in the last 30 minutes we have learned that a maryland federal judge is the second judge to block president trump to revise the travel ban. >> it comes on the heels of what happened yesterday when a judge issued a nationwide ban hours before it was set to go into effect. they were discriminatory. the executive order would have restricted travel from six predominantly muslim companies and banned all refugees for 120 days. tracie potts is following the story. she will bring us an update live at 5:00. 4:32. a somber milestone. today marks five years sierra lamar was last seen. >> this as the trial for the man accused of killing her continues

this morning. today in the bay kris sanchez joining us live from the courthouse with details where the trial stands. no doubt today will be emotional one for the family. still a waiting answers five years later. >> this was the day in 2012 that her mother called 911 frantically asking for help in trying to find her daughter. as you said, it has been a long five years for her and for sierra lamar's father steve who has been in the courthouse for most days of the trial. we have learned the face of the woman who testified that garcia torres got into the back seat of her car in a safeway parking lot where she picked up groceries and where garcia torres worked. >> these victims are the building blocks of the prosecution's case to show mr.

a harvard educated. a seven-hour standoff comes to an end with a suspect in handcuffs. it is a story we have been following overnight with you. he he allegedly tried to strangle his mother. it happened across the street from the edenvale branch library. he barricaded himself inside an apartment. officers eventually did get that man out. the 38-year-old allegeedly attacked his mother at the oak tree victim is large apartments. it started 6:00 last night. the mother and daughter were able to get out of the house. the suspect taken into custody 1:00 this morning. now to berkeley where this man is behind bars after taking police on a wild case and eventually climbing onto a rooftop try to evade their

arrest. police officers tried to pull him over as he was driving a white pickup. he rammed his truck into a police car and took off. he led police on a chase back through oakland, crashing into cars in berkeley. a man's wife was driving one of the car that the suspect crashed his car into. >> he was saying, oh, my god, i'm hit, i'm hit. i said are you okay? he said yeah, i was getting chased. >> i saw cops outside with guns. so we locked the doors and ran into the back. all the staff helped us hide and made sure we were okay. turned off all the lights. >> a terrifying scene for people nearby all of this. there was a woman in the suspect's truck. she was also arrested. before the suspect came down from the roof and surrendered he

4:39 on your thursday morning. a legal blow for the city of san jose. it has reportedly lost its bid when donald trump supporters were in confrontation with angry demonstrators. one supporter covered in eggs. you see her being hit there. 20 people later sued the city claiming police stood by and didn't intervene when that was happening. the judge denied the city's request to dismiss the lawsuit. right now parents have a new tool to see how their local schools perform with a report card. blue is the best and red is the worst.

>> thinking about march madness, i was just told to get my head in the game. it's going to be a hard day to stay inside and watch basketball all day because we will have sunshine. even though we start out with patchy fog this morning. we have seen the patchy fog reducing visibility down to two and a half miles. so it's not too bad. half moon bay down to a mile. at least it's not very cold. 70 degrees in san jose and livermore. 72 in napa. san francisco is up to 63. the seven-day forecast now at the bottom of the screen shows

rain drops in the forecast. now we will talk about that. here's a look at the day planner for san jose. 55 at 8:00. a lot of sunshine making the temperatures fairly quickly jump into the low 60s by lunchtime. and low 70s today. but as we look ahead, here's the storm is system set to arrive for the weekend. we will start out with fine, light rain. that's on saturday, into sunday. then as we head into early next week, more widespread rain expected saturday evening. north bay may see rain while the rest of the bay area stays dry. sunday, scattered showers. monday the rain picking up and spreading out. we will all be seeing heavy rain moving through. next week is looking really wet. after all the warm weather we have had recently and the potential of getting at least an

inch and a quarter of rain or up to an inch and a quarter of rain across much of the bay area, you may be wondering how much do we normally get in the month of march? we normally get 2 inches but we have only had .3. you will keep you up to date on the changes in the forecast. looking ahead to the temperatures, we will see the rain moving in once again late saturday night, into sunday. looking at warm temperatures as well. so those temperatures will be in the 70s. dropping back early next week. over to mike now happening on the drive-through the tri-valley. >> that's where we expect to see anything other than sensors at the limit. >> more fog creeping in. we'll talk about that in a second as well. no real problems. a little bit of slowing in and out of tracy.
