touchdowns for the first time in your career. and your first 100-yard game of the season. what was working well for the running game tonight? >> it started with these guys. the line, created a new line of scrimmage for me. got me to the second area. we were able to run the ball all day. that's what we were able to do. we came in here and were able to do that. >> you were able to shake the tackles and get extra yardage. why was it working for you, specifically? >> i got into a rhythm today. we needed this one. they left it up to us, to run the rock. we needed that to go out and win. so, the guys got me to the second level. i had to make some defenders miss. >> you came in tied atop the division. you beat the defending super bowl champs. what does this win tell you about where this team is? >> we're going forward. this is a new team. a new mindset. we want to get keep getting better every day. and tonight, we got a good win. we have to keep working. we're only halfway there. >> congratulations. >> thank you.

it's a feel-good night for the raiders. three wins in carr's rookie year. they're tied with new england and dallas, for most wins in the nfl, as we bring in tony dungy. coach, on "football night in america" we asked, how would oakland handle this biggest game these guys have played. in your opinion, how did they do it tonight? >> they handled it well. they did it with old-school raider football. it was the offensive line, taking care of business. running left, especially. and it just reminded me of the old-time raiders, when they would put upshaw, shell, and just kept pounding it. they controlled the game that way. on the other side of the ball, you heard khalil mack say we had to make them one-dimensional. denver would not run the football at all tonight. that's how oakland took care of the game and dominated with the front lines offensively and defensively. it was very, very impressive tonight.

our election coverage tuesday begins at 3:00 in the afternoon. we'll have crews live at headquarters for both candidates. back to the story of the night locally. back to the raiders. we haven't said this in years. not only are they once again nationally relevant but they're in first place. tonight was a platform for the raider nation. this is a franchise and fan base in limbo. we have multiple reports this evening. let's begin with christie smith at the coliseum. this was a nervous time for the fans. what are they telling you? >> reporter: supporters of keeping the oakland raiders in oakland were out for hours before the game even started in the parking lot, handing out about 10,000 of these signs, double sided. they wanted to make it very clear to a large audience how they feel about where the raiders should play. just before kickoff all the signs were gone. thousands handed out in the

parking lot as part of an all out blitz by fans hoping to keep the raiders in their current city. >> we've gone through 14 years of losing and now we're winning. we do not need this distraction but we're here to give the message this is our home and we're not going anywhere. >> reporter: fan groups offered a message about keeping the now winning raiders in oakland and not las vegas where there's the promise of $750 million in public money for a new stadium. >> this was built in 1966, one of the oldest football stadiums arounds. we don't have the ability to give $750 million in public funds like nevada does. >> doesn't mean we're not going to be fans. >> they can continue to play here at least for a couple of years. >> reporter: the issue was addressed during the broadcast with owner marc davis in the house. before the game a banner was flown with the same message and draped over the wall. las vegas, if you build it, we won't come. fans have been through an l.a. move and some said they would continue to support and even

watch them in vegas. >> i feel honestly my heart, the true raider fans will follow them anywhere. unfortunately it's going to be a flight away. >> reporter: many long time raiders fans say talk of a move was made even more difficult now because the team is playing so well. in oakland, christie smith. a lot of talk about las vegas, but here's the hidden nugget. marc davis does not want to give up any equity or ownership in his team and that might be the case if he does head to vegas. where does this leave us? terr terry one of those options is linked to tuesday's election. >> it gets convoluted. tuesday's election in san diego might determine where the raiders play. the raiders will almost certainly be in oakland for the next go yeartwo years. after that looks like oakland,

vegas or l.a. there's a private group of investors including lott. lott wants a piece of the team. the owner marc davis says no way. it doesn't have a concrete plan. now if they do come up with one, nfl rules say if a viable stadium option is submitted by a local market, the league will not accept an application for relocation. how about the los angeles rams one more time? well the voters in san diego have anything to say about it, it could have an influence on this whole thing. if they say yes to a stadium on tuesday for the chargers, that team won't be moving to l.a., so the raiders could join the rams at a new stadium in inglewood. l las vegas already has a plan in place for a $2 billion domed stadium called raiders stadium. state lawmakers have approved a

$750 million tax on hotel rooms to finance it. the raiders say they are committed to las vegas. what could go wrong? part of the cost of the stadium would be funded by billionaire casino mogul sheldon addleson. he now says he wanted a better deal or he's going to take his $650 million and walk away. don't count out levi stadium. it's built for two home teams and is closer to oakland than san francisco. coming up in a few minutes we hear from the players aft after tonight's big win. a midday street race turned deadly when a man lost control of his car and slammed it into a tree. tonight the which i happen chp that other racer. neighbors have to be concerned about this. it's just crazy to have those

street races. we can hear some behind you. >> reporter: in fact, you just heard someone speeding right beside me here. neighbors are concerned. the car hit the tree so hard, it sent debris flying over the sound wall. and neighbors say that their kids playing in the back yard could easily have been hit by that debris. metal so mangled you can barely tell this is a ka macamaro. the driver who was killed was in his 20s. he was racing traveling up to 100 miles per hour when he lost control, slammed into this tree and was killed. it happened around 12:30 this afternoon. the impact sent a bumper and metal chunks of the car flying over the sound wall into backyards. >> there was an oil pump that came over, landed on the hot tub

in the back. >> reporter: his two young nephews could easily have been playing in the back yard at that time. >> somebody absolutely would have been hurt. there were that many pieces coming over the wall. >> reporter: the impact of the crash sent part of the fence to the ground. neighbors say they often see or hear street racing on the expressway. >> but at night it's constant. >> reporter: he says today's deadly crash is a painful reminder more needs to be done to keep this expressway safe for drivers and neighbors. chp officers tell me it is unusual to see street raising here on the expressway in the middle of the day. they are still trying to track down the driver of that acura who was involved in the race and then took off. and so far they have not released the name of the victim. another issue this time in the east bay, a freeway shooting and a wild police chase last

night in walnut creek. tonight that suspect remains in jail. that chase ended at the walnut creek bart station. it all started when one driver allegedly tried to run another car off the road on 680. chp officers responded to reports of shots fired on the freeway right there on 680. the driver refused to pull over and led police to walnut creek where he tried to flee on foot. he was arrested for possession of narcotics. tonight we help a richmond homeowner who has a list of complaints against a contractor who painted her home. chris, lots of people paint their homes. >> yeah and you spend lots of money doing so. this woman's first complaint is the color her home was painted. she ended up with a stark white building with bright pink trim.

returning now to our decision 2016 coverage. jobs will be an issue san jose voters tackle on election day with measure e. supporters say it will give more hours to part-time workers. business owners argue it will damage the local economy. >> reporter: some families say this measure is strictly a survival issue, especially for many of the families who share this east san jose home. they say it is vital that this measure pass. >> it's really hard. it's really hard. >> a mom of three says over the past ten years she's only been offered part-time hours as a fast food worker and it's been hard making ends meet. >> there's no way you can feed your kids with only less than $100 per biweekly.

>> reporter: it would force employers to offer more hours to employees working less than 40 hours a week before the employer could hire nmore part-timers. >> they tell you they don't have hours for you but they are actually hiring more people. >> measure e actually doesn't create any new jobs. it doesn't create any new working hours. >> reporter: he feels the measure could cause unemployment to rise rapidly among san jose part-timers at various companies. >> it's going to shift all of the hours over to 28,500 employees. and the rest of those, which is rough roughly 40,000 part-time employees are all going to lose their jobs. >> but for part-time workers barely surviving they believe a yes on measure e is worth it to help some families move forward out of poverty. >> we would like them to live at least one time like we do with less money to see if they can
