partly cloudy skies in the eastbound. 40 into into the north bay. a quick check of temperatures shows low 50s in san francisco. south of san francisco today climbing close to 80. >> mid 70s and a friday, a good combination. over here light traffic. that's great. we have a crash and slowing. separate incidents. the crash west 980 through 580. no construction workers hurt. the driver not hurt either, just the car that has to be cleared. another construction zone northbound from marina boulevard, 880 slows towards just shy of the coliseum. we have a couple lanes just like yesterday. back to you guys. >> it's what a family fears most. we know the identity of a body found in a shallow grave. >> deputies say it's 18-year-old kirk kimberly. now the hunt for his killer begins. his body was found by a

landscaper near a parking lot wednesday afternoon. the sonoma county sheriff spent the day looking for clues as they unearthed that body. it was covered in mud. students walked around campus last night very uneasy. >> you're on a college campus and you want to know you're safe. if it is an older, like, 18-year-old, you would feel you are a little unsafe in the fact that they could be coming after you. >> it's like an 18-year-old male. i think that would be a little more scary because that's like all of us here. >> the victim was last seen october 17 leaving cotati to meet a friend. a search for a shooter in the south bay. one person dead, another hurt, after a shooting in east san jose last night. police got a call of gunfire in the yar of bandy lane and peter pan avenue shortly before 7:00. when officers arrived, they found two men shot, one victim dead at the scene. no suspects have been

identified. this is san jose's 41st homicide of the year compared to 30 in all of last year. last night people in hillsborough gathered together to voice their concerns. "today in the bay's" chuck coppola has more on a car that authorities are now searching for. >> reporter: a home surveillance camera captured a black bmw speeding away from a burglary in hillsborough, the third burglary or armed home invasion in the area within the last two weeks. it brought police to answer questions from homeowners. they formed the hillsborough neighborhood network, first to help each other in an earthquake, but also to spread alerts on the internet about the spike in burglaries. >> this is how we all talk now is through the internet. to get an e-mail that says, hey, there was a robbery or burglary and this is what happened, it's just a sense of news, information and empowerment. >> reporter: so far police have not found a link in the crimes. >> we don't find a uniform pattern that shows one particular corridor or entryway

into our city where these crimes are happened. fairly spread out throughout the community. >> reporter: detectives investigating say one similarity stands out. >> usually they're not local. they're traveling because they don't want to be someone -- they don't want to be recognized and they want to go in -- come here, commit the crime and go back home. >> reporter: chuck coppola, nbc bay area news. today the contra costa county d.a. will release the results of a report rocking the east bay. it's related to the alleged sexual abuse by police officers in contra costa county with a self-proclaimed prostitute. jasmine, who used to go by the name seceleste, claims she had dozens of sexual liaisons with police officers. new details on a disturbing investigation in the east bay. a bay area nanny is accused of

abusing the infant she was watching. police say a home surveillance camera caught ingrid perez beating a 6-month-old baby. the police report we've seen says she's seen on tape, slapping, dragging, throwing and forcing the baby into a crib. perez was arrested while she was going to another child care job. in the east bay, plenty of questions in oakland after a bizarre and gruesome discovery. a woman's burned body found around noon yesterday near a park off bancroft and 77th avenue. so far police have not released any other information. firefighters will conduct a controlled burn today at a popular south bay park at 9:00 p.m., joseph grant park that is supposed to cover 200 acres. smoke can be visible from san jose. firefighters expect to put it out by 5:00. good news regarding our drought. all that rain we've been getting

that means it's time for weather and traffic together. friday morning, a nice start to our day. >> we're seeing a little bit of patchy low clouds in parts of the north bay. temperatures this afternoon could get close to 80 in a few spots. right now san francisco, 56 degrees. should see 70s a little later on. we'll take you around the bay into san jose where it's 53. not as cold as the last couple mornings thanks to the cloud cover. around livermore currently 56 degrees, patchy clouds and watch out for big waves on the coast. wave heights overnight peaking at 20 feet offshore. still high surf on the coast. temperatures nice and warm today even in santa cruz. use caution if you head to the beaches. you'll notice the high clouds this morning should make for an amazing sunrise coming up around 7:40 this morning.

check out this powerful storm just off to our west. most of this energy is going to ride off to the north, but we will see a chance of seeing a few showers late tomorrow in the north bay. highs today mid to upper 70s around downtown san jose, close to 80 in gilroy. tri-valley temperatures near danville also near 80 degrees. you can see concord near 75. around the peninsula highs in the low to mid 70s. 70 in daly city and low 70s in san francisco with high clouds and sunshine. the changes we'll see during the day tomorrow in the north bay during the afternoon, a chance of some rain. notice how that weather system kind of falls apart right as it reaches the bay area. what we'll get for the morning will be increasing clouds. as we head into saturday evening, you'll see how the showers try to get into the bay area, and the system basically falls apart. rain projections here, most coming down to saturday night and sunday. this should be out of here by mid morning sunday. the forecast will have a lot of clouds, a bit of cooling as we

reporter stephen stock with what his team found. good morning, guys. this is what unapproved parts look like and this -- we actually bought these over the internet, on ebay. they're airplane parts that anyone can then put into an airplane. we found that it happens more often than you might imagine. our investigation discovered that these bogus unapproved parts can be found threw out america's aviation industry and have been taken out of commercial airplanes that you and i fly on. after we requested public records from the faa they shared with us documentation of at least 135 cases in the last five years where these unapproved parts were found in airplanes, including big commercial jumbo jets. we also found 22 different airplane crashes that killed seven people and injured 18 others where ntsb investigators later pointed to unapproved parts as contributing to those accidents. you can watch our full report on our website and see how we
