6:00 santa clara may be delayed because of track maintenance work south of there. back to you. mike, thank you very much. we are learning new details about a popular little league coach and preside. >> today in the bay bob redell with the latest developments in the case certainly gripping the south bay. bob? >> reporter: good morning to you, laura and sam. nbc bay area news learned that suspect had a run-in with police just last month. he, along with five other people, have been arrested, as you mentioned, in connection with the death of frank navarrn. he was a popular little league coach who happened to work security at a popular bar here in downtown san jose, which is where he was stand to death last month.

police arrested 23-year-old cervantes during a january probation search for being a felon in possession on of a firearm. the d.a., however, decided to drop those charges. officers arrested 32-year-old robert ruiz. he was also arrested during a probation search in january. the d.a. drop those charges as well. police have arrested five men and one woman in connection with the murder of navarro. later today, two men are expected in court here at the hall of justice in san jose. santos trevino is the man holding the knife used to kill frank navarro. bob redell, today in the bay. >> bob, thank you very much. news now from d.c. and here we go.

today congress begins its debate on a proposed bill to repeal and replace the affordable care act. we're learning republicans are very divided on what to do going forward. the battle is about to get under way. edward, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. the battle will be a little bit bigger. we will have two competing bills going forward to repeal and replace obamacare. republicans are divided not just down party lines but within the republican party. the debate starts this morning on the republican plan to repeal and replace obamacare. this will be the first test of the president's party getting his agenda through congress. >> this president made it very clear to us he wants this legislation passed. >> it will allow kids to stay on their health insurance until age 26. but this plan removes the

subsid, instead giving tax credits, seeing the money back at the end of the year. tennessee musician jay worries. >> i don't see it being enough to be able to buy insurance on the private mark. >> reporter: the most serious threat to repeal and replace comes from republicans themselves. the more conservative members of the republican party introduced another bill that just repealed obamacare leaving the replace forever. >> we are united on repeal but divided on replacementment. >> several members say they feel rushed and want to slow down the timeline to more closely look at the situation. thank you, edward. today hawaii state leaders say they will file a legal challenge to president trump's new immigration executive order. the state's attorney general sued mr. trump's order before it was launched by a federal judge

in seattle. hawaii will file an amended complaint. >> they decided the city would not back a blanket sanctuary city. the state already has safeguards in place that address some of the concerns in sanctuary city policies. meantime, san francisco leaders later this month will be debating whether or not to divest from companies with ties to the controversial dakota pipeline. 14% of the city's current portfolio is in some way connected to the pipeline project. construction has started up again on that project.

take a look at that. a section of roof came crashing down on workers at a carson strip mall. security camera captured the moment it happened yesterday afternoon. the front of the building a clothing store. everyone mappinged to get out in time. no one was hurt. >> wow. that was very fortunate. no one was hurt. developing this morning. a live look at bill locksy, mississippi. four people died, dozens more injured when a freight train struck a charter tour bus. a popular place for tourists. it was going through downtown. the bus got stuck on the track as the driver was trying to go over it. you see it on the train tracks. the train took the bus 100 yards down the track. first responders had to pull some of the passengers through

windows to get to safety. the accident happened as the driver was trying the get passengers off the bus. that crash right now still under investigation. state lawmakers in sacramento today will ask not only if california is ready for driverless cars but is the insurance industry ready. today a state senate committee will guarantee protections. it brings up questions. for example, if a computer malfunction causes an accident, liability shift to the company that manufactured the machine and not the operator. >> they could cost you more money even if you don't own one. >> scott mcgrew continues our coverage this morning. >> good morning to you. insurance companies are bracing for a day when driverless cars demand lower car insurance premiums because they don't get into accidents. which means people who do will

this issue was first brought up back in february during a city hall -- during a city council meeting here in alameda. the topic was brought up by a group of residents who organized under alameda for impeachment. it could warrant anim peachment of president trump. a few claims include just the few right here. they are saying violation of the united states constitution and ethics statutes. and conspiracy to comp the integrity of u.s. elections. and obstruction of justice. of course claiming his subordinates have deliberate ignored constitutional provisions and compromised lawful programs. it will be sent to barbara lee

to rally support for an investigation. >> pete, thank you very much. this morning we are learning about two arrests made in a violent home invasion in san francisco. a pair, this pair barged through a home in the district about 1:30 in the morning. one of those suspects allegedly hit a victim with a gun highly the other punched him. they were able to point one at him too. they were arrested thursday >> a peninsula city wants residents to know they are doing everything they can to keep them safe. if you would like to attend, the meeting at 6:30. a high school scandal to tell you about. close to a dozen napa high school football players are under investigation. right now they are accused of hazing other students. expulsion hearings are expected

he fell. did you see it there? a home went up in flames in ogden, utah. the man walked out onto a roof from the second story window. he reportedly suffered severe burns along one side of his body. new this morning, gunmen storm a military hospital in affect overnight. it happened not far u.s. embassy in kabul. witnesses say one of the gunmen dressed in a white doctor's coat took out an ak-47 and started shooting. at least four people were killed and 60 others wounded. dozens of people were killed in coordinated attacks in kabul. the taliban claimed responsibility for those attacks. no one claimed responsibility gore the most recent one. >> happening today, a man accused of making threats to jewish community centers and is synagogueses across the country is expected in court. juan thompson is a former journalist who was fired last

year when he was accused of making up quotes and sources. he was arrested in st. louis last week. federal agents say he called or e-mailed jewish institutions across the country. he is now facing a federal cyber talkinging charge. despite that arrest, there were still threats made just yesterday. scott mcgrew has been examining the president's first 100 days. today is day 48. >> scott, big trouble for the replacement for obamacare. >> sam, a only recently started covering politics. i thought it would be hard for people to talk to me. this has been easy. ahca. that is the secretary of health and human services talking about it. he's an actual doctor.

coming up in just a couple of minutes. happening right now, the fbi is pwhrabrought in to help a hoe investigation. an arrest may be made. they were called to the 800 block of blue bill way yesterday morning not far from highway 12. officers found a woman in the house who they say has been killed. now officers say there aren't any other victims. police are planning to hold a news conference and bring an update in just a couple of hours at 8:00. 5:57. new this morning, very few baby boomers are being screened for hepatitis c. new data shows 14% of boomers were tested last year. that's up from 12% in 2013. but it is still low. baby boomers make up 80% of more than 3 million cases in the u.s. most are unaware they even have

the infection. new, sonoma state university the first public university anywhere in the country to offer a course on medical marijuana. it helps people understand how it works as well as the legalism indications of it. it is now legal in 28 different states and the district of columbia. eight states, and that includes california, legalized recreational marijuana as well. people aren't the only ones who want to use it for pain and illness. pets are as well. more state legalize pot, pet owners are giving their dogs and cats cannabis-based oils to treat their pets. there is not enough teufbg dasc data to prove that it is safe. 5:58.
