now. a very good monday morning to you. foggy start to our day. i'm laura garcia-cannon. >> i'm sam brock. breaking news. there's been a deadly car accident causing issues overnight at highway 101. what do you know? >> this is the video on 101. bayshore freeway north of sfo. you see the windshield there on the taxi. that's the point of impact where that taxi and another car hit a pedestrian walking along highway 101 early this morning. crews on scene have all lanes blocked for a period of time. just minutes ago it cleared from the roadway. this is sfo exit. before you get to 380, you'll see lights on the shoulder. all lanes cleared from that deadly crash. we do have fog in the area, but not right there. that did not play a part in this crash. you see here in the south bay to

points east of there in the tri-valley and farther out. as far as traffic flow, we want to slow down. >> south bay and north bay, the most widespread fog. we are also seeing areas right into san francisco. you see live pictures there in san francisco this morning. reduced visibilities. i can show you above ground level as i show you how things look on our live camera. you can see a tough drive right now. afternoon we'll see hazy sunshine. temperatures in the mid 50s. san francisco low 70s around san jose. a lot of rain making a return to the seven-day forecast. >> nice to hear that. the search on for a man who shot at two san jose police officers, neither officer was are injured. >> kris sanchez live at the san jose police department to explain what led up to this shooting. good morning, kris. >> good morning. it sounds like this all started with a routine patrol. the two officers were out of their patrol cars and they were

approaching a group of young men, perhaps teenagers, when they fled. as they were fleeing, of those young men turned around and started firing at those police officers. neither of them was injured. you can see in the video of the scene near ripley drive, it is a neighborhood where at 7:30 in the evening, anyone could have been in the line of fire, not just those officers. that is the reason the officers did not return fire. the police spokesman says the officers are trained to only shoot if they have a safe and open field, which at that point they did not. this happened on the same day a sheriff's deputy was shot dead execution style. >> we are concerned. we are concerned about the climate. we are concerned there's been something lost in the concept of law and order. it's very near and dear to our hearts when an officer is shot

down and murdered. >> police describe him as hispanic man in his 20s, 6 feet tall, 180 pounds, clean shaven wearing a black and gray flannel shirt and white t-shirt underneath and dark pants. anyone with any information of what was happening call san jose police. kris sanchez, today in the bay. as kris mentioned, the shots fired at the san jose police officers came the same day a sheriff's deputy was executed by a man in the central valley. dennis wallace died yesterday morning when someone shot him twice in the head as he checked a suspicious van. it happened near houston, about 10 miles outside modesto. authorities arrested the suspect after an hour's long manhunt. they found him more than 100

miles away in lindsey. >> the suspect tried to steal a purse from a female victim who fought back and called the police. as the police responded to this incident, the suspect fled the scene on foot and was captured. >> the suspect is 37-year-old david maciato was a wanted felon. developing news out of san jose where police are investigating a homicide after a body was found behind an elementary school. a man's body was discovered 1:00 yesterday afternoon in the 3,000 block of peppermint drive near cedar grove elementary. police aren't sure where the crime was committed. they haven't identified any suspects yet. the victim's name hasn't been released. this is their 44th homicide of the year. republicans meet later today

patchy fog set up. the worse of the fog in the north bay, visibilities down to less than 1/4 mile in napa and san martin. near the coast, a few breaks from the clouds. for today, low clouds to start the day. we'll see hazy sunshine for the afternoon and temperatures once the low clouds clear. hazy sunshine. 72 in concord peninsula. upper 60s today downtown san francisco. mostly mid 60s into the north bay upper 60s to low 70s. we will see a chance of showers coming in tomorrow. note the time stamp here for tuesday 11:00 p.m. a chance of showers and big drop in temperatures, 30s and 40s for morning lows starting wednesday and thursday. rainfall totals not all that impressive. keep an eye on next saturday. we'll see a better chance of heavier rain with that storm.

contra costa county man was killed in the midst of a violent robbery involving pot. this is 24-year-old zacharies wereter from new jersey. it happened in lleytonville. deputies say the 35-year-old was growing marijuana and robbed by several people who he hired as marijuana trimmers. deputies believe the attackers fled to southern california or possibly somewhere out of state. 4:50. doctors at stanford university children's hospital performed a record number of life-saving organ transplant surgeries last month. they performed 16 surgeries in october. doctors say they had two different donors provide four organs last month. the hospital is attributing the record number of transplant surgeries to more referrals. time to look forward to the
