a lot of the rain has moved on. we are going to see a couple of spotty showers during the morning, also some patchy fog. so that may impact your travel as well. we see a lot of snow coming down in the sierra. check that out, all the shades of white moving through the sierra. that's the rain changing over to snow as it moves over the sierra. we also see a couple of spotty showers farther to the north that will be moving into the bay area later on this morning. so we'll detail that and get a closer look at the timing as well and look ahead to the weekend. that's coming up. mike already has a crash in the tri-valley. >> i want to give a shout out to the sierra as well, i-80 and 50 both with chain requirements. keep that in mind. right now traffic around our bay looks good. no major issues, but we have a crash that's still on the grid southbound 680 around el costa. reports of activity in the right shoulder as well as the center divide. no slowing on our sensors. maybe slick roadways around the

bay. overnight sprinkles and rain have left damp roadways. so far no slowing heading toward the bay braj. back to you. within the last few minutes nbc news has learned south carolina governor nikki haley has accepted trump's offer for her to be ambassador to the united nations. haley becomes the first woman to get a position in his cabinet. the two-term governor initially backed marco rubio and then ted cruz in the gop battle. we'll take you live to washington for a report coming up in our next half hour. no doubt a lot of people trying to go see their families today. the wet weather creating a headache for those trying to get out of town. >> "today in the bay's" pete suratos live at sfo with a mad dash to try to beat the rain. >> good morning, laura and sam. we're here at terminal one, the

delta departure. the busiest travel day of the year. you can see the line starting to pick up a little bit here at delta. a very busy time for folks flying out of airports around the bay area this weekend. the travel season here at sfo started last weekend and lasts through january of next year. the airport is expecting 6.5 million people to travel through the airport during this time. the busiest day will be sunday after thanksgiving with over 160,000 travellers passing through sfo. here are important tips for travelers. you can expect a busy day. encouraged to arrive two hours prior to your departure if you're flying domestically, three hours if you're flying internationally, packing any liquids or gels, you want to keep it to three ounces or less. get more information on that on tsa.gov. folks have been ready to fly out of town. as of right now, no major delays to report here at least at sfo.

pete suratos for "today in the bay." >> let's hope it remains calm and everyone is nice. 4:33. the fight between the 9ers and the city of santa clara is escalating. late last night, city leaders moved a step closer to taking over the management of levi's stadium. attish yu are the 49ers being transparent with taxpayer money? team executives say they will not provide the city with a copy of financial information on non-nfl events. but they will let them view them. after three hours of testimony last night the city voted to give the 9ers 30 days to comply. some taxpayers say they're happy city leaders stood their ground. >> if we can't find a way with all the non-disclosure agreements to make sure what needs to stay private stays private and if someone violates that procedure and gets fired, then i don't know what we can do. >> team officials worry making

details of concerts and other events, it would compromise negotiations for future events. a man who was beaten, robbed and killed after a visit to a local pool hall, now a suspect is under arrest and facing hate crime charges. two more on the loose. police say they could be armed and dangerous. this is daniel porter kelly. police say he killed william simms, a musician in richmond. he was found beat ton and shot outside the pool hall in el sob bron they. we do know this, the police are also looking for these two men, ray simons and daniel ortega. an online encounter turns violent for a bay area college student. uc berkeley police sent out an alertment police say a male student living in a co-op says he met a man online and invited him to his room early yesterday

morning. the victim says that's when the man sexually assaulted him. others say the assault serves as a danger. >> the general rule of thumb is don't trust strangers, don't invite them to your rooms. that's just from my perspective. >> police aren't saying what website the victim used to meet his attacker. community crime where police are asking for the public's help tracking down two suspects who tracked down a man living with a broken jaw. that assault happened last month at the taco baf vo right across the street from the prune yard. the suspects were standing behind the victim in line. and for some reason kicked and punched that victim to the ground and ran away. will it be a soggy travel day for folks? >> it looks to be pretty soggy and still wet roads and chilly temperatures and fog. we'll take a closer look at these temperatures and what else to expect for the thanksgiving

as we get a live look outside, we're checking out oakland, starting out with wet roads this evening as you head out. we'll talk about what to expect for the next couple of days with more rain moving in coming up in the microclimate forecast. we might have some slick off-ramps. you're at speed for 580 to 28 minutes. a little slowing through the construction zone for vallecitos. we expect that over there. looking at the bay bridge, no problem. no delay across any of these spans. 4:40. palo alto is slowing down on a proposal to speed up. the palo alto weekly reports the city council discussed raising the speed limit in certain areas from 25 miles per hour to 30. the speed increase is needed to install traffic radar like university avenue and middlefield. instead, the city council

decided to focus on traffic speed bumps. >> some are calling it a hail mary, but it's something. the framework announced yesterday for a new stadium as we go out to the live look of the oakland coliseum, the raiders' current home turf. if all goes as planned, it could stay that way for a while. a full team of investors have a plan in the worked on the scene of the coliseum. mayor schaaf hasn't revealed details of the plan yet. the alameda county board of supervisors would need to sign off on any deal. >> we're working with a private partner who has not just the passion to keep the raiders in oakland, but also the capacity to put up front the amount of capital it will take to privately finance a stadium. >> you hear mayor schaaf say privately finance. she's been saying from day one this would be no public funds going into a new stadium. the raiders have not endorsed

alpine meadows were all making the snow. they'll all be ready. caltrans prepping the roads as you see the storm is expected to leave behind several inches of snow. >> chains required for i-80 and highway 50. >> which is good. but is that going to change? are we going to have more snowfall? >> it's snowing there now. it's really coming down. even if you have to drive through to get towards reno or something like that, it is looking very treacherous for at least the next several hours. we'll be dealing with that. a live look outside at the golden gate bridge. you can tell those roads are wet. even though the rain has wrapped up for most, we are dealing with puddles and wet spots. we'll check in with mike in a few minutes. now as we get a look at the temperature now, a little milder than it was yesterday at this time. we're only going to head up to 58 degrees for that high temperature there. once again, we can see the snow really coming down as it changes

from rain to snow at the higher elevations. we have rain farther to the north of us that will be moving to the bay area. still a quick burst of rain you'll encounter as you go out for that drive or just going to work today. visibility down to .25 mile in santa rosa. elsewhere it's mostly clear. we have cooler temperatures in the north bay where it's 43 degrees, 48 in morgan hill and san jose now at 51 degrees. into the afternoon, highs in the upper 50s to lower 60s, overall a day to make sure you have the umbrella, some long sleeves at least for the first part of the day and then this afternoon it will be clearing and we'll get some sunshine. looking at once again that chance of rain by 8:00 this morning, we will see that quickly sweeping through from north to south, still clouds left overthrow at least the lunchtime hour. then tonight, mostly clear skies. looking ahead for the weekend,

there will be rain returning on late friday into early saturday, and saturday is looking pretty soggy at this point. unfortunately there's a lot of people heading out for some shopping, but yes, we do need the rain. look how much we can get between now and sunday. we could have over an inch of rain across the bay area, temperaturewise in san francisco, only in the mid 50s on friday. we'll have upper 50s for the inland area and morning temperatures dropping back into the lower 40s. mike, what's happening as you head out in san jose. >> kari, overall, traffic flow is light. same thing for san jose. we do have something that shouldn't be on the roadway. it's a mattress reported northbound at 87 as you come up toward kertner avenue. light traffic so the only issue you have to watch, the flashing lights. we do have a minor delay reported for the b.a.r.t. system as you travel between hayward and south hayward in either

nasdaq up 53 to 5386. 4 million more americans eligible for over time pay on december 1st. the court says the labor department exceeded its authority. the white house wants to shrink the so-called white collar exemption which allows employers to skip over time pay for salaried workers who make more than $23,600 a year. the thanksgiving day tradition getting a high-tech upgrade. macy's nbc universal and verizon will live stream the parade in 360 degrees. if you have a browser or device that can handle it, you can watch the balloons and floats as if you were street side. there will be self cameras at points along the parade route and the macy's parade is the second oldest parade and has been televised nationally on nbc since 1952, sam and laura.

>> it has become a tradition for so many as people are getting that bird ready to put in the oven. >> snoopy gets a lot more interesting in multidimensional figures. not to put a damper on things, but holiday shopping does mean holiday crime. b.a.r.t. is beefing up security with a new program designed to keep commuters safe at two of the busiest stations in san francisco. here is what's happening specifically. new patrol desks in the open areas at the powell and civic center stations. that's where b.a.r.t. officers will be when they're not on patrol or on a call. those two stations see a 7% increase in ridership in the final three months of the year. a popular minivan being recalled, toyota recalling nearly 800,000 sienna minivans made from 2011 to 2016. the problem is that the sliding doors can open while the car is moving. toyota says it will repair the doors for free, but it's still developing a way to fix it. this is kind of a bummer.

santa clara's only bowling alley closed abruptly. moonlite lanes has been closed for years. the management team says they're trying to relocate and the developers trying to develop the probably into an apartment complex. the city will hold a hearing on the project in january. president obama may hold the highest office in the land, but kareem abdul-jabbar still higher in terms of heights. >> the president had to reach up to the basketball legend to present his medal of freedom yesterday. the nation's highest civilian honor went to 21 americans. you saw oakland native tom hanks, vin scully, bill and melinda gates. comedian ellen degeneres tweeted this photo after she was denied entrance to the white house because she forgot her id.

and new government information obtained . 4:55. wells fargo continues to dominate headlines and new government information obtained exclusively by the investigative unit reveals dozens of employees warned the feds about the problems inside that bank. >> our liz wagner joins us with details about their retaliation complaints. liz? >> for the first time we're getting a better idea of how many people reached out to the government saying they were fired about raising red flags about wells fargo. it's unclear how many cases relate to the phony account scandal, but the feds say most involve complaints of corporate or consumer financial fraud. across the country since 2010,
