by the afternoon the warmest day of our three-day holiday weekend today today we should see low to mid 80s today. the big picture the seven-day forecast will be one of the cooler days we've seen for awhile in mid 90s. we'll talk about when the heat will arrive coming up in the next weather forecast. >> thank you, rob. we're following breaking news out of the east bay there have been a series of crashes on interstate 880 after police say thieves stole vehicles from a fremont car dealership. here is what happened. investigators say a security guard at the dealership began chasing down the suspects after they got away with those vehicles. at some point, the suspects crashed the vehicles between fremont and hayward on 880. all lanes were shut down of 880. but they're now open again. we have a crew headed in that direction. we'll bring you a live report at 5:30. breaking this morning a 14-year-old boy is recovering after he was hit by a car in oakland.

police say the boy was riding his bike on the sidewalk after spending the day fishing, then swerved on to the street, off the sidewalk, to pass some pedestrians. that's when he was hit by a pickup truck. the driver of the truck did stop after the crash and is cooperating with the investigation. no word at this point exactly how that boy is doing. more news breaking news internationally now out of israel. a building collapsed in tel-aviv and at least two people have died. we're getting new information on this rescue minute by minute. it's the first look we've gotten this morning of video of the scene. that's the collapsed building. you see emergency workers there trying to help those who might be trapped. initially there were reports that 20 people were trapped beneath that rubble. there is still plenty of confusion as to how many are trapped this morning as crews continue their search. fire officials say it began with a collapse of a multilevel underground parking garage in the the process of being built.

. they said it brought down a crane causing part of a building to collapse. we'll follow the breaking news and bring you the most updated information as soon as we have it. extremely dangerous san jose police are looking for this man the 56-year-old accused of trying to kidnap two girls. "today in the bay's" bob redell is live. the suspect is convicted sex offender. do we know what he's done in the past? >> reporter: we do a little bit. according to the megagus law website. david lee rustle has at least two convictions for sex offenses related crimes. police in san jose believe the 56-year-old russell tried to kidnap two young girls. it happened monday of last week at the intersection of hamilton and meridian. the second attempt allegedly happening on thursday at

hillsdale. it's not far from the silicon valley career education technical center. both of these happened around 5:00 in the evening. in both instances girls were able to get away from russell. >> that's sad. i drive around at night for my job, and i think that's scary. i'm here delivering an order now. it's scary. that could have been me. >> reporter: san jose police tell us they're familiar with russell. he's a transient who spent a lot of time in the san jose area. his last known former address is on an apartment on bascom avenue. he was last seen driving a white nissan rogue we put an image of the vehicle on the tv screen. it's an suv. in this particular instance, police say that russell's white nissan rogue does not have any license plates. reporting live outside the san jose police headquarters bob redell "today in the bay."

80s in the forecast. even if the sea breeze is out there. maybe not as strong as it's been over the last few days. we see the marine air compress down. the high pressure builds in. that's the reason the seven-day forecast will start to climb approaching wednesday. but in the meantime, highs may be slightly below average for another day. low 80s around san jose. mid to upper 60s closer to san francisco. me mid 70s around palo alto. mill valley and tri-valley temperatures in the mid 80s. the reason why temperatures have been mild the last three to four days is the tropical pressure keeping it consistent and cooler air aloft. it's about to be replaced by high pressure building in. if the winds turn offshore and the weather models indicate not just the valleys warming up but even at the coast we could see 70s and 80s. notice the changes here even around san francisco and the coast as we hid toward the

thieves cho hit up a fremont dealership overnight. that's the beginning of the story. "today in the bay" joining us live from fremont. there are quite a few different police agencies on the case this morning. >> reporter: good morning, guys. there are a number police agencies, chp, fremont, and hayward police taking part in the investigation. it started with cars stolen from a car dealership in fremont. it lead to a car wreck on 880 north. get to the video we have. according to chp around 4:30 there was a suspect driving a stolen car. they got in a wreck on the freeway way. the person was extra candidated from the car and had minor injuries. that suspect fled the scene. here is chp explaining what happened next. >> it sounds like from parties here and witnesses that party then fled scene on foot and may have gotten into a vehicle being

driven by a friend, which is also stolen. we're investigating could be a stolen vehicle. it could be from a same dealership. i don't have the information now. the suspect got in a stolen lexus. now authorities have one suspect in custody at this time. there was no active search for any other suspects. live in fremont, "today in the bay." also breaking overnight a 14-year-old boy is recovering after he was hit by a car in oakley. police say the boy was riding his bike after spending the day fishing with friend and swerved to pass some pedestrians on the sidewalk. that's when he was hit by a pickup truck. the driver of the truck stopped after the crash and is cooperating with the investigation. right now we don't know what the boy's conditions are. an alert this morning in the south bay san jose police now looking for a 56-year-old man after a very close call. a couple of calls.

close calls and rescues in the san francisco bay. two tourists spotted a man in the water off aquatic bay, aquatic park in san francisco yesterday. that man was face down wearing a life jacket. one of the tourists was a life guard. he jumped in trying to keep the man afloat until help arrived. the victim was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. the second rescue was also at aquatic park. it was within 24 hours of that emergency. on saturday you see a group of sea scouts were thrown into the water when their boat capsized. believe it or not, no one was hurt. dangerous weekend in the waters. also on the roadways. the chp is in full force this holiday weekend to crack down on drunk drivers. so far there have been more than 730 dui arrests statewide and ten deaths. california is on pace to surpass last year's statewide totals. local police departments are beefing up the staff. >> you encourage people to have

visibility as you come in from the north bay this morning. in san jose mostly clear skies. 56 currently should see highs approaching the low 80s. by mid afternoon today the sea breeze out there keeping our temperatures mild to finish off the holiday weekend. you can see the wind speeds picking up mid afternoon from 15 to 20 miles per hour. the gusts across the east bay valley. we're seeing impact here as we see smoke perhaps drifting into the north bay. one of the models it looks for wild fire showing you across the delta and north bay moving from north to south. fires burning on the north bay we see smoke pushing back to the bay area through the evening. 60s near san francisco today. 70 around the peninsula, and for the north bay and tri-valley you'll have highs today in the mid 80s. so probably the warmest day of the three-day holiday weekend, but possibly one of the cooler days in the next seven as the

nominee. meanwhile republican nominee mike pence said that donald trump will release his tax record. the indiana governor made the vow during an interview with nbc's "meet the press." pence said he would release his full returns next week, and donald trump would release his following the completion of an irs audit. he's always said that. both of the democratic nominees hillary clinton and tim kane have already released their tax returns. now to something often on the back of your minds. when the next big earthquake strikes the bay ready? will our bridges be able to withstand it?

171 bridges across california need to be retrofitted to width stand the next big quake. more than 3,000 bridges have been upgraded over the last 30 years. the state said some of the bridges need to be upgraded again because of new earthquake standards and wear and tear. it's an expensive undertaking and we discovered it's what the government can't totally afford now. 35 bridges across the state will get those fixes over the next four years. more than 600,000 commuters travel those bridges each day. the california department of transportation considers those improvements necessary, it says you should feel safe driving across bridges now even before the upgrade are in place. if you have a story for us, call us our tip line or send an
