==sat== a live look near the louvre in paris - which is now returning to normal after a suspected terror attack that ended with ==vo==ch soldier shooting a man. it unfolded this morningside the world famous museum. police say a suspect approached the museum carrying two bags. soldiers told him that he could not bring his bags -- that's when he pulled out a machete and shouted, "god is great" in arabic. a soldier shot the man several times. he survived and is now in custody. the nearby area was evacuate- b lifted. bak to r weather --=laura/radarg through right now -- which could make for a slippery commute. =laura/live= a live look outside in san jose-- highway 101 already

slick... we're monitoring altherouble spots for you this morning.. today in the bay's pete suratos is live in novato with how things are spg up therso far. pete? have you seen downpours where you are? >> reporter: good morning to you, sam and laura. the rain was coming down stronger. a slight drizzle here along highway 37. we saw a good amount of rain flooding out the highway. they put mechanisms in place to handle that. we'll get to that in a second. we had video overnight. downed trees around the bay area. the first is in marin county. the tree blocking down a roadway. pull up another piece of video. downed trees. but in this case it knocked down a power pole and brought out pg&e crews. >> we were trying to fix it with a splint there.

hour. tensions on campus remain very high this morning on the cal campus there in berkeley after a wednesday night violent protest. students telling us the republicans with red hats on still being taunted. bun was attacked by two men who came out of a car and went after them. they were not students. they have since been arrested. a weekly meeting was held as scheduled. they vowed to continue standing up for free speech. >> they essentially invited yiannopolous to speak.

>> i'm not glad the protests turned violent. it was not us. >> many republicans believe wednesday night's violent protests prevented their free speech was a win for their growing group. >> a man and woman are in custody accused of leading police on a wild high-speed chase that ended in a crash. it started 4:30 yesterday afternoon when they tried to stop an alleged stolen suv in oakland. the it took police down highway 13. it rolled down an embankment. the man and woman took off running. that triggered a search through the evening commute. they were found under the deck of a nearby home. a gun was found inside the stolen suv. >> coming up, keeping track of the latest wet weather. some woke up to pouring rain. that included me. the roads are wet.

good friday morning. time now is 4:39. and we're still tracking some rain moving through the bay area. some pockets of heavy downpours. we will see this for the next couple of hours. then the rain winding down as cooler and dryer air moves in. a look ahead to the weekend forecast coming up at 4:46. and a live look outside at the bay bridge. the conditions are tough. thank you very much, kari and mike. the parents of a woman killed by a hit and run driver is demanding justice. she died last december after being hit in san bruno while crossing the street. she was legally crossing the street when a white suv driver hit her. the driver is yet to be found.

50s to lower 6 0s. 59 in the peninsula. 60 in the south bay. our temperatures are still fairly mild. then coming down for the rest of the day. seeing some of the pockets of some of the heavier rain moving in. we'll rough for the next few minutes. san bruno, our storm ranger giving us a detailed look. heavy downpours in san rafael. that's starting to clear out. farther north, you're not seeing as much rain.

we had reports of two separate crashes. and i think they may have been cleared from the roads. let's stick with that. a smooth flow of traffic towards the bay bridge. the crash is in lafayette. my map froze. we will have to move on to the bay bridge. no, it has not frozen. okay. we have computer issues this morning, but your commute has no delays. bay bridge toll plaza with the water there. the crash in lafayette, highway 24, the off-ramp there. it may be a factor for folks traveling off the walnut cream interchange. there may be two there. there's the bay bridge. with all of that rain happening here. san jose camera, 101 and 680. there's soupy conditions. south bay as well. all over the bay, you may encounter slicker roadways.

and standing water in spots. as the rain continues to move in. we're seeing red on the radar. we have our stormranger powered up. our mobile doppler radar parked on san bruno mountain. it is scanning around the bay area, picking up on this last round of heavy rain moving in. it is showing the heaviest rain moving through 101 and north mar marin county, tiburon as well. it is starting to taper off in clayton. more heavy downpours from south city, san te'o, redwood city, palo alto. all of this rain moving through, slick spots on the roadways. and it is creating problems. mike is tracking with crash and flooding in the east bay. >> that's in the east bay right now. the rain coming across the peninsula. watch for more issues on the san ma
