"early today" starts right now. so great being with you on a monday morning. i'm frances rivera. did you watch until the end? they are calling it the greatest super bowl of all time from shattering the record books to crowning the greatest quarterback to ever play the game, the celebrations were euphoric in one of the most unlikely comebacks in pro football history. the hard-nosed coach and a sure-fire signal caller of the new england patriots took their fifth vince lombardi trophy from the jaws of defeat in an overtime thriller. started with a coin toss and applause for george h.w. bush and his wife barbara to get the action started. both had just recovered from hospital stays. the high-flying atlanta falcons stunned the pats with a scoring onslaught. >> touchdown, atlanta. end zone. pass is caught for the touchdown. austin hooper. >> falcons overload the right side of the patriots offensive line. the pass is picked.

>> and new england is going to celebrate for days. the city of boston will be throwing a super bowl parade for the returning victors on tuesday morning at 11:00 a.m. turning now to politics where for a third straight weekend massive protests erupted as thousands rallied against the president's temporarily travel ban aimed mostly at muslims. as refugees and families previously granted visas rushed to the u.s. coming into the country some meeting for the very first time. well now a federal appeals court is poised to move on president trump's travel ban. the justice department expected to hand in its argument for the restrictions. the deadline to do so is 6:00 p.m. eastern. after those againsz the ban handed in their briefs early this morning with some of silicon's biggest names including apple, google, facebook and twitter. the trump administration acted to get the travel ban reinstated following a washington judge's decision to block d executive order. president trump referring to the

man behind that decision, u.s. district court judge james robart, a george w. bush appointee as a so-called judge tweeting in several bursts over the weekend, quote, ridiculous ruling will be overturned. trump tweets, just cannot believe a judge would put our country in such peril. if something happens blame him and court system. people pouring in. bad. and speaking of his own authority, quote, i have instructed homeland security to check people coming into our country very carefully. the courts are making the job very difficult. republicans, meanwhile, jumped on the president's comments towards the washington judge. >> i'll be honest i don't understand language like that. we don't have so-called judges, so-called senators, we don't have so-called presidents. we have people from three different branches of government who take an oath to uphold and defend the constitution. >> we all get disappointed from time to time. at the outcome in courts on things that we care about, but i think it's best to avoid criticizing judges individually. >> and vice president mike pence

vowed to take every course necessary to see that the ban goes into effect while defending the presidents tweets on judge robart. >> well, look, the president of the united states has every right to criticize the other two branches of government and we have a long tradition of that. >> the judge made the wrong decision, the boston court made the right decision. we will continue to use all legal means at our disposal to stay that order. in the meantime the travel ban remains temporarily suspended as the drama plays out in the courts, so what does that mean for travelers? the department of homeland security and state as well as borders and customs agents, have all been ordered to stand down. but that's not the only news emanating from the white house this morning. president trump said he had respect for russian president vladimir putin and then added this in an exchange with the fox news anchor bill o'reilly. >> and if russia helps us in the fight against isis, which is a major fight, and islamic terrorism, all over the world. >> right. >> major fight, that's a good
