we'll track the berkeley area. no incidents reported. just past the toll plaza. here's the toll plaza itself. no lanes blocked. 4:32. new this morning, new information about a chase in the south bay. a driver eludes deputies. >> details just coming into the newsroom. bob, we understand they eventually did track down their man. >> reporter: good morning to you, sam and laura. it appears that the suspect's body gave up on him when companities final found him. he was unconscious, passed out in front of a yard in the east san jose neighborhood. that's when they took him into custody. he was driving a vehicle with a woman passenger. 1:45 the sheriff's office tried to pull him over. he refused. led law enforcement on a pursuit

to this street, 3,000 block of lindview drive. deputies called for backup. some donned helmets and body armor. at 3:00, they found the man unconscious in front of a home on 3,000 block of quinnby, one street over. he was two houses over from where he ditched his vehicle. don't know what caused him to pass out. he was taken into custody. he had warrants for his arrest. his female passenger was detained. >> today one of the suspects in a deadly east bay shooting is expected to face a judge for the first time. elliott johnson is going to be arraigned later today. he is one of three people held in connection with the shooting on i-80 in richmond that ended up shutting down traffic on that busy freeway for hours. they believe demarcus doss was

specifically targeted when he was shot and killed on san pablo avenue. the other two suspects are teenagers. the san francisco women in the mission on friday is facing two charges this morning. she's speaking to us from her jail cell. she doesn't want us to show her face. but here's what happened last week. the building manager called police on her after she allegedly pulled a gun on a pest control worker. she was intoxicated and doesn't remember doing that but says she owns a face gun. she remembers officers outside her door with weapons drawn. she does recall getting angry them. >> i did say go ahead and shoot me. i they said that i said kill me, kill me. i don't recall that i said that. i could have because i was pretty agitated. they were shooting at me.

investigating new ads-- aft a ga of dirt kers attack a ly drivern highway 101 in san fnsco. nbc bay area s their >> good morning police are investigating new leads after a gang of dirt bikers attacked a lyft driver. nbc bay area was the first to talk about it on saturday. from his hospital bed,ing he said investigators seemed focused on one gang in particular and may have photos of the suspects. >> they were going to have me go through pictures to see if i could rebney of them. >> his left leg was broken in three places. chp investigators say they are not ready to officially name any gang or suspects. happening today, there's a new push in california to expand collecting dna evidence and is taking its first step later today. under current law authorities can only collect from felony suspects. an assemblyman wants to include

it to people whose crimes have been misdemeanors. critics counter that collecting dna from shoplifters and minor drug offenders goes too far. a similar bill ended up failing last year. the new measure gets its hearing in assembly committee. the house intelligence committee says it will subpoena the justice department if it fails to provide evidence to back up the president's allegations. the d.o.j. was supposed to deliver that news yesterday but asked for an extension. they have until march 20th, when the committee will hold its different conference on russian interference. rex tillerson is embarking on his first visit to asia. he leads today to represent the u.s. for first time. it will include stops in japan, south korea, and china.

temperatures. as we look ahead to the weekend. more chances of rain in the forecast between late saturday night, sunday. i for one am glad to see more rain in the forecast. we don't want to be completely done with the showers. it could be active next week, monday and tuesday with another round of rain moving in. just looking ahead, this gives us an idea how much rain we could see. with the first system moving in tomorrow evening, not a lot of rain for the north bay. maybe 0.1. next week, we could have up to half an inch of rain. that starts to move in early sunday morning. if you're following me on facebook and twitter, i'll keep you up to date on everything going on. of course you can send me a look at what's happening where you live. we're going to see a major temperature dropoff with the cold front moving in. it warms up for the end of the week. this weekend looking fair lu mild. you'll see the temperatures

going up and down from 80 today to 70 tomorrow. 68 degrees on thursday. but a rebound once again for the weekend. and slight chance of showers starting out late saturday night. and as we head over to mike now, a ladder in the lanes? >> yeah, ladder in the lanes. that's not what you want. northbound 87 right north of capital expressway, we have reports of a ladder laying across a couple lanes. a traffic break from highway 85. very light right now. it shouldn't delay you much. every minute counts early in the morning. the bay bridge, i scanned the area. we haven't seen any disabled vehicle or any lanes blocked. no activity other than a smooth drive. that's great stuff. travel times for the tri-valley, for example, we expect to see slowing on grant line road.
