complaints with refunds totaling $41,000 for people around the bay area. our team helped edward receive $750 for damage to a piece of baggage he was forced to check. browning had a dispute for double billing and we helped him fix it and get about $90 back. also in the south bay -- danny has been refunded $5,174. our most colorful case of the month took us to richmond, a contractor painted her mom's house pink and tried to stick $14,000 bill on her property taxes and we're happy to report that debt has been erased and the contractor forked over $2300 to hire someone else to repaint.

student who is recovering after jumping away from a moving car that was trying to abduct her. >> this happened earlier yesterday around 12:45 a woman, a student here at uc santa cruz, waiting for a bus here and tried to hitch a ride with a man in a said an who began driving by. the two began as police described as a casual conversation but once he got to her drop off point high street and bay drive, he kept going, for the next mile she pleaded to stop and she had jumped out of the car escaped with minor injuries.

==contvo== authorities say the other escaped inmate - rogelio chavez - was also found hiding in the attic. that was in a san jose home on wednesday night. =kris/cu= the c-h-p is investigating another shooting on an east bay freeway. =rail= it happened around three yesterday afternoon at the canal boulevard on-ramp to westbound i-580 in richmond. a witness saw people in one car shooting at another car . investigators located shell casings on the on-ramp - but no other evidence of a shooting. =vo= it follows another shooting on 580 just one day earlier. police say a man and woman were shot near the fruitvale exit. investigators closed eastbound traffic for hours while officers combed the roadway looking for evidence. the victims are expected to be okay. =kris//topvo= one person is dead - and two

events we planned later today including a bike-riding memory of the victim and some of those survivors. still struggling with some of the images that unfolded here a year ago. mass shooting took place during a holiday party. the attackers husband and wife working as health inspectors opened fire on their coworkers killing 14 and injuring 22 others. prz police shot and killed the couple about a mile from the location. the community struggled with so many loss of lives. the corner lot here became a gathering location for people to comfort each other and leave their tribute that's will continue later today include ag bike ride that will begin at the san bernardino police department and travel 14 miles, one mile for each person killed and law

terms. in congress. he's also a stanford grad. some of the world's most poisonous mushrooms are popping up all over the bay area. two species are sprouting up with the cold and weather we're seeing. a dog died earlier this month after eating one of the mushrooms. when another dog was brought in after ingesting one of the mushrooms one of the vets gave her an experimental treatment and she survived. >> we will go ahead and remove the bile where it builds up in large concentration and you don't allow that toxin to get back and hit the liver. >> while it's possible to treat the illness, vets say it makes more sense to keep your dogs away from mushrooms on the trail

concord. 63 degrees. in oakland you have the tree-lighting from 5-7 this evening, it will be 53 degrees so a nice one there. and tomorrow we have the winter spectacular in redwood city up to 63 degrees later in the day and at 11:00 you have the christmas parade happening. clear with lots of sunshine. great weekend for those events and all of the neighborhood holiday festivities going on. it will be mid 60s for tomorrow and inland. and sunday few more clouds in the morning and late evening and we will get ready for the next weather system bringing in the cooler temperatures and next week will be chilly, pretty much like all week long. we'll have clouds, cool weather and possibility of frost in the valley.

north west of atlanta. also investigating four other possible tornados as well. flu season has turned deadly, receiving the first report of flu-related death person under age of 65. the person who died lived in los angeles county. there's also been 11 cases requiring treatment in intensive care unit. seasonal flu outbreaks could happen early october but highest between december and february so still time to get your shots. doctors say it's important to get vaccinated. an innovative eye gel therapy, slow release gel, commonly used in human medicine have been found safe and effective option for treating sea lions.
