alert as we track the first of three storms move into the bay area. ? we have crews stationed across the bay area to make sure you're ready for the incoming rain. a live look right now from pacifica where high winds and strong waves are predicted ahead of the storms. good morning to you. thanks so much for joining us. i'm ra garcia-cannon. it going to pick up through the day starting out with light rain, a few pockets of heavy rain in between. as we go into the day, this evening's commute is really going to be a tough one as we will have wide heavy rain moving in. we had heavy rain early this morning that has since moved into the central valley towards patterson. we will see some of the showers continuing to move through. here's what to expect. the winds and the rain picking up today. the second storm system moves in early friday morning.

a third one on sunday morning. we'll have anywhere from two and a half to five inches of. with it falling on an already saturated grouped, flooding will be a concern. i'll have more on this. we'll look at the timeline of today's storms. that's coming up in five minutes. as we head over to mike now, tracking slowing in san jose. >> i wanted to make it very clear through the south bay we're showing just slowing on 101. it is a predictable area. showers coming through the area. it might complicate some people's commute. damp roadways. the sensors are green for much of the bay. slowing for the tri-valley is and hayward, in to union city out of hayward and the san mateo bridge. poppeding and puddling for the

this is a live look at the scene the car struck the side of the house 9:30 last night on 13th street. when officers arrived, they found the driver suffering from a gunshot wound. police say he died at the scene. we have since learned he was a 27-year-old man from martinez. police are not releasing details about the investigation other than to say it is still in the early stages. but they are asking anyone with information to call antioch police. the wife of the orlando nightclub shooter will be back in a bay area courtroom. the widow of omar mateen is due in federal court in oakland today. the question remains, is she a victim or an accomplice? federal prosecutors say she knew her husband was going on a rampage but her family members say that's not the case.

>> no. as you head out the door, a lot of cloudy skies. a look at the timeline today. we will see pockets of heavy rain moving in anywhere across the bay area. but a pretty widespread coverage out of the rain on the radar by 9:00 in the lunchtime hour, pockets of heavy rain even through the evening commute, the storm becoming more intense as we go through the day with a lot of reds and yellows with expense and heavy downpours. strong winds. winds gusting 40 to 50 miles per hour. even at 9:00 tonight. it becomes scattered but still pockets of heavy rain tonight. that's the first wave rain that will be moving in. then we will have more of this as we go into the day tomorrow as well as the next storm system is set to arrive early friday morning. coming up 6:13.

third avenue in downtown san mateo. an 18-year-old woman was sitting in a car when another woman came up to her and started fighting with her over the spot. the victim was stabbed through the car window, receiving a cut on her arm and hand. the attacker drove off but was later arrested >> a man approaches a girl and asks her to get inside his car. it happened just before 6:00 last night in the river plaza shopping center on washington street in petaluma. police say the 13-year-old girl was walking in the parking lot when the car approached her. she ran off and called police. they don't have a detailed description but they say he was driving a 1990 champagne colored honda four door sedan. >> verizon taking measures for people who still have their samsung galaxy note 7 to give up their phone. all nonemergency calls will now

49 degrees in the peninsula and the south bay. 44 in the north bay. we will see very heavy rain moving through in pockets, especially for the peninsula, over towards the bay. then the north bay will get in on heavy downpours as we go into the lunchtime hours. we will see that anywhere in the bay area. quick moving rain that may get more intense for 20, 30 minutes. then it gets a little bit lighter. but the bankrupt of the storm starts to hit us at 3:00 to 5:00. we will have wind blown rain and a very tricky evening commute. even at 9:30 tonight, we are seeing pockets of rain and wind dying down. we will still see rain moving through tomorrow.

on their tech gadgets that they received over the holidays. how much screen time is too much screen time. doctors say it can affect a child's sleep and increases the rates of obesity and negatively impact learning. for kids over the age of 6, parents should use their own discretion on daily screen time and be consistent. kids between 2 and 5, no more than one hour a day is recommended. kid under 2 should avoid screen time unless they consider it high quality programming. >> nbc bay area responds to a san francisco man who says the city of san francisco wrongfully threatened him with a lawsuit. >> chris chmura is here with our results. antonio went to the er back in 2012. doctors recommended he be transferred to the another hospital, so they called

ambulance to take him there. he went home the next day. he was released the next day. the insurance covered everything minus a $100 co-pay. so he was surprised when three and a half years later he he received an $1,800 notice of delinquency from the city. $1800 for the ambulance ride. apparently they hadn't billed his insurance back when it happened he said the city should have billed his insurance three years ago. before he would get an answer he received another notice from the city, this one a notice intention to file a lawsuit. he panicked and paid the $1,00 bill he was ticked off. in a statement it told us there was a miscommunication through the billing process and said it was moving forward with a full refund to the patient. $1,800. the city also apologized and wished antonio good health. we do too. if you have a consumer complaint

manning yesterday who shared classified documents with wikileaks, putting wikileaks on the map. many are wondering if the founder julian assange will turn himself in to authorities. here's the back story as to. last week, wikileaks tweeted, if president obama grants chelsea manning clemency, julian assange would agree to be extradited to the united states. no word if assange will surrender and keep his word. as for manning, she was convicted of stealing 700,000 classified documents. were were outraged by the president's move to grant her clemency. but the lbgtq center is praising the move. a guaranteed spot at a bart station. there's a catch. riders who car pool to the station and use an app called scoop will be guaranteed a spot until 10:00 in the morning.
