at the time. and describes feeling it as somebody kicking the mattress. here's what he said. >> my mattress was shaking that way and the room felt like the entire building almost was swaying back and forth. but it lasted a long time. it lasted like over 30 seconds, which doesn't seem like a long time but when you're in the middle of it it was a pretty long time. what's going on? >> that coach and his team from rhode island are okay. they were in rome. 80 miles away in amatrice homes scrummed on top of them. the mayor is quoted as saying the town isn't here anymore. here is a look at daylight hours there as the search continues. nearly 12 hours after the quake. rescue workers are working as the ground is still shaking there. you can see one of the bridges in the distance that appears to be compromised by that quake. the death toll right now is at 38. but it is expected to rise as rescue workers reach some of the more rural communities.
