"early today" starts right now. good morning everyone. i'm alex witt. a man went on a stabbing spree in london.

one woman believed to be in her 60s is dead. moments ago we learned the woman who was kill aid long with one of those injured were american. the 19-year-old is currently under police guard at a hospital. she being described -- lon donders waking up to an increased police presence. let's go to matt bradley. what's the latest? >> reporter: thanks. one person dead, five persons injured. three have been released from the hospital this morning. we are waiting on the condition of the other two. the perpetrator has also been released from the hospital but he is still in police custody. there's not much to see right now but a moment ago there was a huge police presence here. this is a really jarring scene. this is the heart of the tourist
