with an affair with the republican nominee. then did not publish it. the wall street journal saying the claim of the affair is totally untrue. so back to the campaign trail. you have hillary clinton trying to bring in the star power. for the clinton campaign, they hope to go forward and motivating voter was a strong ground game operation. in cleveland, a county of 1.3 million where there is one early voting site. to get tickets to the jay-z concert, you had to go to the board of elections. the only place to vote early. now clinton will be in cleveland tomorrow with lebron james. >> thank you, peter. let's bring in nbc news editor mark murray. he will look

we'll go into our battleground and see that hillary clinton has a 274-180 lead over donald trump. donald trump has to be able to get to 270. so how does he be able to do that? first he's got to win all the unsigned, all the toss-up states. you give him flea -- you give him florida, north carolina, ohio, put utah and arizona in his column, throw in new hampshire, what happens, that only puts him at 263 electoral votes. so he needs to win something else. and one way, place he can do that is in the midwest. he could try to flip a michigan, say. that puts him above 270 electoral votes. or if he could -- you could give him pennsylvania, that puts him at 283. so he has to be able to tap into hillary clinton's midwest, blue firewall that's going on. for hillary clinton, her goal is to be able just to be able to -- if she can win a florida, say

she wins a north carolina, she's well above 300 electoral votes. that would be a decisive win for her. but say she isn't able to win florida, say she isn't able to win north carolina, she is able to hold on to pennsylvania, what becomes so key is either winning one of new hampshire or one of nevada. the nevada early vote looks very good for hillary clinton so far. that really is the game. and it does show you how many more paths to 270 electoral votes hillary clinton has that donald trump -- donald trump has to do something to shake up the race. that's why he's traveling everywhere across the country to be able to do that. >> thanks, miami hurricaark mur. to joy reed and sarah isgar flores, former spokeswoman for carly fiorina. good morning. >> good morning. >> three days to go. can you believe it? >> we were commiserating about how happy we will be on the 9th.

he's still trying to run on rage and run on paranoia. >> donald also got a new messenger -- melania trump was on the trail this week. this is the first time we've seen her give a speech since the convention. the goal, to aconnect with the suburban women voters. did she achieve that goal? >> most of in is baked. we've seen the early numbers coming out about the way we expected. the problem they have is we're seeing what the polls would have shown this is college-educate d women have had a 31-point swing since 2012. they supported mitt romney in 2012. this time they are swinging heavily to hillary clinton. if he can't stem that tide between that and the hispanic vote, women and hispanics are why he's going to lose the race. the early numbers are otherwise in his favor, frankly, far more than we would have expected based on her vaunted grahound game. it is not turning out how she thought. without women and hispanics, since the swing in 2012, i don't see that path working if states

like nevada and florida become must wins. >> i want to see on melania, joy, one of melania's main messages that she would want to address if trump is elected is cyber-bullying. many say her husband could be coined the commander in chief of the twitter beatdowns. >> yes. ending -- >> i would say so. >> absolutely. ending cyberbully starts at home. and i think sarah makes a good point. this is a guy what called out a woman reporter and had the crowd turn on her. it's ironic they would put her out that way. i don't understand why they did it and why were they in philadelphia when they're going to lose? i don't get it. >> hillary clinton's been going to michigan, a state she should have had in the bank, if that

eastern on tuesday. now to a horrifying case in south carolina where police discovered a body in the same area where authorities say a missing woman was held captive for months. nbc's gabe gutierrez has more from south carolina. >> reporter: good morning. this is the fence the in property where deputies say it happened. the sheriff investigating when this could be the work of a serial killer. the suspect so far is accused of kidnapping, but prosecutors say more charges are likely. this morning, the search resumes for more potential victims on a sprawling compound in south carolina after another chilling discovery. >> we did find a body in a shallow grave on this piece of property. >> reporter: it came after sheriff's deputies first found kayla brown alive. she'd been missing since august along with her boyfriend, charlie carver. authorities say brown was

chained by her neck and ankle in a padlocked metal storage container. a representative for her family said they were asking for privacy. >> this is orific and unimage -- horrific and unimaginable. >> reporter: the owner of the property has been charged with kidnapping. he's a realtor and registered sex offender. prosecutors expect more charges after brown told investigators this -- >> she witnessed the defendant shoot st. charles david carver. >> reporter: brown believes there are at least four bodies buried on the property. so far, the one found friday has not been identified. >> it's too unreal for your brain to comprehend. >> reporter: mckenzie durham has known carver since they were teenagers. >> something out of a horror film. not something you expect to hear about in real life. >> reporter: a neighbor says he kept to himself and installed this fence and would spend several hours dale oh the property, leaving after dark.

>> unusual to have a fenced in 95 acres in a property like this. >> reporter: investigators say they ended up halloweoning in o property by tracking kayla brown's cell phone. the search continues, and investigators are looking into when the suspect could be tied to other missing persons cases in the area. chanel? >> thank you. also in south carolina, tensions ran high inside a courtroom where a former charleston police officer is on trial. accused of murder in the shooting death of a black man that was all captured on camera. the victim was shot while he was running away. the jury hearing on friday from the eyewitness who took that video. here's nbc with more. >> reporter: raw emotion in a south carolina courtroom as the mother of walter scott recalled her final phone call with her son. >> i heard him like he was in

excruciating pain. a couple of times. >> reporter: scott was shot and killed by then-north charleston police officer michael slager in april of 2015 after scott ran during a traffic stop. a jury of 11 white men and women and one black man is tasked with deciding if slager is guilty of murder or if he acted in self-defense. >> when walter scott ran and resisted, he should have been prosecuted for it. he shouldn't have been killed for it. >> he didn't just run. he physically and forcefully resist resisted to the extent that they were both fighting on the ground. >> reporter: the jury saw cell phone video showing slager drawing his gun as scott runs away from him. slager then fires eight shots, five of them hitting scott. moments later, slager picks up an object, it's not known if it

was his taser, and appears to drop it next to scott's body. the video was filmed by fayton santana. >> didn't want to be involved. at the same time, my morals and values didn't allow me to do that. because it was an injustice, what i saw. >> reporter: scott's death was one in a sears of violent confrontations between law enforcement and african-american citizens, fueling protests against perceived police bias across the country. scott's family continues to ask for peace. >> we're going to sit back and pray that justice will do their job. at the end hopefully we will get justice. >> reporter: slager faces 30 years in life if convicted. nbc news. now to a dramatic ruling in the case against "rolling stone" magazine. a judge fining "rolling stone," its publisher, and a reporter liable for defamation relating to a 2014 article alleging a gang rain on the university of

virginia campus. anne thompson has more. >> reporter: nicole arama left court vindicated. a federal jury fining "rolling stone," its publisher and reporter acted with malice, defaming aramo in its discredited story of rain on campus, but the supposed gang rain of a woman identified only -- rape of a woman identified only as jackie. aramo claimed it portrayed her as a villain, more interested in protecting the university's reputation than helping jackie. >> it feels good to have a jury of nicole's peers come back and vindicate what we have known from day one. >> not one more. >> reporter: the 2014 article sparked a national discussion on college sexual assault. reporter sabrina ruben-erdley promoted the story "morning joe." >> she eventually took the report to the administration, and the administration did

nothing. >> reporter: "rolling stone" retracted the story in april, 2015, after news organizations and police found no evidence to back up the accusations. despite the article's many flaws, the conversation continues today with a national campaign to stop sexual assault on campus. >> it's on us, all of us. >> to stop sexual assault. >> reporter:" rolling stone" wrote "we deeply regret the missteps and sincerely apologize to anyone hurt by them, including ms. aramo." aramo seeks $7.5 million in financial damages that are still to be determined. for "today," anne thompson, nbc news, new york. a major blow to new jersey governor chris christie. one of donald trump's most important surrogates. two former top aides to the governor were convicted of conspiracy and fraud friday in the so-called bridgegate scandal. the charges stem from a scheme to cause massive traffic jams, allegedly for political retribution. christie, who has repeatedly

denied any knowledge of the scheme, was supposed to campaign for trump today. those plans were canceled after the verdict. two workers are recovering from a nightmarish accident inside a water tower. they were working inside the tower in pontiac, michigan, friday, when they became trapped rescuers don't know if they fell or the scaffolding collapsed. it took nearly an hour to free the trapped men. a fire official is quoted as saying the pair were in bad shape, but there's no official word on their medical condition. a heartwarming survival story for a pair of panda cubs. once it, a boy and girl, born in shanghai a month ago, were reunited for the first time friday. zoo officials separated them because the panda mother would naturally choose the stronger cub over the weaker. the mom fed the boy. in a successful experiment, zookeepers fed the girl. after five days, they switched the babies. now yu-yu takes care of both while brother and sister get to know each mother their panda bear crib.

in terms of our temperatures, we should be staying in those lower 60s, maybe hitting the 70s out near san jose, so today we could be just slightly cooler overall. it's going to be a nice, calm day, nothing too wild out there in terms of our weather. so, if you have any plans to beout zoorz, it's going to be pretty good for that. >> sounds good. thank you so much. we begin this morning with a developing story in the east bay. at least eight people were shot in downtown oakland. less than a block away from city hall. officers say they responded to reports of multiple shots fired in that area. several people were suffering from gunshot wounds. there are reports that a fight broke out inside a nearby nightclub. eight people were shot but there are no reports of any deaths. we will keep you updated on any new information that comes into our newsroom. the alameda county district attorney will decide next week what charges will be filed

against two people arrested in connection with the stabbing and burning death of an east bay women. last night, family and friends held a vigil at the victim's home. 21-year-old carla was a volunteer for the sheriff's office. her body was found burned and stabbed in an east oakland park on thursday. she was last seen dropping off her friend after dinner and a movie. >> blunt force trauma, multiple stab wounds, and it was apparent that she was suffering like many of you have reported already, from some burn marks towards the upper -- toward the upper portion of her body. >> police say the woman was taken into custody and is believed to be a friend of the victim. the second suspect is a man. his relationship is unknown. well, good news for crab lovers. crab season has officially started. the recreational season began at midnight and commercial fishermen will be watching closely. the news is welcome following last year's problems.

connection with the stabbing and burning death of an east bay woman. last night, family and friends held a vigil at the victim's home. 21-year-old karla ramirez segoviano was a volunteer for the sheriff's office. her body was found burned and stabbed on thursday. she was last seen dropping off her friend after dinner and a movie. >> blunt force trauma, multiple stab wounds, and it was apparent that she was suffering, like many of you have reported already, from some burn marks towards the upper -- toward the upper portion of her body. >> police say the woman was taken into custody is believed to be a friend of the victim. the second suspect is a man. his relationship is unknown. good news for crab lovers. crab season has officially started. the recreational crab season began at midnight, and commercial fishermen will be watching closely. the news is welcome following last year's problems. in 2015, the dungeness crab season was hit hard by elevated

on sunday, back to cleveland, with lebron james. of course, cleveland star, especially among the african-american community there. she's trying to recreate the kind of excitement that president obama had in 2012, in the final weeks of the campaign, when tens of thousands of people were showing up to his rallies. her events have been smaller. and polls show that voters are not quite as enthusiastic in voting for her. so that's the main challenge in these final days. her best chance, probably that final rally planned for philadelphia whereby she, her husband, the former president, bill clinton, will appear with both obamas. the president and the first lady. >> the president, the first lady, queen bee, king james. she is definitely bringing out the star power. thanks, kasie. >> quite the lineup. the election is mobilizing one small group of voters like never before. our militias throughout the country are preparing for possible civil unrest following the election.

news, jackson, georgia. a search is on today for more victims who may be buried on a south carolina property. kala brown was found there this week after being held for months, chained in a storage container. on friday, a body was found in a shallow grave on the grounds owned by todd kohlhepp. police think there could be as many as four bodies buried on the property. kohlhepp has been charged with kidnapping. a possible new legal precedent as a former playboy playmate has been criminally charged for body shaming. 2015 playmate of the year, danny mathers, has been charged with misdemeanor invasion of privacy for taking a picture, this is the picture, of a 70-year-old woman undressed at the gym, and then posting it on snapchat. mathers' lawyer says the former playmate never tried to violate any laws. a section of philadelphia is cleaning up and repairing this morning after a destructive water main break. water gushed out of a 48-inch main friday, flooding a section of the city, swamping cars and

how are you? >> i am good! i'm bummed i'm not there watching the balloons fill up. it's one of my favorite things. but talk to us about -- >> i know, you were with us last year, too. >> i know! and it's a little bit warmer this morning than it was last year. but tell us about some of the new big maroons that we can see in the parade this year. >> well, it's our 90th anniversary, and we've got three giant balloons making their debut this year. we've got charlie brown coming back for the second time. the first time we had him was back in 2002. we've got diary of a wimpy kid, greg heply is with us. this is also his second balloon, but he's in full color this time. the previous time, he was in black and white. and if we're talking about color, we've got the trolls. it's actually four balloons in one. we've never done that before. >> i feel like every year, you guys do something you've never done before. and since this is your 90th anniversary, what other special things do you have planned for the parade? >> well, on the balloon side, we're bringing back a balloon that first flew in 1927. felix the cat was the very first

morning with our series "expecting today." dylan is six weeks away from meeting her new baby boy. we have all been there before. there is so much to get ready for. >> we are so excited. my husband and i cannot wait. so many other first time moms and dads are left feeling overwhelmed. not knowing anything about what is to come. we called in an expert to help me and other moms to get me on the right track. >> hi. i'm so happy you're here. >> i'm glad to be here. >> nice to meet you. come on in. >> so first things first. before the baby ever uses the nursery, when do i know it's time to even go to the hospital? >> anytime you are feeling a weird symptom or something different, i recommend calling the doctor. the four things to keep in mind. contractions. your water breaks. number three, any bleeding or

number four, if you don't feel the baby moving as you normally do. that is the time to call the doctor. >> i know i'm well taken care of in the hospital, but i'm nervous for the first moments at home. do you have a list of tips that every parent should know? >> the first thing is trust your instincts. everybody who say parent was a new parent at one time. you trust your gut. you will be fine. so you need to partner with a pediatrician that you know you can trust. do your homework. speak to your friends with children. you can interview the pediatrician. there is so much information out there. you want to make sure the information you are following has been well researched. i recommend starting with the pediatrician and see if the web site has useful links. ask what they recommend. >> i have a lot of flyers and pamphlets for the classes i should take leading up to giving birth. which ones are important and

which ones can i do without? >> so you will soon learn that parenting is not one size fits all. some families feel comforted by taking a lot of classes. the one class which is important is a cpr class. any care giver should be trained in baby cpr. if you have an emergency at home, that is when you need to know what to do before he help arrives. my sage advice is to just relax and have fun and enjoy the journey. parenting is the most incredible experience. having been doing it for 14 years and the more you live in the moment and try not to worry and trust, the more wonderful the experience will be for you. >> so good to hear you say that. >> and those questions don't come close to all of the questions i had for dr. levine. they range from where should the

good morning, and happy saturday. let's take a live look outside. san jose, the sun is coming up, could be a little bit cooler than we've seen. good morning and thanks for joining us. i'm michelle roberts, joined with vianey arana with a look at your forecast. you said it could be a little rain, little clouds but mostly okay. >> yeah. looks like the more i look at the model, the less rain chances that we see in the forecast. at least for the north bay. south bay, we're not really expecting much.

today's main event is really going to be just those nice cooler temperatures. overall, we should be in for a fairly nice saturday, 51 degrees right now in the south bay. peninsula also in the 50s and out near san francisco, could be seeing some partly cloudy skies, maybe even some patchy fog. into the later part of the day, as we begin to track that storm system, it looks like it's sitting more off to the north but our overall highs for the south bay will be in the lower 70s. we have been seeing those 70s across the board and it looks like the east bay could be slightly cooler into those 60s. now, into the late evening hours, that's when we're going to start seeing that increase in cloud cover, especially under the peninsula. look at those lower 60s, half moon bay 64, and napa is really where we were tracking the possibility of some rain but it looks like the marin, maybe even mission could be seeing pop-up showers way late into the evening. as far as the north bay, the models aren't showing a great amount of rainfall but it could still bring
