is engulfing the white house. nbc news learned james comey asked the fbi's department to reject donald trump's latest claims after accusing former president obama without evidence of wiretapping his trump tower office during the 2016 claim. he waged the claim via twitter. it turned the political world on its head. >> reporter: explosive allegations from the president. >> reporter: new accusations from the president in a series of tweets. president trump allegation that former president obama tapped his phone during the election. >> this is one of six tweets he fired off. he wrote, terrible. just found out obama had my wires tapped in trump tower. nothing found. this is mccartyism. >> there's no evidence to back up the claim. >> the president is offering zero proof to support this allegation. >> reporter: the white house won't say where exactly this information is coming from. >> former president obama

fire missiles. south korean officials say what this does is give proof that they need that u.s. designed missile defense system deployed by the end of the year. this is the second test since president trump took office. not believed to be the type of missile that is are capable of reaching the u.s. the state department said in a statement the u.s. will use its full range of capabilities against this growing threat. china also said it was opposed to the launch, but officials did note the u.s. south korea joint military drills as exasperating the north. china remains opposed to the defense missile system and difficult to pressure beijing to reign in the north. >> janice, thank you. back here at home, the u.s. marine corps is in the middle of a massive scandal involving
