casualties. just how many they still aren't sure. at this hour, crews are still searching for people who are missing. the fire started around 11:30 last night at the 1300 block of 31st avenue in oakland. just north of the 880 near the fruitvale b.a.r.t. station. according to property records the building is zoned as a warehouse. the party inside last night was advertised as a rave cave as part of musician golden donna's 100% silk west coast tour. now, we will continue to bring you more information as it comes in. gone in less than 30 seconds. smash-and-grab teams working in groups are cleaning out apple stores with holiday shoppers still inside. organized crime in action with apple as its target. now, this is surveillance video of a san francisco apple store. crooks yelling, grabbing iphones, ipods and ipads. the scene is also playing out in stores in berkeley and

president-elect trump, reacting on twitter, on his decision to take a phone call from the president of taiwan. kelly o'donnell is at trump tower. good morning, kelly. >> reporter: good morning, craig. president-elect trump has taken dozens of calls from leaders around the world and most of them went by largely unnoticed, except when the call was placed by the president of taiwan. why? because four decades, no president or president-elect has been in touch with the leader of taiwan, because the u.s. only formally recognizes china as beijing, not taipei. so this really got the international kind of reaction stirred up. and donald trump is responding the way he often does, using twitter. so a couple of tweets from donald trump late last night. the first one says the president of taiwan, and then note the all caps, called me today. to wish me congratulations on winning the presidency. thank you. and then he goes on to make a point, that really touches on the fact that the u.s. does have a business and informal relationship with taiwan.

trump tweets, interesting how the u.s. sells taiwan billions of dollars of military equipment, but i should not accept a congratulations call. this really gets into the area, craig, of how diplomacy can be measured in syllables. and today in phone calls. the words that are used, how they're used and the appearances of how they're used makes a difference. for china, it makes a big difference. it was a small trick by taiwan, and says that the bedrock principle of one china, meaning the u.s. only recognizes there is one china, not taiwan as a separate state that that must be maintained. >> kelly o'donnell at trump tower, kelly, thank you. we have breaking news in oakland, california, a massive fire breaking out at a warehouse where a party was being held. you can see flames shooting out of the building. there are reports that some party goers were trapped inside

that building with friends posting messages on social media. officials say there are casualties but do not yet have any specific number. >> outrage in grief. the community is questioning why the killer of joel mcknight is not in custody. a vigil was held last night, five miles from new orleans. ronald gasser is free after he admitted shooting mcknight in a road rage incident thursday. the sheriff said race did not play apart in the shooting. gasser is white, mcknight is black. the investigation is still dinner way. charges may be coming. gasser was involved in a physical altercation with another driver at that same intersection ten years ago. a criminal charge was dismissed. olympic swimmer, ryan lochte, has turned down an offer from brazilian officials to drop

let's look at what's going on in the southwest, where santa anna winds are going to remain an issue because of that area of high pressure and the low from the south. in between the two, the winds come from more of a dry direction. so we are looking at gusts up to 70 to 80 miles per hour. things will start to im pro of as we go into tomorrow. on the flip side, we have flash flooding possible in texas, 8 to 11 inches of rain between today and tomorrow. then finally, we'll move into the southeast, on sunday night into monday, and that's where we could see much needed rain, finally helping with the drought conditions there. but it is going to be very wet along the gulf coast on sunday. good morning, a nice live look over san francisco. those windy conditions have made their exit and we're expecting mostly dry weather pattern along with nice temperatures, 46 degrees right now over san francisco.
