and those results are posted online. find them for yourself at nbcbayarea.com. more fallout for billy bush in the wake of the trump audio scandal. nbc confirms that bush is being suspended from the "today" show. it is unclear if he will ever return to the broadcast. numerous calls have been made for bush to be disciplined for the release of the vulgar conversation he had with donald trump back in 2005. right now search crews are using sonar equipment to scan the bottom of the san francisco bay looking for a boat that capsized over the weekend tossing all of those people into those cold waters, including three children. >> you can see the frightening video there. "today in the bay's" pete surato is live this morning. and so good news, nobody died in this accident. >> all the passengers are expected to survive, including a 5-year-old, one of eight sent to a hospital. he's described as being in good condition.

it was quite a scene on saturday when the boat capsized. >> coming in. >> get the life jacket. >> reporter: you can see life vests thrown into the water from nearby boaters. the boat capsized near pier 45 on saturday. today we will see crews with sfpd using sonar equipment to look for the boat that's completely underwater. they will investigate a number of things as it relates to this accident such as if the 30 passengers on board may have been too many for that boat and if there were enough life vests on the boat. also if alcohol may have played a factor. most importantly what caused this accident in the first place. witnesses here on saturday described it as a chaotic scene. >> there was a ton of people in the water. just started throwing life rings. >> a lot of people in the water.

couple kids in the water. >> reporter: that investigation began sunday night and will carry on through today. investigate hearse to wait out for things to clear out following that busy weekend of fleet week air show activities. no charges have been filed, and sfpd says it could be a few weeks before we know who's at faul fault. >> tragic new details on a violent home invasion investigation in san jose. the elderly woman who neighbor's called miss flo died of her injuries. now that suspect will likely face murder charges. 88-year-old flo douglas died early saturday morning. she spent the last four weeks in critical condition. deputies arrested 19-year-old zachary quinn for the assault. he lived directly across the street from douglas and was caught on camera driving her car and using her credit cards. now that she's gone, friends and family have a specific message

for her accused killer. >> tell the truth, in spite of what anyone else tells you, tell the truth for your own conscious. >> there's a gofundme account for douglas, it was intended to pay for her ongoing care, now that she passed it will be used for her funeral expenses. that suspect is due back in court at the beginning of next month. new this morning, more bad news for samsung regarding its popular smartphone. new reports say samsung is temporarily halting production of its galaxy note 7 smartphone. the phone was originally recalled after reports that some guys were catching fire. now the replacements may have the same issue. a southwest airlines flight in kentucky had to be evacuated because of smoke coming from one of those phones. it is a good day to grab a pumpkin spice latte and head to half moon bay for the pumpkin weigh off which is happening at the historic half moon bay

spots inland. after today, san francisco looking at a cooling friend that will take us through the week leading us up to rain chances thursday neegt and friday. inland spots seeing temperatures drop off. nowhere near the 80s and 90s. increasing chances of rain wrapping up the week. >> chances for a good commute right now, i would love for you to stick around as long as you can for the morning show and get that important news. one of the few spots we have slowing, southbound 680, reports of a crash, slowing from monument down through this area, south of 242 heading towards that walnut creek interchange. that crash should be out of the lanes any second. the rest of your approach towards the bay bridge moves well. fog indicated for the north bay. the bay bridge did report -- there was report of a crash at the bay bridge near the toll plaza. we'll give you the live look out there. we don't see disturbances to any of the lanes. a couple lanes did have cars in

the fbi is on the creepy clown case. clowns have been posting threatening m ining messages to across this area and the nation. oakland unified claims the fbi has the technology needed to find those who posted the threats. the district went on lockout mode on friday because of threats like that. there have been clown sightings across the country. in michigan, a 7-year-old boy said a clown tried to grab him. >> he had red hair, a red nose. he dragged the knife on my arm. >> there have been clown sightings in san jose as well and the police say they are take the threats seriously. it is 6:14 right now. u.s. secretary of state john kerry is making a trip to silicon valley to promote climate change today.

he will take part in a roundtable discussion about new and innovative ways to promote and use clean energy. this is happening at the four seasons hotel in palo alto. kerry has been an advocate for the tech industry and its role helping to solve some of the greatest issues. most people working in the gig economy just as driving for uber or making on-demand deliveries are not there for the flexibility, for some of them it's the only option they have. up to 30% of american wokkers are part of the so-called gig economy. most workers are from low income households and most choose the gig economy for lack of better options. most gig economy companies don't offer employees help or other benefits. the tech world is buzzing over tesla's next big thing. elon musk says is he about to unveil a new product. he tweeted over the weekend that

there will be a product unveiling on monday. musk says this will be a separate product from another unveiling that will happen on the 28th involving tesla and solarcity. experts think possibilities include a new vehicle or improvements to the autonomous driving feature. >> you may have noticed prices at the pump have been going up over the past two weeks. industry analysts say retail e and refiners are upping their prices in response to the rise in crude oil. the highest price of gas for unleaded is right here in the bay area. in san francisco you will pay $2.92 a gallon. elsewhere, san jose, $2.80. oakland, the average is $2.79. new discovery at one of the bay area's iconic historical landmarks. >> preservation team opened up a sealed off attic in the winchester house in san jose. >> what do you think they found

coast. some fog, 40s and 50s right now. drizzle in san francisco. 45 in the north bay. look at that view, san bruno, you have some low clouds, 57 degrees. in san francisco, the fog taking over the west side of downtown. 52 right now. the low clouds, reducing visibility. half moon bay is less than 200 feet right now. that is not good news for your coastal commutes. mike is keeping an eye on that. notice the effects of the ocean air conditioning and low clouds dropping our temperatures well out of the 80s and 90s inland. mostly 7 0s and increasing high clouds. temperatures around the south bay, mid to upper 70s. 60s from the peninsula into san francisco. for the north bay and tri valley, highs down 10, 15 degrees from what we saw this weekend. 70s for most spots inland. watch the progression in the seven-day forecast moving forward a system here approaching on thursday with a tap of moisture that extends out to the north of the hawaiian

islands. when we get this this can be a rainfall boost at times when it aims in on the pacific northwest and the bay area. we'll see this pattern evolve thursday into friday. a second system to follow as we head into the weekend. rainfall projections here, very impressive by mid-october standards. 200 to 300% of average if that verifies for the coast. they could see three to five inches for the bay area. a little less south. three out of the next seven days has the rain chance making a comeback. for san francisco, thursday night into friday, inland locations much cooler than we saw this weekend. >> we'll hope for an easier commute despite that rain but tracking things, you have warned us about half moon bay. down to a couple hundred feet visibility along the coast. keep that in mind. also tough to see anything but the giant pumpkins where bob redell is following those.

"today in the bay's" tracie potts is live in washington, d.c. with a recap and reaction this morning. tracie, what's the fallout? >> initial reaction from the overnight surveys is that hillary clinton won the debate by 5 points, or in another one where they admittedly asked more democrats, by more than 20 points. >> how you are feeling? >> i feel great. >> we won the debate tonight clearly. >> reporter: both sides spinning victory after a debate that dealt with the videotape. donald trump more than a decade ago saying he kissed and groped women against their will. >> you bragged you have sexually assaulted women. do you understand that? >> no, i didn't say that at all.

i disagree with her judgment in many cases, but she does fight hard and she doesn't quit and she doesn't give up. i consider that to be a good trait. >> the third and final presidential debate is set for next wednesday, october 19th. >> so no competition with football at least at that time. as the presidential candidates debated in st. louis, a running mate campaigned in the california capital. democratic vice presidential candidate tim kaine was in sacramento yesterday. a large crowd was lined up outside the golden one center to hear him speak at the fund-raiser there. many people attending the event seemed confident they were about to see the next vice president speak. including the sacramento mayor-elect who doesn't think donald trump can bounce back from the most recent controversy. >> i think it's over. maybe it was over already. >> donald trump's running mate, mike pence, canceled a scheduled visit to new jersey today. it is 6:35.

an 11-month-old baby girl is recovering after being shot in a home in petaluma over the weekend. police say the shooting appears to be an accident and investigators are trying to figure out how it happened. the child is expected to survive. there are no plans on arresting anyone at this time. also in sonoma county, a boy stabbed numerous times at a school playground. deputies say it happened saturday at the sheppard accelerated elementary school. the boy was skateboarding when several classmates attacked him. no word on the boy's condition. no arrests have been made. the search is on this morning to find the boat that flipped in the san francisco bay this weekend tossing all of those folks into the cold waters. sonar equipment is being brought in. 30 people were on board including several children of that privately owned 34-foot cab din cruiser which capsized near

pier 45 on saturday. investigators are looking into the heavy number of people on board, whether it was too many, and whether there were enough life vests for everyone. teams dived last night and today they will try to locate the boat which is now at the bottom of the bay. >> it may drift a bit with the tide. if it's on the bottom, as we suspect, it won't move terribly far. >> all passengers who were hospitalized are better. most have already been released. even a 5-year-old boy on board has improved to good condition. no doubt the san francisco bay was more crowded than usual but of the fleet week festivities. >> quite a show by the blue angels. they took to the skies this weekend. people arrived hours early to get a glimpse of the bad boys in action. >> i saw them fly over the bridge, that's one of my favorite parts. it's pretty, and i also like how loud they are. >> spectacular. the blue angels are done for

operations in international waters. the missiles came from a territory controlled by rebels fighting the yemeni government. saudi arabia led air strikes killing 140 people attending a funeral on saturday. fighting in yemen began last year. a community is grieving this morning after two officers are gunned down this weekend. as palm springs continues to mourn their deaths, we're learning more about the man accused in the killing. people gathered for a vigil last night to remember the two officers killed saturday. the officers were responding to a family dispute at a home when a man opened fire. the officers killed were jose gilbert vega, a 35-year veteran of the department due to retire in december. lesley zerebny, who had recently returned to duty after giving birth. >> a real genuine nice guy. always there to help. >> people respected them. people loved them in the community. >> very tough. you know, i feel sad for him, for his family. for lesley's family.

may apply for fda approval by the end of this year. there's a nestle recall to warn you about this morning. the foodmaker is recalling its drumstick ice cream cones in 16 count variety packs and 24 count vanilla packs. the products tested positive for listeria which can cause fever and diarrhediarrhea. they were sold at stores throughout the country. hopefully you're not sending your kids off to school today with kraft lunchables ham stackers. nearly 1,000 pounds are being recalled. the usda says the lunchables have wheat and soy which are known allergens but kraft didn't put that information on the packaging. there's been no reports of anyone getting sick so far from those lunchables. >> regular sandwiches it is. imagine working six hours a day. some workers in sweden are having a reality of that right now, but it's part of an experiment.
