station with a warning from police. rick? >> reporter: in this area of palo alto within hours of each other. it is very possible. the first attack happened 9:00 wednesday night near the bus station on university avenue. the woman got away. the suspect ran off. an hour later, police receive a report of another sexual assault just a few blocks away at the caltrain station on university avenue. police did release a sketch of the suspect. look closely if you happen to know this person. and they are telling us they believe the suspect may be sneaking up on his victims, possibly victims distracted by their electronic devices. be alert and be very aware. rick boone for today in the bay.

the search is on for more suspected wanted in connection to last month's violence on the u.c. berkeley campus. some of them are kind of unclear and hard to make out. but that is who they are looking for. the university ended up canceling the event when the protest got out of hand. awaiting a status report on the emergency repairs and response as an east bay community remains cut off after recent storms. this weekend, another public meeting will be held in the hopes of getting answers for people living on morgan territory road in clayton. a chunk of the road missing there. a mudslide broke a water lane taking out much of the road. they voted for an emergency declaration to allow the county to speed up the process.

it is a few days before actual st. patrick's day. 166th annual st. patrick's day parade. 100,000 people are expected to go the parade starting at 11:30. a day long festival at the plaza after that. a full six days to celebrate before the official st. paddy's day arrives on friday. if you're going to be one of the folks going to any event this weekend, it will be gorgeous. 53 degrees in san jose. also expect issing to climb into the 60s and 70s across the entire bay area. a high of 65 for san francisco. 73 in san jose. we do want to remind folks it is spring forward. don't forget to forward your

good morning. 6:12. as you're finishing up or just starting your breakfast, here's a quick check of what you can expect for the school day forecast. mild temps. light sweater needed. nice and cool. but we will be warming up quite nicely by 1:00. the temps will be hitting the mid-60s and lower 70s for inland areas. it will be a sunny day for the kids, so pack on the sunscreen. your forecast coming up in a few minutes. >> i'm sorry, but i only have green on this travel time report. smooth drive at 60 miles per hour. but the metering lights are on. >> green is good. it's going smoothly. thank you, mike. 6:13 right now. the damaged spillway at the oroville dam is expect to go release water in the next week. state department of water resources says the concrete spillway will begin releasing water next friday when the lake's water level is expected

to hit 865 feet. the problems here of course started early last month when a massive hole was found in the main spillway during all the winter storms. 200,000 people who live near the dam were forced to evacuate when the emergency spillway started to erode sam. >> a gruel six-hour meeting between city leaders and flood victims angry over what the city has angled was a bungled response to the worst response in decades. most victims continue to go ask, where was the warning. >> someone came to hi door, knocked o door at 9:00 in the evening. it was a fireman in a boat. and he said, we're evacuatineva jump in. that was my first notice from the city. >> a city manager's report says that data from the water district before the flooding was flawed. in the meantime, the water

district is holding its own public meetings next month. doctors from stanford are training mts in a country with very few paramedics. they have trained four dozen in nepal since december. they are facing an extreme shortage of ambulances and emergency technicians. stanford doctors say there is no between an ambulance and taxi if they aren't trained to use the emergency equipment inside it. they are learning first-aid, trauma, and even delivering babies. breaking news out of oakland where police are just telling us where one of their officer's cruisers may have been involved in a crash. it is unfolding at broadway and 41st street. rick boone headed that way right now. he will join us with a live report coming up in a few minutes. >> a deadly coast listeria

outbreak being tied to contaminated cheese. four more have been hospitali d hospitalized. the cheese was made with raw milk. the cheese is distributed nationally. the product you should look out for is a soft cheese olea. nevada may be the next state to expand where marijuana can legally be used. it would allow it in certain public locations. local governments could offer permits to casinos, clubs, and possibly massage parlors. the state senator proposing the new law believes pot clubs could spark new revenues for the tourist industry. >> a live look outside now at the gorgeous golden gate bridge. a lot of folks like to get out and enjoy the recreation, walk along the pathways. if you are planning on taking a nice stroll across the bridge, make different plans.

p well, try as we might, many of us just cannot kick the habit of constantly checking your phone. the more you do it, the more stressed out you're likely to feel. that is according to a new study out of the american psychological association. researchers say we are a nation of constanters. all that checking is taking its toll. a new study found 9 out of 10 americans found they constantly or at least regular checking text messages, social media is and e-mails. those who check the most often have the highest levels of stress. researchers say the kids are getting hooked too which adds stress for parents. >> six of ten felt their kids were attached to their tablet or phone. >> half of all parents say managing their kids constant screen time is a battle.

police in menlo park looking for what caused a rollover crash. a woman says one of the drivers took off on foot and jumped the fence. chp says there were no serious injuries. >> a developing story out of the south bay. parents in santa clara phoned police last night worried about their son and a frontation ensues ending with him dead. this morning there are many questions about why officers had to use lethal force. >> reporter: the police captain said all police officers wear body camera. that will be handed over to the district attorney's office. the man was shot and killed by is santa ra police. his name has not yet been released. all began when one of the

victim's parents called and said their son was acting erratically. >> the incident transitioned into a situation where an had to use deadly force. one officer fired his weapon. >> they added that a nonlethal option had been used and taser was deployed. west side of scott boulevard was closed for five hours between monroe and martin. police went over the scene several yards from deborah drive. the man was some distance away from the initial call. it is still unclear what happened and why the body was found in a different location than the initial call. the officer involved is an eight-year veteran he has been

down as police continue their investigation. we're quite sure what happened. we're hearing from the witnesses on scene. no injuries to him. i asked about the injuries to the officer. he did not tell me about that at all. he apparently is still here. i don't know about any other injuries here in the area. is certainly this part of oakland shut down. the vehicle up on a tow truck. once that's out, i guess this part of the road will be cleared up. rick boone for today in the bay. >> thanks for the latest.

check in with mike inouye to see if there is a traffic impact in that area. >> it is local. obviously this is closed because of the officer-involved shooting. broadway at pleasant valley. this is a good distance outside the downtown area where a lot more traffic in coming in. this is about 20 blocks from there. back out to the maps. i wanted to show you that between downtown oakland over here and the incident which is over here. you have 580 interchange there. between highway 24 and 580. so if that is the area where you're traveling, just off broadway. it is at pleasant valley. it is not overhere at the downtown area. so far those downtown streets are moving well.

rick? >> reporter: i just talked to oakland police. the very latest on the condition of the officer. he is in the hospital ght now. he does have a cut to his head. they say he is going to be okay. the other driver in the vehicle is okay. he actually drove off. police are still here on the scene investigate issing this crash that happened just a few hours ago involving the officer. according to the other driver, the officer backed into him and crashed into the back of the car. you can still see some of the damage on the roadway as investigators are still investigating the scene. they have opened up one lane of traffic heading westbound. here if you need to go in this direction, this will be north or eastbound. the officer is in the hospital
