new video just in. captured on the cellphone, smoke pours from a plane on a runway in dubai. 300 people onboard as the entire top half of the plane ignited. plus, a state ravaged by flames sees yet another wildfire breakout. this time in yolo county. forced evacuations are under way as crews work to safe another community in danger. "today in the bay" starts right now. very good wednesday morning. i'm laura garcia-cannon. >> i'm sam brock. we start with a quick look at your forecast. kari hall is standing by. >> nice and cool this morning as you head out. it is 60 degrees in the south bay while 50 degrees now in the

north bay. it will be one of the warmest days of the week in the north bay. 88 in the zhou bay. the tri-valley up to 91 degrees. the peninsula is at 77. as we go into the next several days a cooling trend kicks in so i'll detail that coming up in the microclimate forecast. let's head over to mike already starting out with a major crash in the south bay. >> there is an issue in oakland. overnight construction. minor crash on highway 101. this is the issue in. not a major commute spot but highway 9 completely crossed. big basin way here in the saratoga hills. deadly crash here. again, this is not the major commute spot but it is a major crash for the details on what happened i'm going to hand it over to laura because that is our breaking news. laura? the south bay this morningsh sadly 19-year-old woman is dead, 15-year-old girl in serious condition right now as the vehicle they were in mike just described it, it just went off a cliff right there on the highway 9 and into a tree.

29-year-old man also in the car is missing. the chp believes he may be trapped underneath that car. the crash happened on highway 9 near big basin way about a mile north of redwood gulch road just after 1:00 this morning. right now the highway is closed in both directions with no word on when it will reopen. >>s more breaking news. this from across the world. an emirates jet crash landed in dubai. in the mideast you see the plane. someone at the airport was recording this video of the boeing 777 as it grounded to a halt. passengers say the pilot spoke to them as the plane was approaching dubai saying there was a problem with the landing gear and he would make an emergency landing. this is the aftermath. so far, all the airline is saying about this is that there's been an accident. as you see the entire top part of the plane engulfed in flames. it was burning. but crews got that situation under control within 20 minutes and amazingly, despite how bad

that looks, there were no injuries to report. there are about 300 people onboard that plane that had just flown in from southern india. we are also learning there were six people on the plane from the united states. back home now, developing right now a wildfire is growing in yolo county already forced hundreds of evacuations. some evacuees spent the night at a public safety center north of vacaville. it started at 5:00 p.m. last night. it quickly expanded to 1700 acres. nowing with called the cold fire because it's right now keeld springs canyon. evacuations are in effect for the canyon creek resort and g d golden bear estates. more than 500 new hampshires from napa, solana counties are on the lines right now. mike will have a live update for us in 30 minutes. it is 4:33. happening today santa clara county superior court workers are plaping to walk off the job

in just a couple of hours. we've got video of them picketing on monday. the 330 members of the supervisor your court professional employees association authorized the strike for today after contract talks broke down. clerks say they haven't gotten a raise in years. the court is offering clerks a 4% raise in the first year of a two-year contract. the many clerks say that is just not enough. what cautioned a charter bus to veer into a pole. the video speaks to the seriousness of the crash. the bus driver survived but with major injuries. now investigators may be able to interview him later today. he was just a few miles away from livingston where a fresh driver was due to take over the bus. the conditions of the 18 injured are all said to be improving. that's the good news. the bus was, as you see, almost sliced down the middle by that sign pole at 3:30 in the morning

when the bus hit a pole on northbound highway 99. >> the right seats because of the post, taking them out was on the right side were not there anymore. >> the driver has been identified as 57-year-old mario vasquez. chp officials say he has major injuries and at this point is unable to talk. new this morning, an argument between roommates turns deadly in the east bay. 47-year-old pittsburg man called police early yesterday morning. they told him that he had shot and killed his roommate following a dispute. when police arrived at the home on trident drive they found the 23-year-old roommate dead and the gun used in the shooting. the 47-year-old is in custody and awaiting his first court appearance. former san mateo police officer is pleaded goilt not guilty to rape and sexual assault. he is accused of raping and assaulting four women and a 17-year-old girl. all aft assaults happened

happened while he was on duty. winchester worked for the san mateo police department for ten months last year before submitting his resignation. he entered his plea yoed. it is a stunning turn in the criminal trial against pg&e over pipeline safety. the judge agreed to a request from federal prosecutors reduce their maximum fine to $5.5 million. that's down from the previous $562 million. now, jurors are still deliberating in this case. the utility is accuse of violating pipeline record keeping and testing requirements before and after the 2010 san bruno pipeline explosion. in their brief prosecutors did not explain why they reequest a massive reduction fines. let's check in with kari this morning. cooler temperatures this morning. >> it is cooler this morning but it will be hotter this afternoon. especially for those inland areas. i'll detail that and we'll take a look ahead to the weekend coming up in the microclimate

a suspected bank robber. here's a photo of the map. the woman is accuse of robbing a credit union on ventura avenue. that's the woman police are looking for. she wrote a note to a teller demanding money and then walked out. anyone who can identify her is asked to please contact palo alto police. redwood city, a high schoolteacher aide makes -- is a teacher in redwood city making a court appearance today after being charged with having sex with a student. >> police arrested 22-year-old rodriguez after investigators say an anonymous tipster sent graphic video of rodriguez and the student to the school's vice principal. he approached the 15-year-old student and two began a relationship last spring. rodriguez is accused of having sex with a teen multiple times. >> they started out just as a friendly relationship and it turned into a sexual relationship. the vick tell was never forced into it but it is a crime to

engage in copulation with a minor. >> rodriguez worked part time with the school for two years. it's 4:41 on your wednesday. more than 5,000 firefighters continue to battle tsoberanes fire. a team of san francisco firefighters returned to station number 7 on to sum street yesterday afternoon. they were gone for 11 days in total. strike team 2250 focused on neighborhoods and protecting people's homes. at times they were surrounded by walls of fire. >> as the fire is coming, you know, your adrenaline kicks in and you dig deep and you just do the job you got to do to get it done. >> that fire is now burned through more than 44,000 acres of land, destroying 57 homes in the process. on the whole the fire is now about a quarter contained. coming up, unexpected

starts us out with some low 60s, a few clouds but mostly sunny skies. lunchtime temperature, 77. as you get ready to head home from work it will be in the mid 80s. make sure you have the air conditioner on. we will have more of a breeze though. and that's the reason why we will have some warmer air. it will be hot and for the inland spots and also pretty gusty, too. coming in from the west at about 15 to maybe even 20 miles an hour at times. we will see even stronger winds tomorrow as we get ready for a slight cooler trend and fog starting to roll farther inland, especially between thursday night and early friday morning. highs today reaching 90 in los gatos and spacifica. and santa rosa at 86. walnut creek, 89. low 90s for the tri-valley. that will be one of the spots we'll be watching for a little bit of mild warm-up for today and tomorrow. as high pressure starts to move off to the east we will have way for an area of low pressure to

move in from the north. temperatures will be backing off for the weekend into the 70s and 80s. it looks like a really nice one ahead. in san francisco, high of 67 degrees. mid 60s for the weekend. times of sun and morning fog. and up to 90 today but we'll have some lower 80s starting tomorrow. and into the weekend. expect it to top out in the mid 80s. as we head over to mike, he says they closed the nimitz freeway overnight again. >> yes, kari, the overnight road work. replacing that over crossing at 23rd. they have to close the entire freeway. no delays. sensors are green through oakland. in fact, most of the rest of the bay in the south bay, the activity here. north 101, earlier crash looks like everything is clear without any slowing. no problems. light traffic flow. this blip just showed up southbound 280 right around lawrence. typically that's just a sensor read that will update and then we'll check that -- no incidents reported through that portion of san jose. it's over here the hills outside
