7:11 am
reports, that the intelligence agencies agreed that the russians deployed hackers to have some involvement, some impact on the election, whether it resulted in a victory or loss for hillary clinton? >> first of all, we don't believe that -- we don't want intelligence interfering in our politics, but we also don't want politics interfering with our intelligence. that's what's happening here. if you look at some articles, they want the reader, the viewer to make that direct connection between interference and the election results. of course, these are leaked unsourced, nonsources if you will. that's what hearings for. >> when you talked about leaked and unsourced, mr. trump had no problem during the campaign using that same leaked unsourced information, negative information about the clinton campaign against hillary clinton. now he doesn't even seam to care where it's coming from. >> he cares very much about our intelligence community and any information they may divulge. that's number one.
7:12 am
number two, you're seeing these fbi and cia don't agree. that's very clear. and in the case of those e-mails, we saw right in front of us what they said. look, i do think there's something going on here, whether it's the recount, it's jim comey's fault, it's russian interference, a group of people we never met. >> they may be mutually exclusive. getting back to what you just said about he cares very deeply about intelligence, he said it can be russia, could be china, could be some guy in new jersey that doesn't seem to give me the sense that he understands the gravity of a foreign entity interfering in an election. >> he does. he also understands the gravity and the consequences of not having a great relationship with russia. we just simply don't. that's why some of his secretary of state picks are people already involved in russia. the ultimate decision of course rests with president-elect trump and he will make that announcement perhaps this week.
7:13 am
one of the leading candidates, rex tillerson is somebody who has dealt in russia over a number of years. overse oversees 70,000 employees. >> but it adds to the perspective, and i'm glad you bring mr. tillerson up, because on top of the questions about the russian's impact on the election and mr. trump's own words in the past about vladimir putin and liking his praise and now we have rex tillerson who has close ties to moscow, was against sanctions against russia, is he perhaps the right guy but at the wrong time, kellyanne? >> it's the right job description. we want somebody who's already accustomed to negotiates. we want somebody who because he is an oil man has been in ye men and china and russia. it's not like vladimir putin and rex tillerson are pounding down at the local bars. they're not intimate friends but they deal with each other through business interests.
7:14 am
i think anybody who is in president trump's cabinet, particularly the secretary of state, that person will be advancing the interests of the u.s. everywhere and that person will be advancing the agenda of president-elect trump. >> when will we know? >> probably this week. he may in fact announce that pick this week. everybody should appreciate how much time and deliberation and reflection he has spent on this very important pick is who will be the secretary of state. the world is a dangerous place. we don't have great relationships every wrch. picking some be who will advance interests, very important not to be rushed. >> thanks very having me, matt. >> matt, thanks so much. the man who shot new orleans saints player will smith has been convicted of manslaughter. found car dell hayes guilty in the shooting that killed will smith and wounded the player's wife.
