the georgia southwestern university campus. police released this wanting poster offering a $50,000 reward to capture minguell lembrick. kerry sanders has the story. >> an urgent manhunt under way. the suspect, minguell lembrick, accused of shooting two police officers. >> this is a very dangerous individual. we need to have him off the streets. >> 9:40 a.m., the officers responding to a domestic dispute at an apartment complex when shots were fired, the officer hit, and lembrick took off. a nearby golf course, area schools and georgia southwestern university on lockdown. a digital message sent to those on campus at gsw, police secure all doors and windows. >> within minutes of the call, our campus was on lockdown. >> killed officer nicholas smarr, 25 years old. four years on the america's police force. the other officer, four-year veteran jodi smith, with the georgia southwestern university police department, fighting for

his life. this has been a deadly year for law enforcement. 63 officers shot and killed in the line of duty. a 66% increase over last year. georgia among the top five most deadly for those who wear blue. >> that was kerry sanders. and this morning, there are two other manhunts under way in parts of the country. in columbia, south carolina, police tweeted this photo of a suspect after they say he stabbed a female officer multiple times outside a walmart. the officer is in stable condition and was treated at the scene. now officials are trying to determine if the suspect is the same convict who recently escaped a state prison. they're urging the public to dial 911 if they have any information on the suspect. >> in kansas city, authorities have replealeased this surveill video hoping it wid legal to the arrest of a man who ambushed an off-duty officer. the suspect walked up to him and began firing. the officer was not hurt and the suspect remains at large.

john glenn, the first american to orbit the earth, has been hospitalized iphis home state of ohio. he was admitted more than a week ago. the 95-year-old former marine and senator suffered a stroke two years ago after having heart valve replacement surgery. it's not clear what caused him to be taken to the hospital at the ohio state university, but he does not necessarily have cancer. this is according to a spokesman. >> a teenager is in critical condition this morning as police investigate a high school shooting in reno, nevada. this dramatic video posted online shows the teen waving two large knives and lurjing at a crowd of students. there was a second clip that showed an armed officer and the 14-year-old on the ground clutching his neck. authorities later confirm a teenager was shot by a campus police officer. the student was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition. police say the boy got in a fight and then began threatening other students with a knife. no other injuries, but as you can imagine, the community is in

shock. >> it's terrifying to think we drop our kids off so somebody else can teach them and somebody can walk on campus and hurt kids. >> police are in the process of interviewing 40 eyewitnesses, all of them students. classes will resume with counsellors on hand. the school officer is placed on administrative leave. >> overnight, president-elect donald trump directed a harsh critique to an american. he blasted on twitter the union leader who talked about care. . chuck jones has done a terrible job representing workers. then he fired off another one. if united steeler workers was any good, they would have kept those jobs in indiana. the man at the center of the criticism spoke to nbc shortly after trump blasted him on the social media site. >> i'm not bothered by it, by no means. i'm not backing up on my position one iota.
