i'm sam brk. ==is/4shot=and i'm krisanchez - u good monday morning. thank you very much for joining us. i'm sam brock. >> i'm kris sanchez. i'm in for laura garcia-cannon. we are in a micro weather climate alert as snow and hail is still hitting parts of the bay area. look at this video just into our newsroom. this is berkeley, and that's snow. early march and we're seeing snow in several places around the bay area. this is really strange weather for what is supposed to be close to spring. >> definitely. this cold front packed a punch. made for the thunderstorms we saw last night, chances for sleet and snow again on the
4:31 am
roads, even the lower elevation areas again. if you're just waking up, you'll notice we're seeing scattered showers across the bay area. in san francisco, still fairly cold, 43 degrees. north bay, 39 degrees. the east bay, 47 degrees. here's a live look at the doppler radar. we have plenty of action on the map. we will keep the chance for possible hail through the early afternoon. if you have not put your car underneath a patio cover or a garage, i would say do that now if you're awake, just in case. over the next couple of hours, we're still going to see the snow levels and a chance of seeing hail, of course, with some sleet at times. some areas that are already still seeing it. we'll keep a close eye on this. i'll have a closer look at what we're anticipating over the next couple of hours, and what we're expecting to warm up into. not much, i'll tell you that. let's turn things over to mike. >> snow, sleet, hail, that won't stop your e-mail. that's the new version.

driving skills to the test. how is it looking this morning? >> morning kris and sam. on the way up, we had to be careful. slick roads on highway 17 and signs posted saying icy roads, reduce speeds. that's the concern, if it gets colder up here at the summit, which it probably will, they could turn into slick roads out there. the question is how long will the snow last at the higher elevations. yesterday you didn't have to travel very high up in places throughout the bay area including saratoga, the east bay. you could just go in your own backyard, see hail and sleet come down. thanks to viewers, we have some beautiful pictures of snow on mt. diablo with signs of spring in the foreground. you never know how to dress these days. you need to wear layers, bring an umbrella and the chp warned drivers last night along highway 280 south san francisco that hail was making for some dangerous conditions. accidents were happening there along the highway 280.
