20 minutes or more. the muni system not reporting any delays through san francisco. we have a problem in the east bay over to san francisco. use the bay bridge. another issue as we get a wide look at the bay. the traffic pattern starting to fill in. and 880, a new crash just south of 92 there around tennyson. we have low clouds going through the livermore area now. >> yeah. all of that fog, along with very freezing temperatures, very cold temperatures in parts of the tri-valley as well that may cause concerns as you head out this morning. elsewhere, we are seeing clear visibility. a look at jose. we will see very cold weather the next couple of hours. it is only 38 degrees at least it will warm this afternoon. clouds will roll in with mild temperatur. tomorrow the rain returns. also gusty winds.

we'll have rain off and on with a few breaks in between. a closer look at the time in a few minutes. now back to you, sam and laura. >> a live look at the oakland federal courthouse n. a few hours noor salman will face a judge. she was arrested yesterday in rodeo by federal agents. video obtained exclusively by nbc bay area shows the agents arriving in that quiet rodeo neighborhood. she is facing charges of obstructing justice and aiding and abetting terrorism. police were investigating her for months. according to the "new york times", investigators say case includes statements that salman accompanied her husband when he scouted the nightclub. she said she had no idea why.

near the embarcadero. good news, the tracks are now clear. bad news, still a major delay system wide. a similar area to many of the bart tracks. consider that as an option. we will continue to see delays for the next two hours because bart tends to see that issue lifted. meanwhile, the roadways move pretty well. that is a good option. the battle over the lefty owe tkaouls. the reason we could have two

as you get to out the door, one last dry day. three storms expected by the end of the weekend. make sure you follow me on facebook and twitter. i'll have updates and a complete look at the microclimate forecast at 6:18. a major delay for the bart system. new this morning, good thing this wasn't part of the morning commute. crews worked quickly to clear a tree that fell across a busy road in alamo at midnight blocking the road. it damaged part of the property of a nearby home. everything was cleared before 3:00 a.m.

6:14. heads-up for drivers heading from the east bay over near the bay bridge. tonight is a second night of enter closures to interstate 80 to 580. they are working on a painting project. nearly six weeks after the open warehouse fire we are hearing from the parents of one of the few people who was to make it out alive. sam maxwell still in the hospital right now. he is learning how to breathe after being in a coma. >> go into a room that was full of furniture and full of smoke and no light and find the correct door. maxwell suffered severe smoke inhalation as he fought his way out of the warehouse. doctors said he would have to be put into a medically induced

coma. he suffered two bouts of pneumonia, blood infection, and chemical poisoning from all the chemicals he inhaled. >> he has to the learn how to use his vocal chords, all his muscles. >> maxwell's parents say it could take months, even years to recover. fast tracking new safety measures in the wake of the deadly ghost ship warehouse fire. it includes new inspection protocol. the city council will focus on an emergency ordinance doubling relocation fees for tenants.

right now, it is all dry. the last dry day before several days of rain will be moving into the bay area. so enjoy it. we are now looking at the temperatures. once again very chilly. 35 napa. 39 in palo alto. 42 in san francisco. we're expecting three as we head to the weekend. and out ahead of that, the national weather service has issued wind advisories for the entire bay area. this is for tomorrow. and the winds will be strong out of the south. we may have gusts 40 to 50 miles per hour. the wind stays calm today. tomorrow morning at 8:30, we start to see winds pigging up during the morning commute along the coastline. into the afternoon, lunchtime, winds from the south at 20 to 30 miles per hour. picking up as we go through the day with storms rolling in. you see the winds 40 to possibly

court in a few hours. >> that's where we find pete suratos this morning. good morning, pete. >> reporter: good morning to you, laura and sam. we just obtained the document. we know it lays out the charges that we talked about all morning. it looks like an indictment was filed five days ago january 12th. we know noor salman will be here at a federal courthouse in oakland in roughly a few hours. let's get to the exclusive video we have been showing you all morning. this is salman. right now yesterday morning at 8:00 a.m. motels before she was arrested. we can report a connection to the deadly nightclub shooting in orlando june 12th that killed 49 and wounded 53. charges include obstruction of justice as well as aiding and

abetting. they assumed she was cleared of any wrongdoing pause she was back at her family's home. clearly, that doesn't seem to be the case. >> i thought she was not a suspect. i thought after she came home everything was. >> she was just along for the ride. as far as him getting ammunition, my understanding is he was a security guard. he might have needed ammunition for his job as a security guard. >> reporter: nbc news reported from sources that mateen texted salman with the words, do you see what's happening? salman's attorney said she had no fore knowledge nor could she predict what mateen was going to do their son is in protective custody. she is due in court in oakland, 9:30 a.m. pete suratos, today in the bay. 6:36 right now.

before. the band leader says the decision was based on respect for bruce springsteen is and the e street band. he has been a vocal credit of president-elect trump. happening indeed, crews in the south bay taking steps to prevent more mudslides on highway 17 in the santa cruz mountains. many led to closures along highway 17 and a lot of delay. kris sanchez is live from the santa cruz mountains. >> reporter: good morning to you. the mudslides, rock slides were a huge problem. the hope is by closing partially highway 17 today for about seven hours, caltrans can kind of get ahead of the rock slides that might be at risk of coming down. shut down highway 17 for days.

the photographer is okay but the commute was a mess for days because it was cleared away. but others followed. today crews will put up a net. today caltrans will shut down one northbound lane of highway 17 at vine hill road where the big rockslide happened. this will be closed from 9:30 to 4:00. expect delays of 15 minutes. you should see flashing lights advise you of the closure. we will know that that rock wall net is meant for the big rocks. there are still little rocks that could be coming down. we have seen them in the last couple of weeks. dekhraoes your speed as soon as the storms start to roll in. kris sanchez, today in the bay. right now the time is 6:41. as you get ready to head out the door on the last dry day before

ready to walk off the job. ==take vo== the teamsters union has ave . more than 100 workers at sfo say they are ready to walk off the job. teamsters has approved a strike after rejecting a final offer from the garage operator. the union says the biggest issue is the increase in the cost of health benefits and cut in coverage. workers have not set a date for the strike yet and say they hope negotiations can continue. it will take longer to find

out how a whale that washed up near oakland died. it was found about two weekends ago during a massive storm. it was towed out to angel island for necropsy that was supposed to happen this week. but debris was washed into the area so that work has to be done. the necropsy will be next week. children's hospital los angeles say sensitive information was stolen from a laptop from a doctor's car back in october. there was personal health information of 3,00 different patients. the hospital is senning out letters to the families warning them their personal information could have been breached. 6:46 right now. we have been reporting america's national parks had a record number of visitors but there is growing concern more and more federally protected lands could

would make american-built bmws harder to export. mr. trump said 35% tariffs are coming for the chinese. that means iphones. they are certainly falling out after damaging ice storm moved through. >> the movie "frozen" comes to mind. where is elsa? here's this car with icicles hanging from it. this is western kansas. trees, cars, power lines frozen over. many toppled over in the field. good news, things are expected to warm up there today. highs are going to reach all the way into the low 40s. >> wow.

they look like ones that they photo shopped. that really is the case. that means chunks of ice falling down today once we get to below freezing. here cold temperatures. looking at patchy dense fog across parts of the bay area. a live look at dublin. i know you can't see much there. visibility is low. the drivers are having to deal with this. as we go into the next several days, expect to see three storms moving into the bay area. they will raise concern of flooding as we will have the potential of very refuse raihea. we will see a few breaks in between. yes, we will have elevated flood concern. as you step out the door in oakland, it is 39 degrees. 39 in palo alto. napa, 35 degrees. we are already seeing the clouds

moving in. the rain is still well to the north of us. this storm system as it initially moves in will bring in gusty wind. a wind advisory in effect as the front passes. southerly winds will gust 40, 50 miles per hour. winds pick up at 15 to 20 by tomorrow afternoon. winds sustained along the coastline. it is going to be windy. not only that, but concern of downed and power lines. the rain becomes more widespread by tomorrow afternoon and takes a break for thursday before, once again, the second storm system arrives on friday. so a lot of concerns here as we go into the forecast. considering the ground is already wet and we have the potential of two and a half to three inches of rain across the bay area.

and the russian river guerneville will have the potential of reaching near flood stage over the next couple of days. more updates on that. mike has an update on bart trains. >> riders might have to wait a little longer. i have been seeing trains both northbound and southbound operating on schedule. maybe a little bit more than a couple of trains. out to the map. let me show you in red here. major delay reported by bart because of a problem at the embarcadero station. you may not see delays. muni is an option. bart will take you on muni throughout san francisco. 880 through hayward. south 880 recovering. overall the map moves well.
