saying a 20% tax on imports from mexico could cover it. >> using comprehensive tax reform as a means to tax imports from countries that we have a trade deficit from, like mexico. if you tax that 50%, $50 billion at 20% of imports. by doing it that way, we can do $10 billion a year and pay for the wall. >> it was met with the media pushback from washington republicans with senator john connoren questioning the plan and driving up corona, tequila, margarita is a bad idea. that was when the white house walked back with reince priebus saying the import tax would be part of a quote, buffet of options. well the president then told peter alexander quote, we're going to tax people coming in, look, we cannot lose our companies to mexico or any other place and then have them make the product and just send it across the borders free.
