hayward. >> i thought somebody was shooting at us. >> now, that 17-year-old arianna cabrera referring to the unmarked police car. they drew up in the bmw that they were passengers in. they say this was an undercover operation by fremont. they believed the car was connected to several armed robberies around the bay area. when police approached the car the driver, a robbery suspect, rammed the officer's car. as a result, shots were fired at the car. here is cabrera explaining things from her vantage point. >> i just heard gunshots. i didn't really think anybody got hit in the car. so he made that right. and my cousin grabbed her left side and started screaming. >> police are still looking for the driver of the bmw wanted in connection with at least 12

las dunes avenue. as soon as we have an update to bring you, we will. an overhaul for vta is raising concerns among seniors and low income commuters. the agency is revamping lines due to changing ridership. some of those lines, including the 82 bus, may even be discontinued. as a result, commuters in more residential areas phau see some of their options cut dramatically. >> a live look at interstate 580 in dublin where traffic will be light so far. pigging up a little bit. this is a stretch of roadway for a little more than a year now. a total of three express lanes have been available for commuters. two lanes eastbound one westbound through the tri-valley corridor. alameda county transportation leaders will provide feedback how it is all working out. the chp will will release findings on the 580 express

lane. laura, neighborhoods in san francisco feeling like they are under siege from home burglars. residents are demanding answers. folks are pushing for action in the greater subset in engel side. 100 people had their voices heard last night in a meeting. there was an 80% just from 2015 to 2016. that has dropped off so far this year. neighbors say there is not enough being done to keep people safe. >> not a week goes by where there is not a home invasion, packages stolen. i have yet to see a patrol car come up our street. >> all right. in response, city leaders say they support the hiring of more police officers and they are encouraging people to use surveillance to deter crimes. stkphao help is on t help is on the way for pleasanton homeowners whose homes are in danger of following into is the creek. they made a plea for emergency

no damage considered right now. all right. you see all the police presence out there. we have just learned that authorities say the letter contains fireworks. but it is unclear who sent the letter. france remains in a state of emergency after a string of deadly attacks the last two years. new video of a shooting coming into our newsroom out of florida. i have to warn you it could be disturbing to some viewers. you see a man in the blue shirt. he is a civilian holding a gun walking on a highway. in the distance, a suspect is pinning down a sheriff's deputy. see it there. after the suspect refused to let the go, the civilian fired, killing the suspect. the shooting was justified. in a very interesting side note, not a single 911 call was made as that ordeal all played out. spacex is calling the launch of a new satellite a success.

the rocket blasted off 2:00 this morning from kennedy space center, also in florida. it did not make an attempt to land. it burned off after reentering the atmosphere. it separated cleanly from its boosters. meantime, back here on planet earth, elon musk needs more money. >> tessa always needs more money. >> the company says it is running close to the edge, their words. it's going to the well offering more stock to pay for building the model 3. tesla had to do this several times in the past. as awe general rule, offering more stocks and just what you had is a no-no. when you invent new stock, this is putting up new stock

>> we have a good family atmosphere. good day to enjoy with your family. >> it is is going to be nice. we'll get sunshine. definitely a day to get out and enjoy with the whole family. looking now at temperatures 54 in the tri-valley. we have to deal with coastal fog and patchy fog in san francisco and the north bay. 54 degrees in the north bay. but looking at highs this afternoon reaching the low 70s. it will be so comfortable. 67 degrees with a high in the peninsula. san francisco at 64 degrees. so as you get out there with the family heading to the park, make sure you take the allergy medication. a lot of tree pollen in the air. pine, juniper, cedar and ash. a little bit of mulch as well. the next couple of days, this may help change that. going to see rain chances. hopefully helping to clear out

some of the pollen out of the air. and we are going to start to see the rain moving into the phorno bay saturday afternoon and sunday afternoon. it won't rain the whole weekend. only a few scattered showers. widespread rain heading in early next week. much of the bay area won't see the rain until monday evening into tuesday. it holds off except for the north bay with several rounds through the middle of next week. we're looking at the potential of getting anywhere from half an inch up to an inch and a quarter. these are early estimates throughout all the storm systems from sunday to thursday. if you are planning to head to the russian river valley through the weekend, it is going to be nice, warm, sunny. highs in the 60s to 70s the next couple of days. and a slight chance of rain. we talk about the rain moving into the north bay. if you are going to be going to dublin for the st. patrick's

school in morgan hill, never to be found. >> this comes as the trial of the man accused of killing her continues this morning. the family waited so long for the trial to start. >> reporter: good morning to you. the 91 call that marlene lamar made is just one bit of the evidence we have heard in this trial. it has been an agonizing five-year wait both for her and steve lamar, see is air ra lamar's father, who has been here for most days of the trial. less talk about sierra lamar and about what happened with the other three women her accused killer allegedly tried to kidnap before sierra la disappeared. a woman testified that garcia torres got into her car at the safeway where she picked up groceries and where he worked.

called out because a son had gotten into an argument with his mother in her 60s. the two live together. he allegedly attacked his mother in the bathroom and tried to strangle her. she and her daughter were able to escape while he stayed inside, refusing police orders to come out. officers surrounded the complex. the standoff lasted a hours until 12:30, 1:00 this morning. the source tells us he has more than one warrant out for his arrest. thank you, bob. now to berkeley. a man is behind bars. a wild chase through four cities, eventually climbing up on a roof to evade arrest. he ran into a police car and took off leading officers on a chase through oakland, san leandro, and crashing into cars

remember, the white house rewrote it after the first ban failed in two courts. the second ban was supposed to take effect today. but he said, no. just moments ago another court in maryland said no. here is the reaction over the hawaii decision. >> the block was a watered down version of the first order. that was also blocked by another judge. and should have never been blocked to start with. >> the white house lawyers probably winced when they heard that. the strategy was to pretend the first and second or were different. and mr. trump just said they weren't. it mentions trump's own statements as a reason to block the order based on religious discrimination.

it may reach farther inland than what we will see on saturday. on monday, another chance of rain from san francisco farther to the north becoming more widespread on tuesday with heavier downpours that may linger into the next of the week. yesterday is looking a lot wetter than this week. an inch and a quarter for most of the bay area. if you're wondering how much rain in san jose, only .3 for the month of march. we are supposed to get three inches. so we have catching up to do. most of your commutes are looking good, as well as your counter commutes around the bay. speed sensors. both reopened. they cleared the disabled truck from the eastbound bore.
