if you're heading out the door, make sure to give yourself extra time this morning. >> it was howling last night. kari hall with an update on when the next storm will hit. good morning. >> good morning. we will see spotty showers throughout the morning and early afternoon. then a little bit of break before the next storm system moves in. we will see more of the hit or miss variety of the storms. as we go into today, we have seen lightning. and we're seeing another spotty shower near santa rosa. that will be a quick one and done deal. that's the kind of weather we will see today with light showers off and on. and make sure you're following me on facebook and twitter. i'll have updates on what to expect. we'll be tracking that next storm and mike is tracking a crash near the bay bridge. >> crews are working hard to clear the roadways.

we're seeing the green. maybe it will make a special appearance. a crash and flares were out the last few minutes i think the tow truck. there, they cleared. there are the flares that remainment this is away from the bay bridge. getting to the bay bridge, traffic flow is smooth. mike, thank you very much. from the bay bridge to the san ma take heeo, the winds could definitely cause problems or for the morning commute. >> kris sanchez joins us. how are things feeling out there so far? >> reporter: well, as making our way, the hayward side here, he could definitely feel the van moving around just a bit. i left my hat on so we could see how windy it is.

>> good thursday morning. it is 4:40. a live look at san francisco. cloudy skies and trying to dry out from the rain we had just yesterday. some heavy amounts of rain. what to expect with the next two storms set to move in. wind gusts to 50 miles per hour creating potential for downed trees and power outages and coastal erosion. the next storm set to arrive late tonight. that's coming up at 4:46. and we're looking at travel for the tri-valley. this is your typical construction for highway 84. we're looking for the south bay.

highway 17 is fine through silicon valley. we have a crash in the santa cruz mountains. we'll talk about that. thanks so much, kari and mike. it is 4:40. four people hurt including a firefighter as flames engulf a town house in east jose on florence avenue off alum rock. a woman jumped from a second floor window to escape. a man was saved by a neighbor. >> we did what we were supposed to do. you want to help. there's no heroes here. you have to do what you have to do to help your brothers. >> still to word on the cause of that fire. a troubling nation why trend that hit the bay area yesterday. somebody called in a bomb threat to the marin jewish community center in san rafael.

they were able to get all the people inside, all the kids out safely. and then investigators didn't find anything there. ultimately giving an all clear a couple hours later. a jcc spokesperson said 28 centers in 17 different states received threats but the one from marin came in an automated phone call. coming up, the rain here means snow in the sierra. and a lot of it. when is the best time to head out to take advantage of incredible powder?

quarter to 5:00 is dumping plenty of snow in the sierra. certainly an up side for all of this for fears of snowboarders. for drivers, changes on interstate 80 and highway 50, only vehicles with four-wheel-drive are exempt from that. if you can get to the resorts in tahoe, what a nice payoff. the snow is said to be epic. rad, dude. > . light showers moving

through. wet roads in the morning commute. you may encounter standing water. for the post part we will see things a little bit better. much improved conditions as we go through the morning. now we see temperatures at 50 degrees at 4:46 as you step out the door. 52 degrees in san francisco and in the north bay. 49 degrees. highs reaching 57 today in the peninsula, tri-valley and the south bay. in san francisco, 56 degrees. and the east bay, 58 degrees. we are still the seeing rain here. we haven't seen it as widespread. it will come in waves off and on. once we get this little push of some rain, we may take a break for a while. getting a closer look at the showers moving through san francisco, approaching the embarcadero, chinatown, and farther east, we will start to see some of the rain moving through there. it gets heavier for san mateo, redwood city. it will rain for another 20 or

30 minutes. it is heading towards glen ellyn. some of the showers moving through there. we will start to see clearing here for parts of the bay area. especially for the east bay until 7:00 can. there may be another wave of spotty showers moving through. this will be off and on. we just need the umbrella. be prepared for anything as we go through the day. you may see the sun breaking out. we will have a mix of it all. we start to see the next wave moving in late tonight and early tomorrow morning during our drive in it is going to be very wet and windy and still lingering showers throughout the afternoon. so it's going to be very foggy, very unsettled as we go into the weekend. expecting three main storms to move in with an additional 1.to 2 inches for the east bay. most of us getting another 2 to 2 1/2 inches of rain. and the winds will start to pick up later tonight. for the most part today, winds

10 to 15 miles per hour. late tonight, look at those winds. up to 46 miles per hour at half moon bay. wind speeds 30 to 35. and then the winds calming down throughout the day on friday. as we look ahead, still expecting another storm on sunday. it pretty much looks red off and on. then heavy rain moving back in on sunday. and a lot more snow in the sierra. as we head over to mike now, how is it looking for the roads? we know chp issued a wind advisory. >> my wife came home last night and says, wow, you guys weren't kidding about the wind. it will be a factor. rooted ways are damp. not showing too much drama. sprinkles and showers throughout the morning so be prepared. northbound 17, a lot of slowing past the summit. the crash, aaron sent a note saying, hey, buddy, there's

i'm laura garcia-cannon. >> i'm sam brock. we are bracing for another storm about to hit the bay area. it is not just rain we will be dealing with. the high winds as well. a live look at the dunbarton bridge. >> we have team coverage to help you get up to speed. we'll start with meteorologist kari hall for an updated timeline. >> the first storm has already passed. this one is not giving us much time to dry out and recover. we are still seeing lingering spotty showers moving through the bay area this morning. still rain across parts of the bay. now as we get a closer look right there on the bay bridge you can see rain coming down. it is is approaching oakland and emeryville. for the peninsula, we have rain south of san mateo, redwood city. it is about to get heavier for 10 or 15 minutes.
