weather, lots of rain, clear last week, back to the rain pattern. >> transitioning back to a rainy pattern. this morning you may notice the winds around the bay area gusting up to 35 miles per hour. got cloudy skies. later on we'll see north bay rain on the increase. on the right hand side north bay and san francisco. you see that storm wrapped up in the pacific northwest. thunderstorms in the east and rain will make an approach as we head towards the evening commute. now some issues with the wind around san jose. >> wind advisories. chp says watch it across the san mateo bridge. we'll as reports come in. in san jose, i don't know if this is caused by the wind or perhaps another impact, maybe a car brushed it by, but reports of a tree that eventually came down across your right two lanes. 280 wolf road. an issue for folks in the area

traffic so light, it's all right as far as speeds go. caltrans crews are on the scene. >> thank you very much. we continue to follow developing news out of southern california and a tragic scene just outside the palm springs. a bus carrying people home from a casino early sunday morning slammed into a tractor trailer. the impact so strong, the bus was wedged 15 feet in the air. >> it happened on interstate 10 between palm springs and los angeles. more than a dozen people died and 31 others are hurt, including five critically, making it one of the deadliest bus crashes in california history. >> in almost 35 years, i've never been to a crash where there's been 13 confirmed fatal victims. it's tough for all of us. >> speed might have been a factor. investigators are talking with the driver of that tractor trailer who survived with only

minor injuries. we are learning more about the company that operated that bus. it was operated by l.a.-based usa holiday. one of the owners was driving and among those killed. authorities say the bus was last inspected april this year and did not have any mechanical problems at the time. much more to come on that story. we shift gears to politics. a new national poll shows hillary clinton is ahead by donald trump by double digits. both of them, trump and clinton are campaigning in battleground states. >> clinton at a north carolina early voter event stayed on message, trump isn't fit to be president, she said. trump continued his push that the system is rigged. >> they want me to take that back. let me tell you, folks, it's a rigged system. and we are going to drain the swamp of corruption in washington, d.c.

many were here in california. a former guardsman who earned a purple heart has to repay $46,000 in bonuses and student loan money. >> it's awful. you look at that and think it's a joke. you're angry and frustrated. you're not sure what's going on. >> some former guardsmen had their wages garnished to pay back the money. national guard says because taxpayer money once covered the bonuses, they have to recollect it. the class action lawsuit has been filed. 4:35. another creepy clown incident. a security guard may have scared away three armed men about to rob a mall two, holding clown masks. it happened yesterday on market street. a guard on his round approached the men near the mall's entrance. one showed a gun to the guard but didn't raise the gun.

all three ran from the season. the masks were the creepy clown variety. burlingame police are investigating the first homicide of the year. that shooting happened early sunday morning not far from sfo at the hyatt reachensry parking lot. they believe the victim, a man in his late 20s, wasn't a guest at the hotel but visiting someone staying there. the shooting happened during a convention at the hotel. investigators don't believe there is any connection to that. still, it's left many residents shaken. >> be there is something going on in the walkway out there and next thing you know we heard there was a shooting. >> police believe the shooting was not random. they think that the victim was specifically targeted. seven people injured after a shooting in west oakland over the weekend. this morning the hunt continues for the gunman. this shooting happened before midnight on saturday on bancroft avenue. all seven people shot went to

right now, kind of a mild start. look at the numbers. 60 outside. that is a mild start to the morning in emeryville. some wind speeds up to 35 miles per hour. you'll notice those gusty winds at time. most of the action is up here on the north coast. this is the line that's going to progress southward probably through the afternoon and evening. morning commute, you'll begin to see the rain fly in. we have to wait till about 6:00 and 7:00 before the showers stop to drop south. punch by the time it reaches the south bay into tomorrow morning's commute. probably going to have to deal with rain at times. higher totals in the north bay then we get something here the santa cruz mountains. another rain shower for santa

wall street could start the week out on a high note as investors cheer the at&t/time warner deal. markets are coming off a positive week despite a mostly down day friday. housing, consumer confidence and first report third quarter gdp. it is the hef quest week of earnings season with apple, boeing, gm ford and amazon set to report. friday the dow fell 16 points to 18,145. nasdaq rose 15 to 5267. at&t's $85 billion deal for time warner having a big impact on consumers. the merger, if approved, could take at least a year to complete and could lead to more entertainment offerings from hbo, tnt and other channels on your mobile devices. a big concern is less competition could mean higher prices. some experts say in this case it could improve prices as at&t will be a supplier of content

man shot at police. it happened early sunday morning in madiera. bullets hit the windshield but no one inside the squad car was struck. officers later found that suv abandoned. the people inside the car are still on the loose. new details to share this morning in the search for a hit-and-run driver in sonoma. police released an image of the suspect's car. they are urging anyone with information to come forward. the driver seriously injured an elderly man in the crosswalk saturday afternoon. the car is a silver pontiac grand prix. investigators say there appears to be damage to the hood and windshield. a berkeley synagogue is welcoming people of another faith whose church was badly damaged in a fire last month. about 250 members of the first
