new hampshire, and california. the president-elect's transition's team has not clarified what he is talking about but it is clear why he's talking. seemingly irritated by an election recount, set in motion by the green party presidential candidate, jill stein, in wisconsin. and maybe two more battle grounds soon. hillary clinton's campaign now joining in, making clear they didn't start the battle nor do they expect it to change the results. clinton's campaign lawyer tweeting overnight we are getting attacked for participating in a recount we didn't ask for by the man who won election but thinks there was massive fraud. the president-elect trying to use clinton's own words against her. in another tweet, citing this moment from november 9. >> we must accept this result and then look to the future. >> it is a total and complete hypocritical joke that the group of people that thought they were nervous about president-elect trump not conceding are the people that are conducting

recounts in states where we won by over 68,000 votes. >> reporter: one of the president-elect's top aides, in an immiss isn't recount rebuke referencing a 45-minute conversation between donald trump and president obama this weekend. >> there is a respect for the process and the peaceful transition of power which is why this recount by jill stein and now the hillary people is so confounding and disappointing. >> reporter: kellyanne conway one of trump's key adviser making a public push against mitt romney, a former never trump leader, now one of the contenders for secretary of state, along with rudy giuliani. >> i'm all for party unity but i'm not sure we have to pay for that with the secretary of state position. >> reporter: so about those comments, two top aides tell msnbc the president-elect is now apparently furious at that action at the comments with others saying they are baffled about the public discussion over that secretary of state

position, matt and savannah. donald trump will have more meetings here at trump tower today. >> before you go, can we go back to the recount situation. first, at this moment what's the likelihood it happens, and what's the likelihood it makes any difference? >> reporter: so let me take that in two parts. likelihood it happens, recounts are state by state, not nationally. so in wisconsin right now you have a series of local clerks, figuring out how much a recount would cost. then if the green party can cover those, which jill stein says she can, then you will see the recount set into motion. in wisconsin, at least, with the possibility of two other states, maybe pennsylvania and michigan on the way, as far as the likelihood it changes everything, extraordinarily slim, if you just look at the odds. the other part is even if, say, something were to flip in wisconsin, you would still need two others to flip as well, pennsylvania and michigan for hillary clinton to, for example, take the presidency. again, very, very slim chances. >> also a tight, tight timeline

in some of these states, right? >> reporter: wisconsin has a deadlin set by the state of december 13 to get this recount finished which means already you're seeing some of the local municipalities warn they have to work nights and weekends to get this done if it happens. should mention that today is the deadline to trigger a recount in pennsylvania, and wednesday in michigan where that vote margin is the closest at 10,000 votes. >> thank you very much. >> also this morning the official tributes under way in cuba following the death of its controversial former leader fidel castro. nbc's andrea mitchell is in havana this morning. good morning to you. >> reporter: good morning to you. it is a windy, very hot sunny day here, but thousands of people already lined up. this the first public ceremony to honor fidel castro, these are the loyalists, the people who revere his memory, and even his controversial legacy. preparations for ceremonies today where fidel castro will be honored, before his remains are

this as investigators are focusing on the search for two suspected kidnappers who kidnapped her, held her for three weeks and then dropped her off over 150 miles away. this is the dark stretch of california highway where drivers saw a frantic sherri papini at 4:30 in the morning, waving, shackled and begging for help. >> chp is on the scene. she is chained to something. >> reporter: papini the mother of two told investigators she was held by two armed women described as hispanic. >> advising she is heavily battered and it is confirmed kidnapping. >> reporter: over the weekend detectives combing the area trying to find any surveillance video of the dark suv believed to have been driven by the captors. the closest building was this church where members say there wasn't much video to see. >> did they find anything? >> they didn't find anything. >> reporter: so far they have only spoken to papini once in person.

>> she had injuries and then she was transported to a local area hospital in the yellow county area, treated for her non-life threatening injuries and released. >> reporter: papini reunited with her husband who the sheriff says was ruled out early as a person of interest after passing a lie detector test. her family grateful for her return and the public support. her sister asking for privacy. >> i'm just concerned with the healing of my sister. >> reporter: in the several days since papini was found, no new descriptions of the two demale kidnappers and no information on their possible motives. >> have you seen anything that would make you think this was anything but a kidnapping? >> to this point absolutely not. >> reporter: at last check over 20 search warrants have been served. we understand over 400 tips have come in, the sheriff still asking people with information to come forward. >> thank you very much.

mouse club singing and dancing. this is kind of back to his roots, in a way. i would call this front-runner to win best picture oscar. the other movie is "fences." this is the movie adaptation of another play. viola davis and denzel washington. give her viola davis the best supporting actress now. >> i saw denzel's performance on broadway. just unbelievable. >> both of them are incredible. denzel directed it, too, by the way. >> my list is very unusual, i think. i saw "nocturnal animals." it is super dark. it's emotional roller coaster. it is all kinds of levels of not holiday but it is so amazing. it's -- my heart was pounding. jake gyllenhaal, phenomenal. it is an all-star cast.

but how you temper this -- every night leading up to christmas i watch "love actually." it's been a ritual. i put it in. i'll pause it. i don't watch the whole film. i just wrach atch it in increme. >> never seen it. >> i can't live like this. >> best christmas movie ever! >> you have to go a long way to top "elf." >> i don't think so. but i will watch it. >> your family -- like the opening scene of "love actually," you are at the airport and it reminds you of that moment when you are greeting a loved one. >> we didn't fly. up next, just like the movie, all roads lead to forrest gump? i don't even know what that means. and you never know what you're going to get when tom hanks recreates his famous scene. we'll show you what happens with tom as i guess a flashback. recently just turned 15. few months we found out she's been diagnosed with stage 4 hotchkins lymphoma. so it is sad -- but -- but, through it all it's become very inspiring. her spirit, her fire is crazy. her joy. she's lost her hair through the chemo, but she's in the 85 percentile of beating it. my mother has multiple sclerosis. now with "bounce back" bigger than a movie. i've partnered with children's miracle network hospitals so we are raising money and awareness to help her and her bills and her treatment but we're aware of millions of other kids so i'm going around the country to different hospitals meeting these kids, giving them the hugs, giving them the pound and letting them know that me and the children's miracle network are going to raise money so that they make it to see another day. >> it is a movement.
