about to change. what to expect as the first major rain storm in months moves in. "today in the bay" starts right now. kind of a dark start to our morning, waiting for the sun's arrival. i'm laura garcia-cannon. >> i'm scott mcgrew in for sam brock. we want to talk first with mike if we could because apparently there is a fairly good wreck out there, mike. >> yes, fairly bad wreck for the big rig. no injuries reported yesterday. we're still waiting on more information from chp. it sounds like there maybe an suv involved as well. this is down in san jose, south of san jose international airport and highway 87. the southbound direction coming down into san jose out of mountain view, we have the two right lanes, the right lanes are blocked. the two left lanes are open getting toward the center divide. a lot of slowing once crews first arrived. now it looks like traffic flow has smooth out. half your freeway is blocked. this is countercommute in the

southbound direction. this will likely not clear for quite some time. no word from chp on when they hope to have the lanes open. that's a distraction for the northbound commute. right now the commute shows at 101 and 85 all the way to where they meet in sunnyvale, they're at the speed limit. at least the weather not making things worse. the overturned big rig, different story heading towards tomorrow morning. right now we've got clouds on the increase, afternoon temperatures for today will be pretty mild. for the next couple days, you can see the rain totals track across the bay area and into the rest of northern california. the most we've seen since mid march. some places on the northern california coastline as much as ten inches of rain. we'll let you know how much you can expect from your friday storm coming up in a few minutes. new allegations against donald trump. several women claim the republican candidate made unwelcome sexual advances towards them. he's denying everything. "today in the bay's" tracie potts live in washington tracking the fallout.

these allegations detailed by several different women from all over the country. >> reporter: exactly. trump says they're all wrong, threatening to sue "the new york times" if they don't distract the story. he says it's a distraction from the clinton e-mails. these accusers have come forward and gone forward. >> he was like an act pus. it was like he had six arms. he was all over the place. >> reporter: jessica leeds tells "the new york times" that happened when she sat next to donald trump on a plane. pageant contestants also coming forward. >> he turned to me and embraced me and giving me a kiss on the lips. i remember being shocked. >> reporter: several women making allegations including one in south florida where trump rallies today. nbc has not verified their claims. the trump campaign denies any of it ever happened and questions why these women waited years until weeks before the election to report it. >> he's doubled down, he doubled

down on his excuse that it's just locker room talk. i've got to tell you, after he said that in the last debate, the most amazing thing happened. athletes and coaches started speaking out. >> reporter: trump says the allegations are distracting from leaked e-mails from hillary clinton's aides. the latest wikileaks documents shows allegations of anti catholic. >> she deleted the e-mails. she has to go to jail. >> reporter: the clinton campaign calls it a faux controversy pushed by russian hackers determined to get trump elected. here in washington there's an anti trump union protesting. they say they want to talk about how trump is treating his workers in las vegas which is where we will be soon turning our focus because of the debate happening next wednesday. >> tracie potts, thank you.

a local hotel in the south bay. last night a woman named jasmine showed up at the hotel for a meeting arranged through a sex website. through tears, she told officers she just lost her job and is doing this to support her mother even though a background check shows she has an outstanding arrest warrant for prostitution, the officers decided to treat her as a victim. >> we had the option of taking her to jail. we had the option of not doing anything and walking away. and we had the third option because we have advocates on scene with us, to be able to offer service offer services. >> johns who came to the hotel looking for sex. the task force tells us officers issued 13 misdemeanor citations. made one arrest for felony human trafficking and rescued two people believed to be victims of human trafficking. laura, scott. >> all right. interesting case there. thank you very much.

another developing story we're following this morning, a suspect behind bars after a chase up the peninsula. that pursuit ended near the city college of san francisco last night. san bruno police say it started with a car burglary and a shot was fired in the parking lot of an i hope in san bruno. no word on the identity of the suspect. a rash of killings in san francisco has people in one hard hit neighborhood asking police what's going on. >> so far there have been eight homicides just this month. ingleside district residents have had two in the past week after only having one in the previous 2 1/2 years. memorials mark the shootings and the scenes, one on plymouth avenue near broad, the other on head street. police held a community meeting last night where residents say they are on edge. >> we have no information right now to believe it's gang related. we have no information to believe it's retaliation for anything. that is what we're going on right now. >> i don't feel safe going outside at night, going out to hang out with friends or even

going outside to walk my dog. >> some of the people at the meeting suggested the police have a substation for the neighborhood. a man is under a arrest accused of starting a fire along a popular east bay trail. police arrested mark smith yesterday morning. a witness told us she saw smith throw a safety flare into the brush. it all stems from an ongoing fight over homeless camps along the trail. now police are trying to figure out if smith is behind more than 30 small brush fires on the nearby iron horse trail in concord. 5:07. let's get to your micro climate forecast. we've been talking about the storms, rob. here they come. >> within the next 24 hours we'll see big changes around the bay area as we've got clouds on the increase today. but one more day of pretty mild temperatures, mid 70s expected around san jose. upper 60s in san francisco and around santa rosa we'll begin to

see light rain showing up as we move into the afternoon. here is the timeline for the storms. tomorrow morning wind and rain through san francisco. i think most of saturday could be a break between the rain before more rain comes in saturday evening into sunday. a rainy start for tomorrow and rain aufd and on into the weekend showers. now tracking big problems in san jose with the morning commute. >> seconds ago we got this video in. this overturned understand truck. two trailers. fire crews are on scene. this is why the right two lanes of southbound 101 are closed south of highway 87. no word on how they're going to have to lift this. if this is full like it seems like it must be because of the double trailer, they may have to off-load all the items first. that could take quite sometimes. this is again south of the airport, southbound 101 shows slowing from highway 87, not far from the studio over toward

tesla's plan to expand itfremon its first step forward today. welcome back. happening today, tesla's plan to expand its fremont factory and eventually add thousands of jobs takes its first step forward today. tesla wants to nearly double in size with 11 new buildings on the site of its warm springs facility. you see the proposed buildings in red there. that expansion would create an additional 3,000 jobs. tonight company representatives will present the plan to fremont's planning commission at the city council chambers. 5:13 right now. resigning and leaving behind $41 million on the table. that's what the embattled wells fargo ceo john stumpf is doing. his early retirement comes after the bank acknowledged thousands of employees were pressured to meet aggressive sales targets by opening bogus accounts without customers' knowledge. a prominent bay area attorney representing shareholders of the bank says stumpf's resignation does not go far enough. >> the stock is starting to

not releasing the suspect's statement. some are wondering why a campus crime alert was not issued soon sooner. the information at the time including the fact that the suspect had been identified and was being monitored, there was no threat to the campus community. students may be outraged, but officials did follow the rules for reporting on campus crimes. the investigative unit reviewed the details of the law that requires colleges to inform the public about crimes on or near campus. it says schools have to let people know about crimes in a timely manner, but only if those crimes pose an ongoing threat to students or employees. it's up to police to determine what is an ongoing threat. they didn't send out an alert because they interviewed and

investigated that suspect right away. a correction on information we reported on the story during yesterday morning's newscast. our report included details that could have incorrectly implied an identity of a suspect in the assaults. we don't know the name or identity of the suspect and we apologize for the error. police are investigating a late night armed robbery. it happened about 1:00 yesterday morning near the school's lab. a man was robbed at gunpoint. he complied and was not harmed. police do not have details on a suspect. a storm is brewing this morning. a cloudy start to the thursday morning, but nothing compared to what tomorrow will bring. communities are already preparing. >> today in the bay pete is live in the valley with how they're

gearing up. >> the storm is expected to start in the north bay, and for homeowners you want to check trees above your homes and these nearby drains. this drain is cleared out. here are tips when you're hitting the road and dealing with this storm. when you're driving, you want to be aware of flooding on the road so take your time. as for homeowners, trim your trees or removing them if they can put your home in danger due to the storm and you may want to get a ladder out and get on the roof top and clean out the gutters. later this morning you'll have pg&e with crews cleaning tree limbs and vegetations from around the power lines to reduce the risk of the trees coming in contact with the lines to creates power outages. if you see power lines, call 911

police say it was started after he allegedly attacked somebody with a hatchet. the police dog jelly then just tracked him into a background shed where the suspect tried to fight off the dog with garden sheers. police say jelly is back at home, but remains under heavy medication. we know the identity of the man killed in the jail. the sheriff's department says he was a 56-year-old of union city p he was arrested in january on an assault charge. the victim and the man accused of killing him were cell mates. teachers are fed up over contract talks. teachers from allen rock union elementary school district will rally tonight. it's happening ahead of the school board meeting. teachers are frustrated over class sizes and low salaries. emergency workers staged a

high. voters in campbell union district are not getting the information they need about a ballot measure they are expected to vote on in a few weeks. an argument against measure aa was left out of the sample ballot. it calls for $275 million to modernize schools. officials say it was a clerical error that's being fixed. getting a second opinion on the san francisco's leaning millenni millennium tower that is leaning. a developer declared the building would be safe in an earthquake and that differed from the previous conclusion which found even a mod erate quake would be damaging. the city has to pay for an independent evaluation. >> i don't want the city to rely

let's check in with rob and mike this morning. we're watching the weather complicate the overturned big rig this morning. wave action on the coast is something we will watch for the next 24 hours. wave heights right now four to six feet, but we have a coastal flood advisory for tomorrow. a combination of gusty winds and those building swells offshore leading to rough conditions off coast as the waves stay high through the weekend. right now a mix of clouds around the bay area. 40s and 50s outside. should see upper 60ss today in san francisco and around 75 in san jose. the radar right now picking up

returns off to the north and that rain line progresses south later tonight. tomorrow morning's compute by 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 through 9:00 and by noon you see the rain progressing south of san jose before the next round sets up late saturday afternoon. besides the wind most of saturday will be okay. look at the wind speeds heading into tomorrow morning. 20 to 30 miles an hour off the coast. saturday night those wind speeds pick back up. could see gusts around 45 miles an hour. the rain from friday into saturday, you can see the areas in purple and red. santa cruz mountains, north bay and east bay hill tops could be approaching two to three inches of rain and higher totals likely up the coast. the forecast turns stormy tomorrow and see a break

saturday before more fills in on sunday and then the showers do begin to come down on monday. as we talked about the chopper has arrived on scene. the flashing lights, two larger trucks have arrived, a distraction for the northbound side, but the southbound side you have two lanes block. the hov and two lanes are open in the southbound direction. an overturned ups trailer and an suv. you do see the northbound side still lightly populated right here as more emergency crews arrive on scene. we'll continue to track this. we'll get you to the map and show you and give a reference for the south bay. this is by the san jose international airport, the northbound has a pretty typical pattern. we'll track this southbound

identified opened fire on the officers late last night as they arrived to a home in east boston. other officers at the scene ran inside the house and killed the suspect. happening today, the known gang member accused of killing two palm springs police officers will make his first court appearance. he will be arraigned on first degree murder and several other charges. he planned the attack and ambushed the officers as they responded to a call at his family's home on saturday. he could be sentence in had to death. the man accused of setting off bombs in new york and new jersey will be arraigned in court today from his hospital bed. he is still recovering after he was shot by officers during his arrest last month w. he allegedly planted the bombs in the chelsea neighborhood. a developing story, bermuda
