle age in germany leaving seven dead including the gunman. we're learning this morning police say there's no evidence that the shooter is linked to isis, but instead, they say, the shooting is linked to mental illness. that cell phone video there captured the gunfire yesterday that started outside mcdonalds and the gunman move into the mall. nine people killed. the suspect then killed the gun on himself. the 18-year-old had dual citizen from germany and iran. an american woman visiting family in munich says the shooting paralyzed the city. >> there was, like, a family coming towards us. they were in shock. they were telling us, don't go do that mall. we heard gunshots, and, like, people screaming and running away, so we were in shock for five seconds and didn't know what to do. >> in search of the suspect's

home, police found a book on shootings titled "rampage: why students kill." it was carried out on the fifth anniversary of a white sue preppist shooting in norway. many are affected by the shooting last night. we spoke with passengers who just arrived from munich and spoke with people trying to get to germany. this father and son are traveling to munich to join the family for summer vacation. >> i'm not surprised, you know, seems to be that way. i'm sure that germans will take care of it now that, it's going to get worse before it gets better. >> passengers say they will be vigilant, but will not stop traveling. decision 2016, hillary clinton hits the came pain trail with the brand new running mate.

homeland security, jay johnson, was on the floor inspecting secure operations. back in the bay area tense friday afternoon in vacaville as a brush fire threatened homes and forced evacuations. it started in oak canyon lane, and flames quickly spread to the back of many homes, but firefighters were able to aggressively attack them to keep them from overtaking the homes. the fire contained in hours, no structures damaged, and no injuries reported. in better news now, we are doing our best today to clear the shelters helping needy pets find a home. adoption fees will be waived or reduced, depending on the shelter all day today, and shelters are extended hours to make it easier for you to stop by today. for more on how to be a part of giving a pet a forever home, let's check in for the sixth morning in a row, super anchor

dl welcome back to you. it's 7:16, a live look at the sunshining at berkley east bay humane society where animals are up for adoption beginning at 10:00 this morning here and across the bay area. we are participating in clear the shelters day, nbc stations across the country, head out and get the pets forever homes. that begins at 10:00 a.m. remember the days of ordering pizza by phone? you might already order your pies on line, but a new startup is taking it even more high-tech than that with its own robot pizza. this is called zoom. they want to be the amazon of food. zoom is building a pizza ordering app, and get this, robots make your pizza, and then a real live person delivers the food to you in 20 minutes. >> i learned a little bit what

happens from the order is placed to when you have dinner, and i realized there's a couple major innovations. >> the company also bought a pizza delivery truck, and it has built-in ovens on board. pretty cool. the last company to make vcrs is giving it up. hollywood stopped producing vhs tapes more than a decade ago, but folks stillmented to use tapes. now, japan's company says they can no longer find ways to produce the parts, so they are ending production at the end of this month. wow. today is the day nbc bay area's teaming up with nbc stations across the country to clear the shelters helping find homes for needy pets. fees are reduced or waived depending on the shelter all day today, and if you'd like more on how to help out, let's check in with chris who is live at peninsula humane.

bay. there's very, very hot places this afternoon. if you're thinking about headed to the beach, here's the beach forecast. ten degrees where we have been for the past coups weeks, half moon bay is cool, 70 this afternoon, and warm spot, without a doubt, a lot of people heading there this afternoon, 77 in santa cruz and close to 80 in monteray. it's warm across the coastline. the fog cast shows a little to know fog really through the day today, and it builds into san francisco tonight, but by tomorrow morning, it does not move inland. most of the inland cities stay clear tomorrow, and then that fog pushes in monday, and that'll be our coolest day of the upcoming next seven days, but, really, we're not talking all that cool, going from 100 da degrees to 90. it's all relative. look at the wind forecast, there's offshore winds today,

and that's why we don't have the fog pushing inland. that wind keeps the fog at bay. through tonight, not going to see much develop other than the inner bay, oakland, san francisco, freemont. otherwise, clear skies through the rest of the weekend. switching gears to talk about what's happening in hawaii. we have a tropical storm that's making land fall as we speak. it's not overly impressive, but nonetheless, it is actually moving over the main island, and it's going to continue to go through honolulu this weekend. sunday morning, expecting to be up to 40 miles per hour winds there. it'll brush over the islands as we head through the rest of the weekend. traveling that direction or have family there, you may want to give them a quick heads up and contact them to check on them. 98 in santa rosa. 9 is 1 in san jose. over the next seven days, high pressure building. that's going to be the story.

this weekend. >> reporter: dozens of surfers take to the water at the beach despite this sign just yards away warning of a shark sighting within the last 48 hours. surf camp instructor, todd johnson, is not worried. >> a big shark can't get into the water where we surf, it's waist to six feet deep. >> reporter: the police department says the warning comes after a shark was sighted just off the coast. >> reported it was six feet in length and seen it about 80 yards off the shore. >> reporter: johnson says he saw one too. >> it was probably about an eight foot shark just cruising along the deep water in the north end of the beach. >> reporter: johnson said it was a salmon shark or a great white shark. >> i don't want to get close enough to find out, really. >> reporter: still, it's not keeping johnson or the students out of the water. >> if they are hunting, you won't see them. those are the ones you are worried about, not those cruising on top of the water. they are always here, you know,

forecast. you see in san francisco, another shot, clear skies, trying to find fog out there, but there is none to be found. walking the dog this morning, temperatures in the mid-50s. it is sunny and comfortable, and, really, that's the case in the bay area. temperatures really ranging between 57 degrees in san francisco to 60 degrees in san jose, but there's cool spots, half moon bay at 49 degrees. 70 there for a high, 77 in santa cruz, 76 in san francisco. head inland. look at the numbers, we're talking 90s across the board, even for san jose today, so it's going to be a warm day, if not downright hot. take it easy if you are working outside. prolonged hours, more than three to four hours, construction workers, working on the roof, take breaks every 30 minutes and drink water today. >> load up on that water. all right, we'll get the full forecast in a bit. thanks. first, an update on the latest on the shooting rampage in munich germany, leaving ten

the attorney says they have reached a plea deal. greene, you might know by now, accused of slapping a football player in michigan earlier this month. this plea deal makes the case equal to a noise complaint. green would have to stay out of trouble and pay more than $500 in fines. the case is expected to be closed after he returns from the olympic games in rio where he's playing for team usa. the giants renewing an old new york rivalry against the yankees this weekend. san francisco's looking to end the five game losing streak last night at yankees' stadium. they are trailing by one until there's a double, tied the game at two. nice. and then we'll take you to the bottom of the inning now. brandon crawford with a rough night, three errors like this throwing error that ultimately cost the game. the yankees hole on for a 3-2 win. the giants now lost six straight games. but better news, what a night in

trend over the next few days, really, all of the next seven days for all that matters. 58 now in san francisco. high today is 78 degrees later on this afternoon. it's -- 76, i should say, later on this afternoon, warm later at the coastline because we don't have the fog this morning. that's why we warm up quickly. tomorrow, temperatures stay warm. we're talking clear skies, morning, evening, and that's going to make for perfect beach weather in the next few days, 70s through next week at the coastline. 61 for the tri-valley, temperatures sixties in the south bay. later on, warm everywhere. 76 in san francisco. 99 for the try-valley. 84 in the peninsula, and warm for wine country, close to 100 degrees in spots. the heat will be really intense this afternoon, especially inland valleys, you want to hit the beach, 74 for the pacifica, warm, but comfortable. the most comfortable is

welcome back to you at 7:50. today is the day. it is nbc bay area's second annual effort to clear the shelters. we are helping needy pets find homes. adoption fees will either be reduced or completely waived, depending on thearea. there are about 20 helping in the effort, and we are at the peninsula humane society, and there's a dog named elsa, and now you have a bird, if i'm not mistaken? >> reporter: not just cats and dogs today. this is squeaker. he's very quiet. he's been living up to his or her, they are not sure yet, name sake, but he's up for adoption. that wingspan, perfect timing. to tell us more about the more exotic animals is mary ellen.

thank you for having us. what is squeaker, and what pet would he/she make? >> would be a wonderful pet for any first time bird owner. he is a king pigeons. they are not wild birds. they are domesticated and cannot survive in the world. he's a baby at four weeks. >> that's it? wow. how will he compare to a parrot? >> these guys are much better pets than parrots. parrots are relinquished to shelters, but these are found stray. they don't bite, scream, pluck or destroy furniture. >> reporter: good to hear. all right. you renamed him today? >> squeaker is now squeaker named after you. he is fashioning pigeon pants to

out here, a huge block party, starts at 10:00 this morning until 4:00 this afternoon. all the booths being set up, doubling the size this year because of the popularity. this is how well clear the shelters has gone throughout the bay area due to so many bay area families opening up their loving homes to bring home an adorable cat or dog or kitten or puppy or bird oral lmore. >> reporter: we investigate, that's our slogan. behind me, you interviewed chris, but he's double dipping. over here, we have the real chris, which happens to be a cat named chris. so, we're spreading the love around here. chris had a major impact on the animals, apparently, but these are kittens up for adoption. this event is so popular. last year, in fact, 60 animals
