clearing autothe atmosphere, and nevertheless, after that, it's hot. san francisco waking up to a blan at the time of clouds, fog, 55 degrees in the city, and throughout the next couple days, we are waking up to morning clouds, afternoon sun, and temperatures along the coastline stay pretty much in the 60s and 70s through next week. right now, everyone's in the 50s and 60s, and there's low clouds moving inland as far as the south bay and the tri-valley in parts. later on this afternoon, the clouds go, a sunny and warm day for places in morgan hill, livermore, concord, fairfield all in the 90s. 80s in palo alto, and 70s inner bay. 60s and 70s at the bay. normal temperatures there. keep in mind the air quality was really bad, but it's going to improoif today. >> good. it's nice to see fairfield not in the hundreds. >> triple digits, yeah.

it was all week. >> we'll check in later for a detailed forecast. anthony, thanks. new this morning, an early morning fight sent a group of people to the hospital, two for emergency surgery. it happened at 1:30 this morning in on san carlos street. four people injured with stab wounds who have undergone surgery. police have not yet released more information. a teenage girl killed in a car crash in the south bay, and five of our coworkers injured, and now investigators work to see what led to the accident. it happened around 3:00 yesterday afternoon near lafayette street. police and medics responded, and when they did, the teenager who was a passenger in the truck was already dead. the driver and four other passengers were taken to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries.

they say people on the truck were on the way back from catering an event in oakland when they crashed. customers stopping by the restaurant reacted to the news. >> i'm emotional behind it because it's just -- it's a real tragedy. it's awful. >> witnesses told investigators it didn't look like the truck was speeding before the crash. police are checking traffic cameras and the truck's computer system to verify that. a deputy involved in the now infamous beating of a burglary suspect is no longer with the sheriff's department. veteran deputy shawn osborne was fired, one of three officers involved in the car burglary suspect. he and two other deputies chased the suspect from castro valley into san francisco on report of a stolen car. a bystander shot this video of the beating. san francisco's public defender says deputy was seen twerling a

necklace taken off and giving it to witnesses in exchange for their silence. the attorney, however, expects his client to be exonerated. the other two deputies are on paid administrative leave. finally, an arrest in the case of a quadruple homicide in san francisco's hays valley that happened more than a year ago. the police invest gapter says the case was considered a high priority after they found a car riddled with bullets. the four men inside the car were all dead. police called relatives of all four victims yesterday to announce the break in the case. this news is a relief for the mother of 19-year-old. >> i could not rest unless i knew there was an arrest. how can i say i love my son if i'm not fighting for my son? >> yesterday, they arrested 27 lee farley of san francisco, facing a list of possible charges including four counts of murder and participating in a

street gang. police arrested farley in a federal prison in atwater where he's already serving time for being a felon in position of a firearm. court documents revealed he has a long history with drugs and weapons charges. he will appear in court on monday. now to valleo, a mother on a mission of justice when her mom was attacked. her car was stolen tuesday, and she approached the people, and tried to get the car back, and then the situation turn eed violent. >> closed the car door, caught my mom's shirt and dragged my mom putting the car on drive, rolled over her in the u-turn and took off. >> the victim's daughter says the thieves are a man and woman, driving the car all over the north and east bay using the victim's credit cards. the daughter uncovered

surveillance video of the man she thinks is the suspect. there's a photo there. she's begin it to police in hopes of leading to an arrest. a medical transport plane on the way to oakland crashed yesterday, killing all the pmgs on board. four people were killed and we're told parts of the aircraft are spread across the dense forest. the transmission shows the pilot reported smoke in the cockpit after taking off. the plane turned around to go back but crashed about five miles north of the airplane. the plane was registered to a company called cal or life flight, transferring parties throughout northern california and oregon. well, two people are under arrest for the shootings of two san diego police officers early yesterday morning. one of those officers died and just yesterday, police department colleagues gathered with supporters from the public for a vigil to remember him.

the shooting makes departments across the country on high alert following killings in dallas and baton rouge earlier this month. the john deguzman was the officer shot and killed, a 16 year veteran of the police departmentment his partner was shot and seriously wounded. the second suspect was taken into custody after an hour's long swat standoff. >> i can't begin to put in words the emotions and feelings that surround an event like this. this is one of the most difficult and heart wrenching situations for police officers to go through. >> san diego investigators are working to determine if that attack was premeditated. much more ahead on "today in the bay. coming up, growing concerns about zika. new developments scientists are concerned about after people are

welcome back to you at 7:10 on saturday morning, a live look at cloudy skies over san jose. we have those fires burning to the south of us, and anthony slaugter says the air quality will improve today. we'll see temperatures drop just a couple degrees. people in lake county are getting a bit of rez bit from a pair of raging wildfires there. they are burning near the town of clear lake close to where last year's devastating valley fire scorched 76,000 acres. this is video yesterday shot by one of our viewers. one blaze blackened ten acres near highway 53 in clear lake, and the second fire ignited just about five miles north of that, east of highway 53. the fires burned nearly 20 acres

total and destroyed one structure. at last check, the fires were 50% contained, and evacuation orders lifted. meanwhile, help is on the way in the fight to contain the fire burning. fema gave the green light to use federal funds to battle the wildfire that charred 33,000 acres and it's 15% contained. it's burning since last friday and continues to threaten about 300 homes there. a bulldozer was killed in the fire earlier this week. the zika virus took a dramatic turn in florida. four people diagnosed with the virus there, did not catch it or seize meaning the virus was likely spread by local mosquitos. all four patients live within a mime of one another north of miami. state health officials are door to door to get the word out and nearby states are watching closely. >> so this was not unexpected.

notice the trivalley, sun there, but everyone else, cloudy. later on this afternoon, it's going to be nice. 95, though, in the tri-valley. that's the warm spot. comfortable weather, san francisco, you'll have it. 68 later on. the peninsula, north bay in the 70s. today, the fog pushes back to the coastline at noon, and then it rolls back into tonight, really widespread tonight. more fog than this morning, reaching as far south as south san jose and far east as sacramento and tracy. keep in mind as we wake up to clouds this morning, another foggy start expected tomorrow. it's because our winds have shifted. they were coming in from the south all week long, and we had a poor air quality as smoke rose over the bay area. now our winds are coming in from the ocean so that's a cool ocean breeze, and that's going to continue to at least keep the coastline cool. we'll see temperatures warmer, though. the timeline, sunday, tomorrow

morning, when you wake up, again, onshore wind mean fog and cooler weather through your sunday. really not expecting a lot in terms of excessive heat, at least here at home. now, there's air quality alerts for the central valley, heat warnings in san bernardino, and we have red flag fire warnings for really utah, nevada, all the way up towards washington and oregon. now, here at home, again, the heat not going to be overly excessive, but it's very warm for our inpland valland valleys. cool on the coastline, down to santa barbara, and l.a. up into the 70s. tomorrow, again, not expecting a huge swing in temperatures, and, really, the same for tuesday. we're staying where we are today. that's the general trend in the next few days. if you're going to the garlic festival this afternoon, it's warm. hitting 1:00 to 5:00 this afternoon, temperatures will be about 91 to 96 degrees there. it will be hot, hazy, and

traffic cameras and the truck's computer system to verify that. a new clue this morning as police hunt for a man they say maced and tried to kidnap a woman walking to a bus stop. take a look, if you can, police say this sketch of this man, he was wearing black clothing at the time is the person they believe tried to kidnap a 23-year-old woman thursday morning on washington street in san leandro. a good smar ton saw the man dragging the woman into his silver nissan and jumped in to stop him. >> took everything i had to do to make sure she was okay. i pried her free, all the while the guy tries to pull her in, spraying the poor girl in the face with mace, she's gargling it, it's in her eyes. >> authorities say the young woman is okay, but recovering emotionally. the attacker described adds a

black man, a go tee and glasses at 5'10". authorities fear he'll strike again. if you have any information, you're asked to contact the police. the san jose police department deals with stabbing issues, and they say it's a testament how dedicated the officers are. today's in the bay takes a look at the crime rate in the bay area's largest city. >> reporter: this is what burglars did to home in evergreen this week, knocking down doors to get inside. this is where suspects in the burglaries ended up, face down in a creek bed nearby. >> really, really happen. >> reporter: neighbors say they are glad, yet surprised police arrested the suspects so quickly. >> really appreciate their hard work. it's not easy to be called and then actually catch the people. >> reporter: the police chief says the officers are exhausted. many times working on their days off to help the understaffed department and they are mentally fatigued after hearing reports of officers killed in the line

of duty across the country. >> well, they are under a tremendous amount of stress. you know, it's a very tired police department. they've been operating, doing so well for so long with so little. >> reporter: because of understaffing, right now, the department needs to fill 240 shifts a week, each of those filled by officers on overtime. yet, even with all the stress, the chief says he's seen drops in burglaries from 5,000, 167 in 2014 to 4,000 last year, and other crimes. >> we want to be safe like only police can save us. >> reporter: sources tell me the police officers in this picture were all working on their day off or on overtime. nbc bay area news. and now to decision 2016. both conventions are now over, and the presidential nominees wasted no time hitting the campaign trail. hillary clinton and tim kaine traveled to harsburg, pennsylvania yesterday.

also said he has the best temperament of anyone who's ever run for president. a programming note for tomorrow morning's "meet the press," airing at 6:00 a.m., an hour before our newscast right here on nbc bay area. chuck todd focuses on the next 100 days leading up to the election. now to a family along the peninsula. they say they are being e vigted after making complaints about a rat and mold infestation in the apartment. just yesterday, a group rallied outside the apartment complex in san mateo calling for change. he says his kids suffer from asthma because of black mold in the building. he also says the landlords do not properly care for the area, and the heritage realty was to fix the issue, but he received an eviction notice. the deputy mayor spoke on his

behalf. >> he asked, these landlords throughout san mateo, search their souls and to have a heart and take action to fix this very, very serious growing problem amongst our middle class. >> we reached out to the property company for a comment. we have not heard back. in san mateo, there's a just cause eviction measure on this november's ballot. he's getting help. multiple reports that the raiders' linebacker smith entered a treatment center, however, it's not clear what smith is seeking treatment for. the linebacker's currently serving a yearlong suspension for violating the nfl substance abuse policy. this move comes days after smith had denied being in a video that appeared to show him smoking an unknown substance. smith has been to rehab before completing a stint in 2013 after two dui arrests.

welcome back here on saturday, 7:44, time for the microclimate forecast. woodside, there's clouds. the camera is in the mountains, looking into the valley, the coastal range, and there's the fog in the coastal mountains. it's not inland everywhere, but it made it south as san jose. some waking up to clouds this morning throughout the day, but it gets out of here. 56 in san francisco. 56 in santa cruz, and 62 in san jose. later on, san jose, 85 degrees, but the coastline is comfortable, 60s and 70s. warming up in santa rosa, 84 degrees.

conco concord and morgan hill in the mid-90s. it is hot today, especially the tri-valley. temperatures not as hot, back in the upper 80s and low 90s there. mid-80s in the peninsula, and 90s in the tri-valley. the fog today is going back to the coastline. throughout the evening hours. s fog returns, and we expect to see cloudy skies, the coastline, and the interbay and fog moves as far south as san jose and east as fairfield and antioch. tomorrow, we expect another cloudy start and fog peels back to the coastline again because winds shift. all week long, winds come from the south and there's fog e and smoke from the wildfires in the south. that's going to continue to push off towards the east, so we're not going to have to deal with the unhealthy air quality this weekend because of the winds.
