temperatures. we'll close in the gap later on today. highs in the low 60s in the tri-valley. 64 in the south bay. 59 degrees in san francisco. going to be a nice one. but this is our approaching storm. we'll talk the timeline, when the rain arrives and how much we will get coming up in a few minutes. mike already tracking a crash in the richmond area. >> we are, kari. we are already seeing some improvement. the slowing has mostly cleared. here's the rest of the bay. upper east shore freeway. i saw all the slowing. both directions cleared. just west of there on the roadway. and we're looking at a nice recovery. so they must have cleared this near the off-ramp to richmond parkway. the rest of the freeway moves well. by now we are just down to 14 minutes of your travel time. back to normal for the upper east shore freeway. back to you. >> mike, thank you very much.

a lot of breaking news updates from london. within the last hour, british prime minister theresa may speaking to parliament and shedding new light on yesterday's deadly attack. may said the attacker was british born. at one point on the radar of spice for possible connections to violent extremism. one of the victims injured in yesterday's attack is an american. in the meantime, the number of people killed this morning is one fewer than originally thought. it has been revised. it includes the attacker who plowed an suv through a crowd on the westminster bridge. 40 were injured, 29 hospitalized for treatment. and seven right now are still in critical condition. >> police are now saying they believe the attacker was inspired by international terrorism. they later added eight arrests had been made across the country overnight. they are not saying how this is

connected to the attack or if it is at all. no doubt it's been an emotionally draining 24 hours for the people of london. today will be no different. >> the attack has the world on high alert. today in the bay spoke to travelers who just arrived to london. for many it is too close for comfort. >> people run for safety in london during a deadly terrorist attack in the heart of the city. using a car as a weapon, a man runs people over on the crowded sidewalk on the west pheuminute crashes, and runs through the parliament gates stabbing a police officer to death before police shot and killed the man. >> my friends were checking on facebook saying they were safe because i have a lot of friends around that area. >> shawn was flying to san francisco when the attacker killed four people. for him it hits close to home. >> it's scary. it could have been me, any one of my friends or family member that could have been on that

bridge. >> family in london called her to let her know they are okay. on spring break, she is taking off for london. canceling didn't cross her mind but being cautious did. >> i think i feel okay, especially after being able to talk it through with my family. but it is scary that it is happening a bit more. well, it was certainly anything but normal yesterday. parliament locked down during the attack. but today a resumption of business as normal this morning. and a show of defines against terrorism by the parliament. the search is on for a man who tried to abduct a young girl in san francisco. she was walking on fore etorava. the girl began screaming for help. people nearby heard her and

rushed over. the suspect then took off. he was described vaguely as a white man in his 20s. >> we have a warning for the next time you're picking up groceries. whole foods shoppers are being targeted by car thieves. this is happening at the new santa clara whole foods by levi's stadium. she didn't want her identity to be revealed. she said the thieves struck in just a matter of minutes. >> i went in there to grab just a couple items. and it didn't even take 10 minutes. around that long. when we came back, we saw the back door window was smashed. >> all right. so it all happened in a flash. you see the smashed glass there. her husband's passport and laptop were stolen. a whole foods security guard said they are specifically

concerns are growing about a much needed retrofit for the oroville dam. it is $400 million to do that. last year it was put off until 2020. there are fears it may fail in a major earthquake. >> why weren't they concerned about fixing this back then?

will be eyeing the health care bill which could be a major test for president trump's policy agenda. data on unemployment, housing and janet yellen also speaking as well. the dow 20,661. the nasdaq gaining 27 points. 5,821 as we start off this thursday morning. more retailers are in trouble with women's clothing change. they have hired outside advisers to explore their on options of bankruptcy. the company would shut stores and go entirely online. separate approximately reports say payless may be looking at bankruptcy protection and closing 500 stores as it struggles to compete with online retailers. starbucks planning to add 240,000 new jobs worldwide with 68,000 in the u.s. of those, they will hire 25,000

50 degrees in palo alto. look at how cold it starts out in the north bay. 43 in napa, fairfield. 46 degrees now in morgan hill. and the seven-day forecast is coming up at the bottom of the screen. a couple of more days of rain. it's been such a busy week. you'll be glad to know this weekend is looking good. we look at today's high temperature, 63 in east san jose. milpita milpitas, 63. livermore, 61 degrees. these temperatures are a little bit cooler than where we should be for the end of march. i think we will take it considering there will be no rain today. 57 in the marina district. 59 in mill valley. here we go. here's our next storm set to move in. we already see the clouds. so far no rain starting to the north of us just yet. as we get a look at the timeline starting today, starting to see clouds mixing in with the sun

already by lunchtime. light rain possible for the north bay. the rain gets heavier early tomorrow morning by 5:00, 6:00 in the morning. and then it starts to move south about pretty much all the bay area covered with rain before lunchtime. we will see the rain throughout the arch, tapering off late tomorrow night. and it will be clear in time for saturday morning. looking at an additional rainfall total of at least another half an inch nor some of the inland areas and some of the valleys. but this model is putting down at least an inch of rain for the san francisco area, the peninsula, and the santa cruz mountains may have closer to two inches of rain. as you follow me on facebook and twitter, i always appreciate those weather reports i get from you. also, i'll keep you upto date on the weekend changes. heading over to mike, a note for the south bay. >> traffic is clear around the bay. but the south bay, activity you might have noticed last night

a signal with a note that she left. she's pretty smart about this. she said she's headed east. she was finally able to call 911 but in the middle of the call it dropped. a search and rescue were chopper crew found her car and a note. ultimately they found her a few miles later waving frantically at them for help. they said she was pretty healthy. >> cooler temperatures helped out a little bit. but the subpoena will still get you. you're out in the sun all day, it will cook you up. it will burn you. >> she was smart enough to bring food and water for the trip. she only had about a day or two left when she was finally found. >> they found her in the nick of time. >> thankfully. >> all right. what's coming up weather wise for the bay area. kari? a lot of sunshine as we head throughout the day. a live look at san francisco. great start this thursday morning. you'll need the umbrella today. more in the microclimate
